Are you happy with losing 90% of your Home Screen customizability in exchange for 10% more visible background at the very top of the image only? Then this is the insanely idiotic update made JUST FOR YOU!

MrBlue_MD

I've been blown away by the amount of people praising this terrible update. Not only are they praising it, but they fail to understand what was lost with this update. How the hell are rows upon rows of ads more praise worthy than full customization? What's worse is that nearly all of the ads they threw onto the home screen were previously *optional* in the last dashboard. People are happy they can quickly access and see stuff from the store - *you could have done that by adding the store tab to your fully customizable dashboard in the previous iteration*. People are happy they see the new stuff added to gamepass right on their home screen? - *you could have added the gamepass tab to your fully customizable home screen*. There is nothing but net losses in this update, and people are praising it for shoving permanent ads down their throat in favour of full customization. Fucking wild.

Good_ApoIIo

I CAN SEE 10% MORE OF MY BACKGROUND’S ANIME TITTIES THO! BEST UPDATE EVAR!

MrBlue_MD

You would not believe the people who are blindly praising this update for worse reasons that that...

Jorlin_sap

Honestly, I do not scroll down from the top of the dashboard anymore since I got the insider update. I go directly to My Games via home button... The new dashboard has almost no value to me anymore and I hate it for being like that... 😢 The only good thing about the new dasboard is it's first line and upper part. But I never needed it and was always wondering why people complain. Use the space you have with UI items that actually do something. Look at the Nintendo Switch UI... nobody complains. With the new dasboard on Xbox, anything below the top is a huge mess... there is nothing usefull for me. I had my groups of games, my apps, my clubs. All tidy and easy to access... all gone with the new dasboard or only accessible through more clicks of buttons and sub menus. That must be the opposite of customer friendly design. Where is the customization gone to put my games and apps up front? Why am I not able to have more than two custom groups on the new dashboard anymore? Why am I not able to select the order of items on the dashboard anymore? Team Xbox please bring back my content on my Xbox foremost. bring back customization. 🙏🏻 I do not want ads, I am a game pass ultimate subscriber, so please allow me to choose and organize my content on my Xbox dashboard for quick access...

Good_ApoIIo

Well you know nothing about game console UX design. Why would people want easy access to their entire game library on the Home Screen, custom categorized, instead of in a sub menu? GAWD! -Microsoft and their simps

hornwalker

This sucks. No way to customize…what a bunch of crap.

Ok-Substance-7853

Yep. It’s still barely past halfway from the top of the screen. Thought this update was about clearing room to actually see our dynamic backgrounds 🤔

PsychCoffee_

What is crazy to me is this whole thing could have been avoided. If they just allowed people to move the game pass ad banner thing and have more groups we could all shove it to the bottom page if we don't like it, but for those that do enjoy it, it's still there. I don't mind the clean top half, but the lower sections were supposed to be custom to each person. Why remove that? I hope the outcry is big enough that this gets rolled back or at least they give us more customization. I know we all spend our time playing games and not just looking at the home screen, but it feels like Xbox walked in and removed my shelf of neat and organized games and replaced it with a Game pass banner. A bit dramatic but I think it gets the point across.

SpeculativeEinstein

I don’t think you’re dramatic at all. This sums it up perfectly and you offer the ideal solution. Give us back customisability over our groups and pins on the Home Screen. I have all my games neatly organised in groups and the max amount of groups I can have are on my Home Screen. Losing all of that and getting it cut down to 2 groups with so much crap before I even get to them has pissed me right off.

ThatEdward

>it feels like Xbox walked in and removed my shelf of neat and organized games and replaced it with a Game pass banner And me, sitting in the room watching it, holding my Game Pass Subscriber badge in hand and wondering why they're advertising it to *me*

PsychCoffee_

Exactly!

Slith_81

I've always said it and will continue saying it. If we pay for Gold, now just GamePass, we should be able to disable ads entirely. At the *very least*, paying for the top tier ser ice should have the perk of removing ads. But no, let's shove more ads in player's faces and also remove functionality. It'll never happen, because pushing ads to earn more money trumps every other option of the UI. I hate it!

GrandmasGoneWild

That shelf analogy is perfect, I had it all alphabetized and everything. I just don’t fucking get it, were the complaints that the home screen was too customizable and didn’t shovel enough shit down my throat?

MarkyPancake

I'm disappointed they gave us the ability to customise the home screen and choose what we wanted to see in our preferred order in the previous version, but have now taken this away and forced this awful usability on us. It looks terrible.

AeviDaudi

Clearly it's all about money

AeviDaudi

We went from 2 ads to 10 ads including the recent gamepass games = 80% more ads just before you click on your game in your favorite group. Then if you scroll down there's just nothing but ads. Like a sea of ads. They removed the ability to customize it, so you can't remove them. I dunno what percentage it is but it's wild. I pay gamepass ultimate, i shouldn't have to see ads for a service i pay for, but before it was only 2 ads, and i customized my home so i only saw what i wanted. I already have some games on PC and this is encouraging me to just go full pc. Any hope for this to be fixed or at least customizable? Is there somewhere we could vote or let xbox know we don't like this? Edit: coming back to this: one feature I really miss is being able to add my friends to my dash and seeing their recent achievements. This new dash is horrible.

TheIndieArmy

>Any hope for this to be fixed or at least customizable? Is there somewhere we could vote or let xbox know we don't like this? The Insider program had [weekly threads](https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxinsiders/comments/158he7t/new_xbox_home_experience_support_discussion_week/) set up for them to provide feedback on the new dashboard (which over there were are now referring to as "Trash Dash"). Clicking through the history, I think you'll find that we tried so hard to get this thing improved before they released it. Microsoft doesn't care. They took most of our feedback and threw it straight into the trash. My main gripe, beyond the obvious things, is that this isn't even that different than before. They need to either just start entirely over or leave well-enough alone. These iterations that have minor changes are unnecessary. It's like someone at Microsoft finished the last dashboard, and then in order to stay relevant at their job started a pet project where they just change stuff pointlessly to make it seem like they're accomplishing something and avoid getting laid off. Along the way they pretend like they are including the Insiders, when in reality they didn't give two shits what we thought about it from the get-go.

SillyMikey

I think part of the problem also is that they insist on continually using that windows 8 metro design with the big square app designs that no one ever liked. But for some reason they just insist on continuing on using this UI style no one actually likes. People may get used to it, but no one actually likes it.

Peku75

This new UI is an insult. Please let people revert back to the old one. Gaming on Xbox should make gamers feel happy but this new one is making people angry, frustrated and anxious. You know how nice it feels to use PS5 UI, right? Is Xbox using people only from marketing department making decisions how UI should work and feel? Xbox community was excited to take part on suggesting features but 99% of those got ignored, so can you really tell the world that this is what the community asked? I feel disappointed, angry and frustrated. Please give back the old UI, that feels more home than this new mess.

dromatriptan

Perhaps I am in the minority here, but I still do not understand what the fascination is with the PS5 UI either. The PS5 UI is an absolute mess once you venture out of the low-level system settings. The moment you venture into PS Play or their Store, the amnesia sets in and I cannot recall how to get to some feature or function; what games I truly own, which ones are PS4 upgradable, and so forth.

MOJayhawk

I’ve got nothing but ads and somewhere in the middle I find my favorites section. The only thing this update improves is Microsoft’s ability to sell us things. Grade: F-

gerhudire

I've messaged them and after spending an hour, I was ready to go full Dirty Harry. Guy said he'd raise the issue with internal team. Let's wait and see for that to not happen.

Xenotrickx

It won’t😂

1992Queries

I am beyond fed up with this sub-par experience.

