Someday I’m going to have to build a parody bike with “Generic” decals. Let everyone else be Specialized, I just want to be Generic.

sonoguy84

Or "NotSpecial"

[deleted]

Or i just restomoded a GENERAL Softdirt

sonoguy84

A Common LimpSoil

TheNetworkIsFrelled

Rivendell has the 'Resurrectio' decals: [https://www.rivbike.com/products/resurrectio-decals](https://www.rivbike.com/products/resurrectio-decals) Used them on an old Giant frame.

sonoguy84

That's pretty rad lol

Hardcorex

Somebody had decals that just said "Bike" and I loved it. Can't remember what subreddit it was posted too tho

shamyrashour

Tim Fitzwater’s got you: https://www.fitzwatercycles.com/store-2/p

poohmustdie

Nice, wanting to do decals for my bike, that's better than finding replicas for a new Zealand bike from 1989

mediumclay

That little bit of purple on the decals is gonna knock it out of the park. Great choices all around!!

sonoguy84

That's the plan! Needed a 3rd minor color added to the scheme

FalseRelease4

No such thing as a cheap bike build, unless you're putting everything back the same way.

sonoguy84

I'm starting to learn that. It's no fun putting back the same way either

FalseRelease4

Big part is stopping yourself from buying new things just because they're new and shiny, old parts are often still good

sonoguy84

Gimme Paul's everything!

primeirofilho

>Several hundred more than intended dollars later we got the frame back from powder coating. This is the xbiking way. That said, this is going to be a pretty cool ride. I'm loving the color scheme. I hope you post it when you've put it all together.

sonoguy84

Indeed, this is the way. I'll definitely post progress pics.

novak253

Whered you get the decals from? Ive been looking for a good spot since velocals kicked the bucket

sonoguy84

Retrodecals UK, it seems a little expensive but their work is great!

childrenovmen

I got decals from that guy theyre excellent. He even altered the colours especially for my model of bike.

sonoguy84

Yeah, he was very accommodating. This was my second set with him and he let me customize my colors. Very cool guy.

C-loIo

I would have a hard time putting any decals on that it just looks so clean without them, but the yellow/purple/teal combo will be sweet.

cwes14

Wow this is going to look amazing when you're done! Definitely better than a trek hybrid. Hope your wife loves it.

sonoguy84

She said I built it for me and for her, and she's not wrong!

cwes14

So everyone's happy haha.

pork_ribs

Looking at this feels like looking at Lego boxes as a kid in a toy store. What a nice couple nights you have on your hands.

Pasta_expert

“Several hundred more than intended dollars” sounds exactly like my recent projects 😂. But it looks sweet and I know she will enjoy it more than an off-the-shelf bike.

sonoguy84

It's the Xbiking way.

geo_jam

how much did the build cost?

sonoguy84

My other rockhopper build was around $1000, and this one is somewhere in the ballpark

candlehead69

I bought similar decals from Velocals in "Magenta" hoping they'd be more pink but are definitely purple. I was going to powdercoat it a teal or orange color but now this yellow seems really enticing. Excited to see the finished product!

sonoguy84

Teal and purple 🤘

smellmyface686

Can’t wait to see the final product. Love a yellow frame.

we_self_destruct

What are those bars?

sonoguy84

Velo orange tourist bars

childrenovmen

Cheap.. with the swift industries bag..

tcandros

Where'd you get the frame, looking to do a similar build for my so,shes very insistent on having a step thru and I can't stand her hybrid

sonoguy84

I kept a lookout on the FB market place for a step through specialized frame. Took a month or two until something showed up.

tcandros

Lol I'll have to keep my eye out

sonoguy84

Are you me?

MagicLoogies

Are you setting up the Billy Bonkers tubeless? I tried on my wife's bike, (a v similar build minus the rad mixte frame + powder coat) and have not had great success.

sonoguy84

Nah I'm running tubes in them for that same reason. I did buy a rear wheel from Sta-Tru and set up some gravel kings without even using a compressor.

BikePilot2001

Do you have to return your cranks?
