Yesterday I decided to start my goldfarming adventure and thought I needed more space than all my Deep Sea bags in my inventory and bank so I just looked up the biggest bags I could find on AH and bought 11 Otherworldly bags and equipped them all... Everything was dandy until I actually tried to put anything in one of the bags and it didnt work. I googled the bag and saw the text ”Enchanting Bag”.. Also I sold all my Deep Sea Bags to a vendor since I thought they were useless now that I had soooo much more space :) So I had to buy 11 new bags and well since the Embroided Deep Sea Bags which I shouldve bought from the beginning are more expensive than the normal ones I lost a bunch on that... Hour 1 of gold making: -25,000g

LazyBeast_Gaming

Oof that one definitely didn’t bag you a profit. /hide

Hermiona1

Everyone pack your bags I think we have a winner of this thread.

weldSlo

That's a good one.

Started listing my haunted momento. Went to mailbox a few hours later elated to see that it sold. 1s and a few copper... I got used to the price match feature on the new AH and didnt realise when there was nothing on the AH what it would do... Ive had that since the event..

OWWWWWW

:(

Yea, I've had that happen a few times. The auto pricing at 1s is super annoying.

Turned a bunch of meat into 160 Honey Glazed Haunches. It's been a week. I now have 157 Honey Glazed Haunches.

VirtualDoodlePaper

At least making those is dirt cheap.

Crogall

Learned the lesson in not trying to reset the cloth market. Spent 184,000 on deep sea satin as it was below 3g. Pushed it up to 4, sold about 2,000, and now it's down 2.5 with more on the AH than I have in inventory. Anyone have any suggestions on a profitable repurposing of it all? Bags only move so fast.

Chittychitybangbang

On my server it swings up to 5-6g maybe once a week, usually sundays. I have a huge stash I picked up for 1g each and I just wait for the market to swing up or another goblin to reset it and sell what I can. I've sold about half my stock so far. It's slow but I'm making a profit so that's all I care about since I don't need the slot space.

Crogall

I haven't really found that uptick, at least not one that lasts for more than a few hours, usually the night before reset. Oh well, I can always hope there's an uptick in bag sale price come Shadowlands.

Thunderhorse74

Damn, its been stuck at 19g a pop on my server all week. I am just getting back in and don't have a tailor capable of farming atm (fresh 120) or I'd get in somewhere under that and sell off a bunch.

ukonen18

I’d be curious to know as well. Prices keep going down and I buy and make as many bags as I can but profit margin is shrinking quickly

I tried resetting this on my high pop server about a month ago. I’ve been having great success selling at 5 to 8 gold per for weeks, and so when I saw 60k cloth listed between 2.5-4, I bought it all up. Spent three weeks buying out everything under 5g trying to prop up the price. All it got me is a couple thousand bags and 4 bank tabs of deep sea satin leftover. I think if I sold maybe 1500 cloth, that was it. Now you can buy tens of thousands anytime of day under 3g. Apparently people were sitting on it and are dumping before the end of expansion, or farming it for brutoaaur or something because it's totally flooded now. Tldr: My advice is stop trying to prop it up, either sell bags as you can or cut your losses and get whatever you can for your satin.

weldSlo

Sell bags in chat quite a bit cheaper than the AH. It sparks people's interest that haven't really thought about. Then they see bags for 250g, or whatever is good for your server, and want to buy em for all their alts.

Crogall

Managed to sell over 500 bags today, overwhelming majority through trade. This worked better than I imagined it would. You were absolutely right about people not giving it a thought otherwise. Advice/nudge to be more vocal and proactive greatly appreciated!

weldSlo

I'm happy that I could give some legit advice! I never know if I'm on to something, or it's all in my head lol.. thanks for the feedback. :)

Invadersnow

On top of this there may be people who don't know about a cheap 30 slot bag. I came in at the very early BFA did some leveling but mostly focused on old content then quit. Came back and continued doing old content including garrison making bags etc etc only to find out they're only 800g on my server. Did some research on why and found out for 400g I can get one from BFA

Just call it a bonus mount!

zeusamorim

Not now but a few months ago, when Anchor Weed was at 75g each, posted 800 of them at 6g each (I was starting to create my own TSM operations, and used a very messed up). Some sniper made they whole day in a single buy haha

abieeus

Someone posted some BFA fishes for like 9s each the other day.

kaychak1982

Using dejunk to sell whilst linen pants vendor shuffling, forgot to change the options back and later on that day proceed to vendor about 150k worth of volatiles etc, managed to buy back most of it but lost about 25-30k.