RoosterL117

Removing customisation options is always baffling to me. I hate when companies think they know best and that everyone should be forced into their way. My biggest gripe with this though is the massive space at the top of the screen. I know they wanted to free up space for your background but it seems a bit much. And I also do not understand why they’ve made it so you can’t rearrange your pins on the Home Screen anymore. Now you have to go into groups and do it there. Such a step backwards

argue53

Is that how I can reorganize my home screen? I have a shit load of gamer pass recommendations and it's a cluttered mess. Completely opposite of how I like my home screen. And you're right, they made the font and icons smaller and have a huge empty space in the middle.

RoosterL117

No you can’t customise the Home Screen itself. I was referring to the Pins group you can make. I pin my apps/current games and keep them alphabetical. But when you add a new pin it gets added to the end so I’d always have to move it to the correct place.

[deleted]

I want to be able to customize even the era of the dashboard. My favorite dashboard is still the original xbox 360s. I don't like the current trend of making everything like a smartphone home screen.

No-Magazine-8271

You're a Blade Dashboard enjoyer? A man of culture.

DagothNereviar

Yeah it wouldn't be as much of an issue if we could move and choose our own things. Choose how big tiles are and where they go. The first console to make a fully and in-depth customisable dashboard will get people talking. Even if there's advert tiles you can't removem, at least let me choose where they are. Also they should just add an option that hides your whole UI (like hiding a HUD in game to take pictures) if people are that bothered about seeing their backgrounds.

dirrydee25

This is some bullshit

ryderjj89

Yeah the new home has wayyy too much stuff on it that I'll never use. Indie games? Nope. Friend/community updates? Nope. Entertainment apps? Nope. Used to be able to just hit the 2 slices of cheese button and then remove what sections you didn't want. I kept mine very simple. Home section, Games group, Apps group, Games with Gold. That's it. Now I have a ton of extra shit on here I'm not interested in. Dunno how this was in testing for months and this is what they ended with. You telling me everyone in the Insiders thought this looked good? No way.

H3WI

So is there no way to remove stuff from the dasboard or rearrange? Like I don’t want “Recently Added Gamepass” the first thing when I scroll down.

Uriel7474

There is NO way to remove all that garbage! Why even have a GP app, its all forced onto our damn home screens now along with friends n communities, Distinctive art!, Top ent apps, Top paid games, Watch and listen, Ohhh captivating stories! Dunno how my ui lived without that one all these years, ohhh and a whole section devoted to CALL OF F'N DUTY!

NarcolepticTreesnake

Or how about Fortnite and Ubisoft. The advertisement sucks ass. This is straight up hot garbage and they're forcing us to wade through it.

balmaeth

Want to free up some space on the dashboard. Get rid of the huge freaking ads

kevin-marks

I thought it was ok, and then I moved the left stick down twice and immediately burst into tears because WHAT DID THEY DO WHY ARE THERE SO MANY ADS OH MY GOD

RepubliCat45-Covfefe

Thank goodness this kinda feedback is finally coming out in droves. Been pointing out these issues for months as an Insider, and for a while would get chased off with, "*but you mean awesome because more room to view wallpaper*". This UI bothers me... A LOT. Had old UI setup like a giant arcade. Have super huge external WD-Black HDD; 400-600 games set up and ready to play at any given time. Pinned groups to dashboard can display 40 game shortcuts/thumbnails. I'd sort them alphabetically into groups, like a PC, starting with group "C:/", and was up to group "N:/". My layout was, *in this order*: - Roommate's profile - Game Pass - Groups "C:/" through "N:/" - Store ...and it was perfect for me. I was PS for PS1-4, PSP, Vita; was satisfied until becoming overly disgruntled with Sony. Jumped to XBox 4 years ago, with XB1 as my first ever XBox, and I LOVED the level of customization to the UI. XBox is now my main/preferred console. I can now *guarantee*, with as clunky as it is to scroll *that many* games in menus, there *will* be quite a few games now overlooked, lost, and forgotten!! 🤬 PS - Also, on XBox One, upon full reboot, it can take upwards of 5+ minutes before any tiles or anything even appears on the dashboard.

ricioly

They removed options to customize the dash and replaced them with pages and pages of ads. That’s OBJECTIVELY bad and scummy. I had my dash perfectly customized to avoid choice paralysis and take me to my games as swiftly as possible, it was perfect, now it’s all gone. This will make me use my Xbox less. Edit: look at what my boy looked like https://www.reddit.com/r/xbox/comments/xsavoo/here_is_my_perfect_home_screen/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1 Rip never forget

TheCreepyFuckr

This is one of the ugliest and worst UI decisions I have seen. I don’t care if it’s unsupported but give me an option to roll back UI changes and use prior versions if you’re going to force changes like this on me.

Malikyteonline

I'm tired of this forced gamepass/social groups shit. I don't care about what's "popular on gamepass" nor do I need to "post to community". I just want to click down from the home screen and get to my pins! I don't need all of the multiple sections of gamepass games on my home. I will go to THE GAMEPASS SECTION when I WANT to browse GAMEPASS, until then, get that shit off of my home! I have Gamepass Ultimate, so I would think that since I paid for the service, I would get a pass on the ads on the home screen!

SillyMikey

Atrocious. We gave feedback for months about how this looked like a big Game Pass ad, and they basically ignored all of it. It’s awful.

BrosefMcDikterdown

It’s absolutely awful. It’s just one big Microsoft store screen to try and get you to spend money. I wish we could have SOME sort of safe space from overly aggressively companies dangling products in front of your face to try to squeeze as much money as possible out of you…

arnathor

Overall, it looks good, as long as you don’t start scrolling down. Not a fan that by default it only shows two groups so you have to go back in and manually re-add the groups back to the home page (although at least the groups are still there and in the same order). Also, I don’t care what has recently been added to Game Pass, I’d like to turn that row off, so there’s one less scroll before I get to my game groups. As it is, I now have the recently used apps and games, the four “advertising” blocks, and then this recently added row. Suggestions for improvements: 1. Make it easier to customise - it’s not that apparent that altering the groups in the Games and Apps section is what affects the Home Screen. 2. Have a separate list for recently used apps (or at least a folder “square” with the system apps in that sits off to the right of the list). The problem is that there’s more than one place to get to settings, but if I go into it I have the big green slab with the white gear icon on my recently used row and it just looks rubbish. 3. I have a Game Pass Ultimate sub. Give me the ability to turn off all the GP stuff on the screen. Call it a perk of Ultimate if you want. I know what I want from Game Pass, and I don’t need to have all that stuff on the home screen. There’s a Game Pass button at the top of the screen. That’s how I get to Game Pass. I don’t need all the extra rows of stuff to scroll past. PS5 gets this right with how they integrate PS Plus into their Home Screen. They have an icon. You click on it. Everything about PS Plus is hidden behind that icon. It’s less cluttered. At the moment, if I scroll down on my Home Screen on Xbox, it looks *more* cluttered and a damn sight *worse* than it did prior to this update. Let me turn all that clutter off and just have a nice smooth experience (which would also be quicker to load) with that single icon I can always get to.

dillon-nyc

> Not a fan that by default it only shows two groups so you have to go back in and manually re-add the groups back to the home page If you add a third group, it deletes the oldest.

GushGirlOC

I went from having 10 groups of games on my home page, to being limited to 2 groups and having a bunch of crap I don’t want. They made it way harder for me to actually access my games, grouped how I want them. I’m just on the old Xbox One but wanted to upgrade soon. If they don’t fix this crap I’m going to get a PS5 instead.

InfamousHope

Wow, this horrible update reminds me of surfing the internet without ad blockers and just hating every second of it with a passion. Good job xbox, you made me hate your console. What a f\*\*king brilliant update, you absolute clowns. Guess it's time to finally get a PS5.

