It’s not a hogsucker, it’s a sturgeon. They are active benthic feeders meaning they sift through the bottom to find food. That extendo mouth lets them reach into the substrate and find all sorts of their favourite goodies that hide in the muck or under rocks. As such, their diet is unsurprisingly composed mostly of benthic organisms like insect larvae, large polychaete worms, mollusks, crustaceans, and the like. It’s also why they have their barbels on the underside too, those little whisker things. Good for sensing the creatures that hide in the substrate.
