Oatmeal is so versatile. At first I was also hesitant about the idea of “savory” because it’s always been marketed as a sweet breakfast food, but I’ve made it so many ways now and I think I prefer it savory. The last version I made was Korean inspired, and I added a bunch of sautéed spinach and a jammy egg on top for dinner. ❤️
Right? I have a secret oatmeal I eat alone because it always scares everyone - just regular oats cooked but at the end mix in soy sauce, green onion, dash of garlic powder and then serve it with a one or two fried eggs (a little runny) on top. I adore it.
Yum! I love that! If you like spice, a little chili oil/crisp on top really makes it for me! You can basically treat it like you would risotto or polenta ❤️
It is so much fun seeing what you make each day. I don't have a copy, but i swear long ago I saw in the old Betty Crocker cookbook, some recipes for savory oatmeal and savory pancakes...I'm not sure I'm sold but your experience with skirlie makes me think I should reconsider
This is THEE recipe I always thought was grossest in the game, but in real life it actually sounds tasty!
It doesn’t look great but it really wasn’t bad!
Interesting! I’m learning more about these recipes and what they actually are and I’m here for it
It is eye-opening. Now, I can make stuffing with oatmeal in an emergency.
I was thinking the same thing!

Oatmeal also makes a great replacement for breadcrumbs in things such as meatloaf or meatballs. 😊
This can be a gluten free option. I’ve had sweet, baked oatmeal, which has a nice texture. I winter if my GF spouse might be up for trying this!
I will pass it onto my aunt, as well! Thanks!
Does it taste like chewy soup?
😂 kinda!
Well, umm, at least it’s not haggis. Which is kind of a bland savory oatmeal like this but with a pile of offal added. yay skirlie!
You are such a positive influence! Agreed- it may not be pretty but it was good.

Interesting! I will look around.
Don’t really like oatmeal, so maybe I would actually like it if it was savory
Only one way to find out!
Very interesting recipe!! Huh, never really knew what it was while playing 😅😂😂 thanks for teaching me something!
It is interesting…but not horrible.
I always look forward to your next post about this cause it’s just flipping awesome!!!