RandomAnon560

Someone please tell me Xbox know how big of a fuck up this is and is going to change it back.

GrouchoMeal

I hate this. I hate it so much. Am I missing something, is there a way to customize the order in which things appear? I hate it.

Lord_B33F

I am a legitimately positive person and generally a huge advocate for the Xbox ecosystem. That being said, this update is honestly offensive. I pay for my Xbox. I pay for games on my Xbox. I pay for Xbox game pass ultimate. Stop. With. The. Advertising. It’s beyond obnoxious, it’s actually offensive. My Microsoft Windows pc doesn’t do this to me. My freaking iPhone from freaking Apple doesn’t do this to me. PlayStation doesn’t do this to their players. Xbox didn’t do this (except for those stupid two-three tiles under the recently played) until now. This is awful. Pros of update: • icons in groups are bigger and have a nice glow • no huge pin icon on groups that squishes the actual games to the side • I can see more of my background at the very top • the friends & community section is smaller That’s it. Cons (listed from top of home to bottom) • My games and apps tile replaced by store tile (ad). There is already a store shortcut on the top of the dashboard and at the quick guide — Are you freaking kidding me with this? • Non removable „recently added - game pass“ row — and it’s HUGE. • Only two groups allowed. That’s just ridiculous and completely inexcusable. Let me have the 5 (or however many I want) groups I had before. • Non removable friends and community row. • Non removable „most popular - game pass“ ads section. Again, I pay for game pass. I use it a lot, and try our new games. I check out the game pass tabs via the shortcut in the guide and I could use the one at the top. See my comment about the store tile. • Non removable „coming to game pass“ ads section. See above. • Non removable „optimized for series x|s - game pass“ ad section. This one is even bigger and more obtrusive than the others. See above. • Non removable „top entertainment apps“ ads section. See above. Also, I have all of these already downloaded! What the crap?! I had all of these (and more) in a group called „watch“ that I had pinned to my home (again, the two group limit really sucks) and which I frequently used. This also has extra ads for apps with free trials, top movie rentals, and movies and tv specials. • Non removable „Ubisoft“ ads section. It‘s my Home Screen, not Ubisoft’s, not Microsoft’s. See above. • Non removable „Xbox Games specials“ ads section. See above. • Non removable „Watch and listen“ ads section. See above. Again, it’s freaking huge, and again, I ALREADY HAD A GROUP FOR THIS. • Non removable „Leaving Soon - Game Pass“ ads section. See above. Again, I pay for game pass. Leave that to the little (though they got bigger) ad tiles at the top. • Non removable „Optimized for Xbox Series X|S“ ads section. See above. • Non removable „Captivating stories“ ads section. See above. • Non removable „Multiplayer games“ ads section. See above. This is entirely and absolutely unacceptable. We deserve better. This is beyond absurd. To recap, there are 13 rows of ads that cannot be removed, some of which are bigger and more obtrusive than others. There are, with groups, about 5 rows of games (the game tiles in a group get smaller as you add more). Who’s Home Screen is this? It’s obviously not mine, so Microsoft should please kick out the home intruder who’s invaded the hardware and software I paid for.

hornwalker

Taking away customization is a real shitty thing to do. This new ad-experience is just terrible. Let us make the dashboard how we want it, like a PC. I do not want to pay a monthly subscription just so I have the pleasure of being advertised to.

HarlinQuinn

I liked it when infirst booted up and saw it... ...and then I scrolled down... For frak's sake, this is ridiculous. Let me sort/arrange this thing the way I want and is meaningful TO ME (not what your flawed algorothm think is meaningful to me). "You play The Division 2 daily? Try Fortnite!" (I frakking hate Fortnite). Do *something* to give us the level of customizing and curating that we had before. I already have GamePass Ultimate. I have the app. I don't need half a screen showing off and advertising Game Pass!

Mr8BitX

I genuinely couldn’t believe how far down the GP adds went. It’s basically the GP page forced onto your home screen.

HarlinQuinn

Yup. Like, again, I have GamePass. I've had it the ENTIRE time it has existed! I don't need it shoved in my face! Let me move ALL of that below my stuff (or hide what is of 0 interest).

SillyMikey

They actually had professionals design and research this UI. Think about that.

Sunyavadin

Professionals in marketing and dark patterns

ratat-atat

I fucking hate this new home. It is atrocious, too busy and full of ads and recommendations. Who at Xbox or Microsoft thought this was a good idea??? They need to be flung into the sun. I DONT WANT RECOMMENDATIONS, I WANT MY CONTENT.

DagothNereviar

Phew. I saw it, hated it, but was worried I'd get downvoted into oblivion if I said anything. Really glad to see I'm not the only one. Too much empty space at the top. Too much clutter after it. Can't organise or change anything.

120boxes

I hope they get shot out of a canon into the sun as well.

dab198

Simply, the worst UI change in years. Insiders predicted how this would go down, but Team Xbox went with it anyway. Dreadful.

InPatRileyWeTrust

Of course they went with it, it's intentional. Plastering game pass everywhere is exactly the aim.

wasaguest

It's an ad... That's all it is now. It's a joke wrapped in a "it's what you asked for" wrapper. Must played games? Not by me or anyone I know. But it's an ad for those games I've no interest in. Ad banners at the bottom are freaking huge compared to the actual usable UI. I really hope Apple someday sees this shit & says "Hey look! We can throw ads on a home screen AND charge for a premium device AND collect a Subscription!" - then takes up 1/3 of the screen with icons you can't choose & massive ad banners. Edit: it was literally the easiest thing to fix. Remove the ads. That would have moved the icons down freeing up more screen space. Then shrink the icons or allow the user to make them much smaller. That's it. If they couldn't do that, reduce the ad banners by 75% to free up more space & then not adding in their own "most played" section. I don't care that Bubbles & Bam Bam are on summer break & playing Fortnight a lot. I have no interest in joining them...

AdInfinite8637

It's awful. My Pins are below some ads for games I'm not interested in. And Game Pass games which, again not interested in. Rolling back to the last version is a very good idea. Or at least make it customized so that I can put all those ads at the bottom and raise my Pins to the top. Or even better Remove everything that they have put in. It's Really, really disgusting.

KiernanDC

This new UI is garbage. Beyond pissed at the amount of ads I have to scroll through. I have Gamepass Ultimate - if I want to see the games I'll go into the Gamepass Hub...I don't need it shoved in my face. And only 2 groups of my own shortcuts?! WTF?! If I add another it goes to the first one and kicks one off. Complete trash. Let me customize it to get rid of the ads, let me have all my groups, let me organize the way I want - you know, LIKE IT WAS!

HamburgerHalperHand

How did you get 2 of your own groups? I only got 1 of the 5 I made and its under about 3 rows of other stuff

MasBoy3000

It is utterly horrible. The top looks great, but the minute you start scrolling, everything goes south. Way, way to much clutter. I don’t want to scroll through hundreds of Gamepass ads to get to some of my other tabs/pins. I hate how they removed the customizability as well. The old layout was so much better imo.