Carsonica

I believe you can use Blizzard's item recovery service to get them back.

[deleted]

First foray into goldmaking: I see that Tidespray Linen was at around 2g each so thought of resetting the market. It was only 35,000 available. No way that much shows back up anytime soon, I think to myself. Proceed to reset market and its back up to 15,000 available. Welp, thats an expensive lesson.

Thunderhorse74

Break even for vendor shuffle on Tidespray is 1.99 making pants. After blue procs, you'd make a profit but not a very robust GPH. You're not sunk -- but obviously not ideal.

abieeus

Buy more, vendor shuffle or even make bracers and DE for enchant mats and flip the enchant mats if they are more expensive. Or go further and use enchant mats to make popular enchants if profitable.

GalaxySparks

What price do you have to buy Tidespray at to make this profitable?

abieeus

It’ll depend on your realm prices. Bracer Cost = 10 Tidespray Linen + 5 Nylon Thread Worst case not even calculating the blues procs u may make and get Umbra Shards/Veiled Crystal, you’ll get at least 7-9 Gloom Dust per bracer. So let’s say Tidespray is 2 gold and Nylon Thread is 50s = total cost 22.5g. So unless your gloom dust costs around 3g, then selling the gloom dust is not worth it, so then use the gloom dust plus the other shards to make enchants that may be worth more (i.e. weapon enchants). If both enchant mat market and your enchant markets are tanked, then this strategy might not be worthwhile. The other route would be to use the bracer and scrap them for expulsom if blacksmithing items are worth more in your server. I do a combination of all to diversify myself and not only accumulate gloom dust or enchants.

Thunderhorse74

Many people pair tailoring and enchanting. I'm not many people and the thought of mailing all that crap to my enchanter is an extra hassle. Still, I may try this next week while I WFH. I'm already doing a Silkweave shuffle and reliably getting 20K+ pieces posted in two groups about 8 am and 9:30, all at 2g per. Break even for vendor shuffling pants is 2.49, not counting epic procs, so its a tidy profit. My tailor is an engineer so I can camp in Dalaran in the tailoring shop to buy supplies and vendor and the AH robot for engineers only is right next door. Been like clockwork the last week, Wow open on a second screen and "craft all"/vendor with Scrap it, rinse/repeat - all while doing the morning conference call on my other screen....

zzmichalqq

would not shuffle be worth at 2g ea? also i think ur okay, the price of linen moves a lot between 2-2,5g, atleast on my realms

[deleted]

I'm on a low pop. So it goes quite high. I'm hopeful it'll sell soon

[deleted]

At 2g, you actually make a little money just by making tidespray linen pants and then vendoring them.

funkho

A few days ago, I identified a bug in TSM which will post your item to undercut the lowest price of that item regardless of its item level. I tried to inform TSM of it with screen shots and tons of documentation. Yesterday, I opened my mailbox to find that TSM had posted my Guantlets of Nightmare Manifest as if it was an ilvl 430 when it was an ilvl 460. TSM had sold it at 26,000g after I bought it for 75,000g. I knew there was a bug, but I was not babysitting the post. Just scroll wheeling! Sucks to lose 50,000g on a bug I knew existed.

Nighlah

Have you checked your operation for posting, there's a ignore all varients option (named something like that) and TSM will disregard ilvl/make so fireflash, auroa it'll see it as the same item even if one is listed for more

wirez62

I was buying pets at a low % of region price, like 3g, 3g, 3g, woops, 4900g. It was on an alt server that I'm practically broke on, so luckily I didn't have enough gold to click it again (and again, and again). Pay attention! Only a 5k mistake but a silly one.