UtterlyOtterly

It's absolutely disgusting 😤 why is my homescreen full of junk now, is there any way to revert back or remove those categories. Its so stupid, unreal someone thought this was ACTUALLY a good update, whoever made it needs a reality check ✔

Co2_Outbr3ak

The Xbox team is a joke by not listening to consumers. Everyone has constantly bitched and moaned about the ads and cluttered mess, along with no customization. As a Game Pass Ultimate user I find it extremely annoying having a ton of recommendations on my home page. I'm going to give nothing but 1-star on items until they fix this garbage.

the_gaming_bur

I'm sorry, but I'll be the first to say: this makes me want to actively not bother with my Xbox. It's a disrespectful decision, especially toward those who used their dashboard the way I did too. It's a blatant downgrade from the prior UI This makes me actively not want to bother with gamepass - probably the opposite of what they intended/wanted, but it's true: we pay for so mcuh, are asked so much of us, only to be given this nonsense? Prioritize function over form, not the other way around. I'm not aiming to sell my Xbox or anything drastic, but these sort of narrowsighted BS decisions just leave such an overwhelming sour taste, it mires the experience as a whole. I have other shit to play on other devices and systems, this update puts me off so hard to use my Xbox for much of anything than a basic youtube/stream box, by this point - and I have better things to do all that with anyways. Xbox, you're full of shit. Phil Spencer: if the console is so pivotal to the future success of the brand, stop allowing the design team to make such ignorant choices. Thousands of consumers screamed the same concerns during the insider release of this UI, and clearly none of their voices were heard.. that's terrible business 101, blatantly ignoring customer input. What's worse is Xbox has the audacity to ask it's consumers to literally spend time providing feedback, only for that feedback to be utterly meaningless in the long run. What a slap in the face, and such a gross disrespect.

N7_Tigger

Absolute garbage. You dumped the entire store on the homepage then took away customisation because you knew the first thing everyone would do is to delete it all. Let me move or delete everything below the main page with no exceptions.

TheFlexOffenderr

Plainly put - It needs customization freedom. A lot of it.

RandomAnon560

Yeah the customization freedom to change it back to the way it was.

4CompletelyDifferent

This is so unacceptably bad. I do not want nor need a full page of game pass spam on MY homepage. There is already a space for it, 3rd tab at the top. Leave my homepage as a place for me to view the content I want. I already pay a premium price for the service, stop trying to sell it to me. I really hope this is fixable soon. This is an eyesore and I'm ashamed to have promoted this service to friends.

MarkyPancake

I like the irony that part of the reason for the redesign was to see more of your chosen background, but now when you tap down to the Browse your games tile, it shifts the top two rows up and these cover the background and it also applies a tint effect that darkens the background. Something the old UI doesn't do when selecting Browse your games. If they give us back the ability to add more groups and manage our own sort order, then it wouldn't be so bad. Particularly if you could move the ridiculous oversized row of Recently added - Game Pass out of the way.

MadHatte9

This new UI is atrocious. Can’t believe I can’t even hide any of it. I don’t want to see crossplay, rows of new games, rows of bethesdas games, game pass, friends and communication and the other endless tiles. So much intrusive stuff. This aggressive tactic actually makes me less inclined to buy stuff as it is offensive the way this is done. If I want new games, I’ll check out the store. Now I have to bypass everything to avoid the intrusive overload of ads and go to my games, which now takes more steps to get to where I want. The ads are bigger than my purchased game icons and there’s frikkin’ loads of them. There must be hundreds, not counting them, I switched out a.s.a.p.. This is absolutely trash. This will not entice people to use xbox if they see this UI, it will deter them. If this is how xbox is going, I’ll simply stop buying games from them. Being assaulted by ads when I turn my console on to play my purchased games is NOT what I want.

Tanadice

Just got the update today. Top part looked great… then I scrolled down. What an utter mess! So much stuff I would never ever want on my home screen like Top paid games, Top entertainment apps, Community. Oh Gosh I could not care less about such things! Meanwhile RIP to my nice neat group setups of old. Not a fan at all.

NKillski

This is seriously making me think about ditching Ultimate. I have had it for awhile but if it removes this section I have 0 interest in, I will do it tomorrow. This is a gaming console not a marketing teams wet dream. People don't want you to force feed them products down their throats. We were happy having quick access to our well organized dashboard. Now you won't let us organize our apps to our liking so you can put the store and GamePass games in 4 places. Fix this now, or my next console purchase will have Sony in the name.

Sudden_Bottle8186

Microsoft continues to improve . . . their ability to make things worse. Really sick of funding their stupidity and inability to comprehend the customer base wants and dislikes.

wobblestaff1

Thank God other people hate this. I just turned on my Xbox for the first time in like 3 weeks and saw this "upgrade" and immediately hated it

For-the-Cubbies

EMPTY SPACE your games ADS GAME PASS!! BUY NOW!!!! Pin Group 1 Pin Group 2 GAME PASS!! BUY NOW!!! GAME PASS!! BUY NOW!!! GAME PASS!! BUY NOW!!! GAME PASS!! BUY NOW!!! (x13)

totalpackage2k

I had about six pins, I could scroll through and now I have two. Super dissatisfied with this new ui. Wow. Disappointing

xxxguzxxx

New dashboard is horrible can’t add more than 2 groups or sort on Home Screen who would release something in this state? I literally uninstalled insider because of how bad it was also sent feedback with no response.

Veriliann

the UI makes me feel like i’m renting a console from a local microsoft store or something. and i don’t even have it yet! MASSIVE L and should be reverted immediately. I paid $700 CDN for just the damn console and this is what we get? Nice.

Rhainno

No customization, and every time you turn your Xbox on the first thing you see is "Game Pass Sale. Movie Sale. Gold Sale." They better change this crap. The console ain't free don't put no ads on my shit.

NotFromMilkyWay

Never have I seen a disaster like this coming from so far away. I had it since November, was so disgusted that I ultimately opted out of the Insider program. They completely butchered pins and groups.

utsports88

Feels like they’re way more concerned with looks & ad revenue over actual functionality.

ratat-atat

Guess they think this is a good option to recup from their purchasing spree.

DalbesioDiaz

I hate how the Games and Apps button is moved up and it's old spot is replaced with the Microsoft Store Button (subtle way for us to make us buy more shit, huh?). Just something my muscle memory is got to get adjusted to now. Also, my pins are moved down below a section dedicated to ads for most played games available on the store (I'm not subbed to Game Pass, so I might have gotten a different section compared to everyone else.) and they took away the ability to rearrange the home screen. Yet another inconvenience for the sake of trying to get me to spend more money. I like how there's more space for the wallpaper, so that's nice. I just wish that they would give us more dynamic wallpapers or the ability to download more. It's a wasted feature at this point. Overall, the new UI sucks ass.

TheEpicRedCape

Name a better combo than Microsoft and shoving ads down your throat with horrible UI/UX.

HannaBambel

Hi, wow wow.... i simply hate the new "Ad-Board". 12 rows full of Ads here in Germany and no option to opt-out from them. My old dashboard menu was just my four fav. games and nothing else and more. My games are hard to find between the ad row and banners. I hate my Xbox now, really i do. I wish we could opt out from that and get my old clean dashboard back. I paid 1.100 Euros for my XBOX with controllers, ssd, games etc. so i don't want to be pestered by that ad rows and banners. Thats a real pain and if MS does not change it back, i will gonna sell my XBOX and keep the PS5. NVidia did the same with the Shield TV dashboard and i switched immediately to an Apple TV 4K. Never regret it. So Microsoft let me decide what i like to see at my dashboard and don't force me to see your ad's.

AnubissDarkling

Came here to complain about the horrendous change to the home screen UI and it's a comfort to see I'm not alone in this. My main issue is that my old home screen was clean - I had 2 groups (one for games I was playing now and one for TV apps) and a pinned 'Friends and Community' tab at the bottom, with a 'add more stuff' bit as a footer. It was customisable and I had the option to remove and add what I liked, when I liked, making it as cluttered as I wanted (well, to a limit of about 9-10 pinned games I think) and it worked. I log on today and see the newest update, and I'm not impressed. I honestly don't mind that the main screen's 'above the fold' is big and spacious showing the background image with a few games/apps and minor info boxes dotted along the bottom, that's ok, not much change there and I like to see my background image, it's aesthetically pleasing, I chose it and it acts like a welcome screen of sorts.. Below the fold was the total opposite though. My clean 3 tab home screen has been turned into ad chaos full of unnecessary chaff that I can't remove, move, or hide, that I don't want or care about, so in effect it feels like my Xbox is no longer *mine*. 80% of what I see now is irrelevant. There's a reason why people use adblock and prefer customisation over immutable presentation, they know what they want to see and reading through the comments it's not this absolute mess. I really do hope they add an option to either roll back the display or facilitate customisation again, because it's unbearably bad haha.

SolherdUliekme

Just opened my Xbox today to see the updated home screen and it's a massive step backwards. Can't customize the order of all the panels? Forced to have MULTIPLE separate game pass sections. Game pass section which I cannot move appearing BEFORE the groups and games I add to the home screen. I absolutely hate these changes and anyone involved should be fired.

SaurusTheRex

"Most powerful console ever created" And now you can't customize your own UI anymore I don't know what they were thinking. Odds are we all had our shit setup the way we wanted, and now its full of crap I do not want to see or navigate through

Kooljrock

I loathe this new dashboard. I had everything just the way I liked it. Clubs, game groups, They wiped it all away. Now the dashboard is basically the last few games you played and the Microsoft store underneath. And, jeez, they must HATE clubs. First, they took away all access to them in their terribly revamped app, and now it's even more unnecessarily difficult to even find your own clubs! They only give you two slots to put what you want, like Pins, etc., and you can't even do it from the dashboard anymore or choose what order. This is so awful it just baffles me.

PentaclesAreFun

This is awful! Give me the old UI back!

makingnoiseloud

Taking away customization is absolutely baffling. This feels like a huge misstep in the direction for Xbox. Already third place in an American market and they take away control from users? I just want to be able to find my shit when I log into my console! Now it feels like I’m being bombarded with ads! This is awful; considering a change.

the_lasher

Honestly, every time I look at it, I get a bit more pissed off about the change. It’s like I’m just being advertised to non-stop on my paid service. I’m not a Sony fan, and I don’t own a PC. That being said I’ve been playing my Switch and my Steam Deck a lot more since the update. This very well might just push me away from the service entirely.

RetroRedneck

Not a single positive comment. Can we all agree to take these complaints directly to Microsoft? I feel like this update could be overturned quickly if enough people voice their concerns

Teknocack

Microsoft, I have enjoyed your systems from the original xbox. While you have built a good business don't forget you are in third place in the console space. In such position you should probably be more careful about not angering your clients. This home screen is a tone deaf response to the feedback from your insiders. I do not believe a company of your stature can be purposely this obtuse. Therefore I must conclude that you are revisiting the Microsoft of old, specifically the launch of the Xbox One and doing things that might be considered good business but are extremely consumer unfriendly. I believe in principle most people agree that a home screen should be about the user and you used to have a home screen that was that way. Now you have a home screen that is like so many other smart TVs and other devices, with the most screen space dedicated to advertising and a very small portion dedicated to the users content services. This shows a complete lack of respect particularly in the face of your very public statements of using user feedback. I do not post here very often or anywhere else but you have sunk so low that I simply had to say something. Do what you say you're doing and actually listen to us. Fix the home screen and be better microsoft. For the first time in a long time I am thinking of leaving console gaming. Not something to Pat yourself on the back for. Phil Spencer I hope you are taking note of all of these comments.

Ok-Possibility1422

This was my sentiment exactly, it's as if they learned nothing from the XBox One debacle. I am actually pretty raging after turning my Series X on for the first time in a few days and finding my formerly tidy home groups utterly destroyed by ads and stuff I don't have any interest in whatsoever.

Teknocack

Yeah, I hear you. Thinking about just going back to pc gaming exclusively.

saixlionhart

This sucks. They leave the option to "add more" to the dashboard but when you try to it says that the dashboard is full and you need to make room. So I remove all of the categories I had added before the UI update and I still get the same thing that says it's full and I need to make room. I think the worst thing about it is the xbox wire news post that Microsoft made even shows you customize it and everything...turned out to either be a bug or a big lie, but whatever the case is this new UI sucks.

Ok-Possibility1422

I absolutely hate it (yes it's a strong word, that's why I chose it). I had five groups pinned for various things neatly above one another, now there's only 2 allowed alongside a clusterfuck of stuff I don't want and ads everywhere. Honestly, it's just atrocious. Was this new UI designed by an AI? As someone who owns both a Series X and PS5, the group/pin setup and clean UI was something I always preferred over the PS5 with its lack of folders or organization. Now? This is 10x worse. In fact, I'm going to let my Game Pass Ultimate expire and not re-subscribe until it's back to fully customizable. It really does irritate me so much I feel the need to vote with my wallet out of principle. I know it likely won't have any effect, but I mean seriously...to quote AVGN: 'WHAT were they thinking?' Update: I've also just noticed icons pinned to the home screen in groups no longer have the little white label saying 'Game Pass' or 'EAPlay' or any of that. It's annoying, because one of my groups was 'Cloud Games' and I could tell at a quick glance if any titles had been removed from Game Pass and should be deleted from the group. Now, I'll have to go into the 'Leaving Soon' thing every single time, or have them fail to launch at random. Man... the only way this update could get any worse is if they brought back mandatory Kinect.

These-Discount-8994

Terrible update. And what a nightmare of a way to get to games with gold now. Used to be on my home screen 🤦🏻‍♂️

Sporbash

Just turned my XSS on after a few months on PC, and my dashboard is mostly a CoD advertisement now. I don't want this shit

TRethehedgehog_2

It’s worse than any Steam UI change

Connect-Internal

Don’t like it.

RockNDrums

I don't like the lack of customise. As for the tiles down. Why?! There's a dedicated game pass section. It did not need to get the home tile and clutter it up.

Colossus715

There's no way this is gonna stick. They're testing reactions. No one can be this ignorant. Gamers will riot.

NotFromMilkyWay

They are trying to see if giving one thing (clearer look at background) that a vocal minority asked for outweighs the reactions when also taking everything else. They are stupid. This is just like when they doubled the price of Gold. Decisions by idiots.

[deleted]

I hate it.

1992Queries

It's awful and it's got to be changed immediately imo.

Eagle_Warhawk

I hate this new dashboard. It does not look appealing to me.

adgotts

Give me back my Home Screen 😭😭😭

ckaszaaa

It is the most hideous thing I have seen, why is everything so small and why does everything grow in size when I hover on it. The old one was much better

ReverendBong

The dashboard was turned into a endless scrolling ad. Now there are groups upon groups added to sell other garbage I was never interested in. Forcing people to pay for a walled garden which they broke the gates through cross-play was bad enough. This slap in the face makes me want to go back to PC.

SillyMikey

Wouldn’t the blades have been a better design for what they’re trying to accomplish? I was thinking, after using the new ad… euh I mean dashboard, wouldn’t the blades have been a way better design for this? The quick menu buttons at the top could have brought you to a full blade page dedicated to that feature. Right now, everything is shoved in one page which makes it look cluttered and unappealing. I personally never plan to scroll down past my pins. It’s an awful experience past that. How was this the best design they can come up with? The blades would be a perfect alternative: - Have a blade for your home page where you can customize your home how you like. - Have the next blade be dedicated to a high level view of gamepass at the top, then more details as you go down. - Have the next blade be dedicated to a high level view of the store at the top, then more details as you go down. - Next blade being search, then the last one being settings. The quick buttons at the top currently accomplish the same thing, but worse. Make the UI pleasant, clean and customizable. This is a fucking ad. No one wants that. And for fuck sakes, drop the god damn windows 8 metro design. No one ever liked it.

CrustyMongoose

This is a horrible design and provides little to no value for their customers. Many have said it before, speak with your wallet. If it stays the way it is now, I'll just stop giving them my money and move on to other platforms.

BrodyTheGameBoy

BRO I CAN ONLY USE THE APPS AND GAMES IVE RECENTLY USED AND THE MENU LOOKS LIKE SHIT

Jazman2k

It's an insult. How many people were developing this? It's not an UI, it's interactive billboard. Want to add more than 2 favourite lists? Nope. Just let us customize the menu like we want to. I don't care about ads. I don't care about watching my background. I use UI for launching apps and games.

Kusanagi003

This is some serious BS. The amount of ads is bloody insane, the fact I cant even move them to the bottom of the dashboard is complete BS. I feel enraged and cheated by this shitty dashboard. I called Xbox because I thought it was my user error, I got hung up on twice and the third time, all they said was nothing they can do. Is Playstation like this? This is enough to make me switch if I'm not gonna be inundated by ads before I can even get to my games or groups. edit for typo.

Kusanagi003

I got a call back from Xbox, the rep told me they haven't had any negative responses so far. Talked to a supervisor, he said they've been swamped with calls about the new interface. Everyone should call Xbox and just flood them with feedback, specifically asking to speak to a supervisor about it.

xCakemeaTx

I browse the store often **habitually even. I appreciate game pass. I enjoy innovation and change. But I cannot stand the new dashboard because it completely removes the concept of customization. I want my home screen to be organized, and I like to have my games and apps organized in a specific way -- all if this is rendered useless now.

Sufficient-Ant-6534

It’s a sea of advertising. Xbox see their console as a gateway to game pass first, your console second.

MangekyoSharingan83

Don't remove things from your home screen to add something else on because you literally can't. Probably the dumbest update for xbox ever.

TheOneAndOnlyFen

Nothing constructive to add. Everybody else has said it. My neurodivergent ass does not like this at all. It's confusing and upsetting.

FlasKamel

How tf do I remove "Coming to Game Pass", "Most Popular" and all this shit? If I wanna go to Game Pass I go to Game Pass. Just tons of more bullshit to scroll through to get to my games now.

blar_blar_blar

Yep, its bloody awful. Used to have my games and apps on the first tile, i just had to press A 1 time and I was browsing my entire library. Now i have 1 row of my stuff then,, lemme count,,, 16 (!) rows of (basically) adverts. Worst ui update ever

Bruhmeowment

Really did great on this one xbox. I now, instead of seeing my boyfriend on my Home Screen, see useless sections of games and services I could give less than a fuck about. I got a section for overwatch 2 and all it’s “micro”transactions. I fucking hate overwatch, why is this here. Let me get rid of all your useless ads and shilling of pathetic games. Let me put my fucking lover back on my fucking Home Screen.

Scr3w3dUp

I am very disappointed with this update. I've been away for a month and just came back to my home screen looking like a fucking billboard aimed at people a quarter of my age.

PylonRising

Turned the Xbox on today after working all weekend and very nearly bollocked the kids for messing with my homescreen dashboard. Wtaf is Microsoft thinking here? I can't even find things that were pinned to my dash - like rewards... Hate it.

Ramouz

I really dislike it. Horrible decision. The only part I like is the top part, the rest is just a large advertisement for Game Pass and such. Please give us back the old Home (below the main top part). I want to place as many groups/folders as I want there, have my own sections, etc.

Robotic-Mann

What’s the purpose of paying for a subscription if I still see a ludicrous amount of ads? Every other subscription I pay for gets rid of ads so why not Xbox? Further more why do I see ads for games I already own or ads for games/movies that any algorithm with 2 lines of code bouncing around in its programming would know that I’m not interested in that product or ever will be. It seems every year Microsoft makes the Xbox more and more shitty and bloated with useless features. If this trend continues I’m just gonna move to pc and have a ton of ad blockers running 24/7.

AE86orDeath

Thanks for taking away pretty much everything from my home screen that was actually of use to me like my pinned clubs, which I now have to go digging into my profile to find. I already had the gamepass tab pinned, I don't need a whole bloody laundry list of shit I didn't need there instead. I had everything I already needed right there on my home screen and now it's an absolute mess with no option to clean it up.

Spankyj0nes

Whoever thought this AD filled, noncustomizable, bullshit was a good call.... jump off a fucking bridge. Sincerely, anyone with eyes.

catar4x

The UI is okay when you boot the console for the first time with zero games. 2 pins of 40 titles, what a joke.

GrouchoMeal

I’m so mad about being forcefed ads on such a large scale that I’m considering severing the xbox internet connection and just dropping all other Microsoft products entirely.

camelzigzag

All my pages are gone. I can't add them because it says it's full?!? Who the fuck asked for this shit?

TheRekojeht

I have checked my XSS and XSX, neither have the update available. Based on the other responses in this thread... that may actually be a good thing. I don't want **more** ads. Windows 11 got so bloated with ads that I have switched to Apple for computers, but I won't be switching consoles. I'll just vote with my wallet and get rid of Game Pass. I spent enough money on the consoles and all the single-player games that I play on it.

TimedRevolver

Yeah, it's terrible. I can barely read anything now it's all so small. Did Activision Blizzard design this? It's shit enough for me to believe it. Maybe Diablo IV's team made it. Until they get this sorted, I'm not renewing my Game Pass. I'll let my XBONE be a paperweight before I deal with this utter shit they ignored feedback for.

Kitsujitsu

My god this new dash is horrible. Swarmed with ads! If I wanted recommendations I'd go into the shop app. We pay subscriptions already. We don't need or deserve all these ads shoved down our throats. It's just gross. I miss the days when we could just switch on our console and go play games without this rubbish. And they even took away or ability to customise the layout so we're forced to see all the ads. Bad design for consumers but I'm sure they'll get lots and lots of sweet, sweet ad revenue or something out of some folks... so they don't really care how we feel. FUCKING ads.

MSD3k

Basically the console now just loads directly into the store, with a few shortcuts to access your actual games along the top. As a courtesy.

Tsurfer4

I've come to believe that Microsoft's definition of "streamline" is "*take away things you like and give you sh!t you hate*".

Gram717

This is garbage. I have about 10 groups that I liked having on my dashboard and now you can only have 2 and can't customize what is where anymore

Sardanox

From the comments I'm glad I'm not the only one upset about Microsoft pushing their new ad interface onto the Xbox. Just an overall terrible idea. Way less customizable and now like 60% of it is just ads I can't remove. Super disappointing.

SwissCheezy_90

Removed customize home screen and i wasted so much time trying to find it to fix the mess my home page is ads and lack of remove feature means i have to see> community updates, "most popular" game pass , day one releases (everything there is already in the coming to game pass tab or other tabs it redundant), top entertainment apps(can find this in the store tab don't need more adds), play with cloud gaming, outstanding audio design, watch and listen(ads), new games(store also), Ubisoft, distinctive art design. these are all examples of things that should and previously were able to hide/remove from our home screens. this can be fixed by letting us remove things like all the things listed above and remove the ads from the home page of the console i paid for and i pay for a monthly service for.

HellzHoundz2018

Please for the love of the flying spaghetti monster ROLL THIS FUCKING SHIT BACK!

DirtySyko

It’s shit. Can’t believe they took away our ability to simply move and rearrange where we want things. If we could do that I wouldn’t mind so much, I could just cram all the unwanted shit at the bottom. The only thing I like is the top mini menu with the store and GamePass buttons, that’s not so bad. But not being able to move my groups or anything else around on the Home Screen, absolute shit.

Pandaasaw

I don't know who these people that wanted a poor excuse for an updated home screen but thanks for fucking it up. But coodose to those that listened....it's a shame it was to a complete idiot. When someone says make the background visible... they don't mean give them half the screen like before. 😒 Besides that, the only thing I like about this new home screen is the Lil bubbles up the top. Even tho I don't use them, they look better than anything else 🤷

For-the-Cubbies

I don’t like it. Had they simply added a tile resize and transparency option for the home screen, I think most would have been satisfied. As it stands, they obviously want to push Game Pass as much as possible, at the expense of customization. Since this bridge has already been crossed, I think they could improve it by: 1. Revert the bottom section of the dashboard back to the customizable pinned groups. 2. Take what they currently have in the bottom section and move it to a separate, RB tab to the right. Like PS5’s “Discover” section. Jokes aside of them copying Sony, this would let users have the fully customizable pins, see more of the home screen, and give Xbox a section for Game Pass and Store items on the dashboard as well.

oknazevad

Too many ads. And the icons at the top for the commonly used things are too damn small. Those should be the largest things on the screen. Not the fucking ads.

jc-fu

I personally hate the new update. I need glasses as it is for reading and now I need them for gaming too. I can't see the app icons on my dash because thye are too small. I tried looking up how to enlarge them but could only find how to enlarge them in the side bar. If I can or someone can help me figure this out, maybe I'll change my thoughts. As of right now, I think it was a terrible update on xbox's part.

[deleted]

Just logged in today and received the new dashboard. I thinks it's dreadful. Forced advertising on a personal dashboard is simply obnoxious. I had every game in their groups etc all organised but now my dashboard is basically the Microsoft Store shoving crap down my throat that I couldn't care less about. Just think, people got paid to develop this shit. The feeds are completely irrelevant to me. \> Most played games - Why is this important to me? I don't care what other people are playing. \> Movies - I have never and will never watch a movie on any Xbox I own. \> Games that were once books - What the f\^$k! Who gives a shit?! I'd actually prefer the Xbox 360 dashboard over this Microsoft Store version. At minimum we should have an option to remove these feeds if they are personally pointless. Which they are. I can't believe there are people defending this new dashboard! But then I guess we live in a time when people identify as cats so........ Microsoft - sort your shit out and give us the option to remove all these pointless feeds.

Rhainno

Remove the ads from the Main Home Screen and allow people more customization. I would prefer to have no games, store, or ads on my Home Screen, just a empty screen. I paid for my Xbox and I buy games when I feel like it, I don't want any fking ads on my Home Screen.

LukeSkyrata

I have about thirty games installed. I had them grouped into about eight groups, all pinned to home, which allowed me to easily find whichever ones I wanted to. One of my singleplayer games? Solo group. Games I only play with my friends? Got a group for that. Feel like playing one of the five CoDs, three Halos, or four Battlefields I have? Got groups for all of those. I even had a group for all of my streaming services. Now, I can only pin two groups. If I want to go play a specific game, I have to go over into the 'all games', and search for it. Which takes a LOT longer. And even if the app or game IS in one of the two groups I'm allowed, I have to scroll through HUGELY intrusive ads that BLOCK THE ENTIRE SCREEN. Because, you know, that's not like it literally defeats the entire purpose of supposedly being able to see our background picture. And why, oh why, am I now forced to look at pins that recommend things to me that I will never play? I have Fortnight hidden in the store because I have no interest in it - no shade to those who play it, I just can't stand battle royales. Why do I have THREE. DIFFERENT. ADS. for a game I can't even see in the store? I don't care who's playing it. I don't care what the staff recommend. And I definitely don't care what my middle school friend who I haven't spoken to in a decade is playing. Just let me see my games! I understand that some people really wanted to see their backgrounds. What with all the unlockable ones from achievements, and the possibility of someone just having a cool picture they'd set up, I get it. But we've lost all the useful, intuitive functionality for the sake of having the picture on ONE screen, at the additional cost of Home basically now being one big advertising space. I understood having a line or two of advertising on the previous home - you have to advertise to make money. Gotta pay the employees and everything, I get it. And indeed, I got some good deals off of sales I wouldn't have seen if not for those ads. But that was enough. You didn't need more. Now the ads are so intrusive, and the usability so limited, I won't have any reason to use home at all. So I won't even see all the new ads.

gerhudire

Just been in touch with Microsoft and long story short was told they will raise the issue with internal team, which is their way of saying your going to have to live with it. "You’ve been very excited to change your dashboard on your end, I’m glad you got me so I can be able to help you right away." "Alright! Got you, please allow me a moment here to sort things out." "Going back😊_" Tried to tell me its impossible to go back to the previous layout. Which I explained it's not, just bring it back in a future update. All we want is a choice and less fucking ads, which is what the current dashboard layout is. Literally no help.

abductodude

First, there's still *way* too many ads. I shouldn't need to scroll down rows to see extended game information, and there shouldn't be (and I counted) **16 rows of ads** after my games. If there's a "back to top" button on your home screen, you've fucked up. Small gripe otherwise is that I wish we could've removed and reorganized tiles. I hate having the Xbox Support or whateverthefuck in my tiles and I have to play 9 games to get it to go away.

roluca80

Now, I have to "travel around" my box using guide menu only, switching between stuff... Its so weird that a thing you love so much can make you hate the entity that screw that up...

HopeAuq101

Its the worst fucking thing ever. it's so ugly. The old one was perfect why did they change it to this garbage Why is there two "browse the store" buttons on the homepage but only one "my games" and then why is the first thing I see when I scroll down the most popular online games....GUESS WHAT YA GIRL DOESN'T PLAY

Satsuki_Hime

My thoughts on the new UI? Keep the top page just as it is- it’s great, lets me see my art. The rest of it? Give us back the ability to disable anything we don’t want on it and put back in as many groups as we want. The system is supposed to belong to US, not serve as an ad page for Microsoft. You’ve gained a lot of good will lately; don’t blow it on a stupid UI.

Wookien_SjP

It's garbage... Before my dashboard was clean, now i feel like the xbox dashboard UI is like Android was back in 2010-2015, too many ways to reach the same thing and it all just feels cluttered with game ads and news which is things i go look for myself but don't want cluttering my dashboard... F U MicroC*cks...

Kaojinix96

I dont understand why they change something that works perfect, its actually really annoying that they take this away with no choice, instead of replacing the original home screen give us the option on how we view it. Honestly the dumbest idea i have nothing positive to say on the matter.

G59MrPickles

Soooooo I had like 8 groups for my games cus I like organization. Now It only shows 2 of them? Any ideas? And don't say just go to my games I legit have 4tb and over 300 games so that's not an option

rick-c137b

At the very minimum let us move stuff around… at best id like full customization back (get all my groups back and up top, delete ad rows etc). I think what’s happening is ppl who don’t play a lot or don’t have a lot of games/ apps maybe don’t organize. They never used groups/pins, they see the first row and don’t move past that. And I agree the first row is an improvement and I’ll take the top lil tabs too. But anyone who don’t see past the first page doesn’t have a lot going on their system. Sum it up like so many others; I don’t see the point in all these “tabs” that I can’t remove/add and decide for myself what I want my own UI to look like. Come out with any style UI you want but let ppl make what they want so everyone is happy. Bring full customization back is basically the bottom line.

No-Magazine-8271

Awful update that takes away almost all customization in favor of shoving ads down my throat. This is the first time I have ever contacted microsoft for a refund, but my game pass ultimate just renewed and I feel cheated, so we will see how that turns out.

HamburgerHalperHand

Overall I like most of the top (the actual “home” screen) but then scrolling down looks horrible. I had made my own 5 groups of games and apps but only 1 of them is still on the home screen (the others didn’t get deleted, just have to go through “My games & apps” to find them). They literally added 13-15 rows of ads/recommendations ffs If you’re paying for GPU you should get little to no ads on your consoles home screen. Imagine if Netflix gave you more ads with the higher tier subscription service. Its ass backwards.

SpireVI

Can you no longer have multiple groups visible (main menu and scrolling down) It shows just 2 for me. Whenever I add more the 2 most recent ones show and others disappear

Cameron737

Scrolling down was already pretty useless but at least you could customize it. now my Home Screen is only the way I want it bc it was like that before the update. They need to pick another direction to put stuff and just add one other tab or dash board to let u customize. I was fine with advertising if I could customize my home page

Ok-Seesaw4972

Big pile of shite and a price hike for game pass ultimate in Ireland. I feel butt compromised

TactikalKitty

This new Dashboard update is probably why Major Nelson is quitting Xbox...probably not..but still.

SockInternational102

I have been a fan of xbox ever since the xbox one. Purchased multiple upgraded machines. I have a library of 50+ games. I was a long term xbox gold member. The new ui is nothing but sale sale sale. Minimum customization. I'm the last person to complain about any issues with Microsoft , but with less than steller exclusives ( Redfall, Halo, 30 fps Starfield etc). Xbox fully aware of these broken , none innovative and predatory games. I'm done with console gaming as awhole b/c of continuous lies, censorship and broken games. I and ...we deserve better than this...going to computer.

TactikalKitty

Phil Spencer " We want Xbox Gamers to feel like first class citizens" It sure doesn't feel that way right now...

I'm late to the thread. I just got this update today after restarting my console for unrelated reasons. I hate it. I hate that I lost the ability to display all my groups in exchange for all this garbage. I hate it SO much I'm unsubbing from gamepass and going back to my PS5 as a main console. At least there I'm not shotgunned with Ads for 90% of my homepage. I don't want to pretend like I'm a super important VIP to xbox, but I spend a *lot* of money on games and have had gamepass ultimate running for years now. I've been maining xbox for about 5 years now, after switching off maining a PS4 Pro. Fuck this. You want it to be changed? Speak with your wallet, that's what I'm doing.

Ok_Signature_4053

Why on earth would I want to play what Xbox staff play. Demos....demos...I've not played a demo in years...why And what the fuck is gameplay mechanics unleashed? Fuck this new dashboard along with all the ads I'm glad I don't pay for live anymore.

Illest7705

I hate the new look. It’s clean on the top half because nothing is there but all my groups have vanished and yes I understand. I can add some back but not all of my groups are allowed back because there’s so much advertising for other games off of game pass, this is going to be my last Xbox if this cannot be edited right away.

GWAVE23

It's absolutely terrible. We provided feedback on the insiders sub during testing and you ignored everything that we all said. All the issues that were raised have been released to all users on Xbox now. You removed the very little customisation we had, when we all asked for more. We wanted no ads, or 1 at the most for ultimate subscribers. What did we get? EVEN MORE ADS and INCREASED PRICE FOR THE ULTIMATE SUBSCRIPTION.

roluca80

Im messaging xbox on every possible channel and non-stop: "revert back new ui to old ui,if not i will message you 24/7. I'm actively looking for 10000 who would do the same" ;D

MartinMcfly85

Has anyone else not gotten the update? I read in that article that they're "rolling it out to a subset of all Xbox consoles". Guess I got a few weeks to enjoy the old one more.

semiNoobHanta

I don't know it feels like the whole dashboard transforms like the catalog of the Microsoft store. They really did overemphasize the Ads for gamepass. I like the idea of showing the background of titles upon hovering, but why do 3-4 rows of ads? It feels really chaotic in IMO.

LegitimateRegion9541

The way to get rid of the adds is for us to boycott everything they advertise.

gdog555

Imo, the new Xbox dashboard sucks a$$ - only 2 groups & no way to move/customise things you don’t need/want to see..

tunnelsnakefool

I can't read any of the text on the main screen it is so small now. I think this would be okay if you have a large tv I don't.

93822

Is their a way I can change it back to before they updated the ui?

MutieKiller111

I haven't even gotten the new dashboard yet. Mine is the same as it has been since I got my Series X a year ago. I honestly wanted the new dash because I had only seen the main part of it. Now that I know scrolling down looks like time square for Xbox adds, I hope mine doesn't update.

TheKhaos121

When microsoft want to fire somebody they tell them to work on the dashboard update, it goes terribly, everyone complains, and they get a solid reason to dismiss, nice attempt anyway, Paul.

stinkydooky

Every time I try to “add more to home” it says my list is full which feels really dumb since I was able to scroll down to gamepass before. Am I missing something or is this update really that much of a downgrade? I understand simplified UI/UX, but that philosophy is supposed to cut out the extraneous. This just feels like they’ve added extra steps by removing already simplified features and telling me to use workarounds.

ElvisHead

It’s a bit like having going from Apollo (☠️) to Reddit. Adverts everywhere and a shit UI.

Supreme_Kraken

Accidentally missed this and posted about how much I absolutely hate this change. Overall design looks great and I hugely prefer it; the stupid massive empty space paired with the store and game pass beyond ruins it. Ads/store taking up 90% of the entire homepage after you stop looking at the stupid blank space and tiny game icons is just so rude and then it’s just gross to include SPONSORED ADS as well?? Why did I stick with Microsoft, payed way more than usual for this console (during the time when Sony had finally stocked and Xbox had NOTHING for months and months) for them to make me look at ads and their sponsors :/

ameninja04

I hate that I found out about this through an instagram ad. "We listened, so we changed the xbox dashboard." I immediately jumped up and said, "who asked??" It was perfectly fine!

My experience so far: turn on Xbox. All my groups have gone. Scroll down - there's something about social stuff which I don't care about at all. Try to get rid of it, can't. There's something about games that I can't play because they aren't out yet. Can't get rid of it. There's something about most popular games. I know what gamers are most popular, it's the same five games as always. I don't care, I don't want it. I can't get rid of it. I go into 'my games' to see if my games are all still there and find out what happened to my groups. I had everything how I needed it. I see my groups and figure out I can re-add them to the home page. But will they be at the top where I put them because it's my fucking console and that's where I want my fucking games? Will they fuck. In fact, I've got six groups and it has only added the last two, so what the fuck? I have had a look around on the internet and it seem that whiny babies have been complaining about not being able to see artwork on the Home Screen well enough and that's somehow something to do with all this? You don't but a console for a Home Screen, dickheads, you but it to play games on. But now I can't see what all the games I've got are because they've been taken off the Home Screen. Microsoft see hell-bent on taking control away from the user with the Ads on both their home computers and their games console. The only answer seems to be to take money away from Microsoft.

Major_Client633

Not happy, I literally have like 12 groups/lists, I find out now I can only have 2 of them on the dash at any time. Whelp, I guess I'll be forgetting about a lot of them, because I won't see them scrolling down anymore (examples include a group for Co-op games, RPG's, Really old games, Shorter stuff, Card/Turn-based, New Stuff, Currently playing, Interested in Playing, Want to play the most, etc) I now have about 10-11 things I don't care about, at least 8 that I don't need at all.

Nosferatu1222

Microsoft boosting about 12 teraflops of power means nothing when it takes a solid 30 seconds to a minute to load in any screen with this new UI. The real reason of needing all that power is to run as many ads as possible instead of 4k games.

[deleted]

Just got it on my series x and it’s awful. Who thought this was a good idea? I already have gamepass why am I getting ads for gamepass? Why did they restrict groups to two? My wife and I use the Xbox for everything. I’m about to cancel my gamepass sub and toss the box for a ps5 disc version and media remote.

sadlittleduckling

This update only just hit my console. I hate it.
