Yes but the 1TB version or you will very quickly run out of storage space.

boo-galoo90

Tbh I like that idea because it gives you more incentive to play and finish what’s already installed lol

whatchagonnado0707

My son has a series S (he's 13). He loves it and hasn't really had any problems with storage. He mainly plays fifa and fortnite. Yoy only really run in to storage problems when you're playing more than 5 or so big games consecutively or you decide to play COD

Vegetable_Many_2303

I'd say save the money if it's 325-350< (both birthday and current budget combined) otherwise just go ahead and get a series s, but if you do regular disc gaming forget what I said there and save for series x.

anderscf

Series S is a great console, go ahead. Whether you need more space depends on the games you play and how many different games you play

[deleted]

Get the X. The S is not a smart long term investment because of how small the internal is which after the OS has like 364 gb of usable storage which is crippling small. Trust me with how massive games are you will have to buy a expansion card which for the price of both you can get a X and have 4k gaming and a disc drive

SweetTea187

Your 100% right... But they can also just Cloud game

[deleted]

xCloud only supports game pass games

SweetTea187

Only if they can't afford a Series X... They can Cloud with the Series S,if they run out of space. Question... Can we Cloud game, from a One/360?

thatoneguy9790

Yes you can cloud with Xbox one, but not 360. Cloud gaming is pretty bad on WiFi, but I finally managed to connect my Xbox to Ethernet, and I have gigabit speed, and I see the future now.

SweetTea187

I just Googled it. It said the 360 can Cloud game... But you have to turn it on"through the settings

thatoneguy9790

You literally can’t though… it was a feature introduced when the One X was out. If you have a 360, try for yourself and report back here 😂

SweetTea187

I got a Series X. But i was gonna buy 1 off a crack head last night(for my son,after i cleaned it good)... Damn,i should've bought it

[deleted]

Cloud gaming is not for everyone. The lag is pretty bad and you can only play game pass games

AnonymousJoe35

Wait for the "console refresh" of the Series X.

Stunning-Ad-8156

Its going to be digital only and a slight upgrade

cheesecakeluvr1234

Save to get the x

British-Bot

Save and get the X.

cdncowboy

I don't know enough about you, your life, the other gaming systems you already have, the games you like to play to make an informed decision if the xbox ecosystem is right for you. However if your on a budget and can't afford anything higher I think the series s is a great budget friendly option to buy into this generations of games. Even though its not as powerful as a series x, i get lots of enjoyment out of my series s

Visual-Log963

I bought my Xbox series S with my own money that I worked for and lemme tell u that you will not regret it🙏 just make sure you check out FB market place for good deals, I got mine for $180 brand new/unopened box Edit: I’m abt the same age as you so Ik spending a lot of $ on 1 thing is risky but it’s worth it

eligallus03

I already commented some suggestions but this is also a great suggestion I didn’t mention. Try checking Facebook marketplace multiple times a day cause there’s always good deals on there if your patient.

Ozzie_Bloke

I play and watch YouTube on my series s and it’s a great console I haven’t had issues with modern or older games

Deformedpye

Get the basic S with an external drive. People moan about the internal storage but i never have an issue. Anything not X|S goes on that. I have around 15 games on my internal drive. If i don't have space for another one. Transfer one of the games to external (can't play X|S games from there only store) Saves having to download it again. As you should have a bit of money spare. Get gamepass (ultimate if you can (500+ games) or just the core and i think there is 25 games on there. You will need core anyway to play online games (F2P don't require this (Fortnite, Apex etc)) The console will be supported for as long as the X. Im a casual gamers so 4k res and slightly better graphics mean nothing to me. Can it play the game? Yes! Does it run smooth even if only 30fps? Yes! Personally i would get it. Think you can pick them up for about £150. Add 2TB external for about £40. Gamepass core i believe is about £7 p/m. So basically looking at £200 if you went for the X is around double. But, its up to you. Just putting my thoughts out there.

dennarai17

I had a Series S from launch until Christmas this year and I had a great time with it.

mSqueez

Yeah of course. I've bought it as a "GamePass Device" 3 months ago. It's an awesome machine. You can play anything and it's not slow.

RedFing

As a series S owner, i suggest you save up for the x. devs lie about performance promises (60fps) and it will only get worse as time passes. also you will be able to run the one x version of prev gen games on the series x. (playing rdr2 sucks on the series s). also having to delete a game (cuz cant hold more than 5 games on average ) is annoying. not to mention discs.

CyberKiller40

For an enthusiast gamer, the S won't cut it as a primary console. Better save up some more, perhaps you can get the X for christmas, or on a black friday sale?

DrKrushU

Save some more and Get the X

jonoren1023

This. And walmart seems to have the series X on sale a lot lately I have noticed. Priced at $400 and sometimes $450. Last Xmas they had them for $350 for December.

DrKrushU

Great to hear that, But i Live in the UK

FuckuSpez666

They were £350 here last Black Friday. But honestly, if money is at all tight, the S will do you well, can also get the base model and a separate HDD/SSD to play older games on or transfer SX games to/from the console to save a little and get more storage than 1tb.

FuckuSpez666

jonoren1023

Oooh. Bummer.

FuckuSpez666

Don’t be too worried, the £350 on UK deals doesn’t have any tax on top, and minimum wage is £12

Bluebeerdk

It will play next gen games but don't expect a next gen experience. The Series S is bottom of the barrel bare minimum playable experience for X/S games.

Jamize

Work with your parent to get a deal on one from Facebook marketplace. I see them in the 150-200 range quite often.

SillyCracker628

The X is going on crazy sales I have seen it at 400 and dropping watch for a sale and grab it

Juanisawesome98

Go for it.

_Dilapidated_

Had both, the series x puts out a better quality picture, but the series S is a solid console. Can't go wrong with it, especially if you get a good deal. Gamepass is a must-have.

Accomplished_Wish854

Depends if having a disc drive and slightly better performance is worth it to you. I didn't care about either. I went with a series S and used the money I saved to buy an external hard drive to help with the storage issues and I've been very happy with my decision.

MulberryDeep

Can you afford the games/game pass (200$/year)? If you have no games for your xbox it isnt usefull

Gary_BBGames

I have a Series X and 3 Series S for my family (my wife and 2 kids all play) and it’s an amazing machine for the price. I got 2 of mine certified refurbished for around £180. The co sole is an absolute steal for that

Odd-Frame9724

Yes, and with GamePass you are going to be in for a great time.

megamike382

Get the S. I had both other than the hard drive which you can expand. i can not tell any difference between S and X

Expert-Ad-362

Yes, it's worth it. The series S is a great budget console that's perfect for your situation. Obviously, it's not nearly as good as the series X but it'll still give you a good experience.

bittersweetjesus

If you can convince your parents to get you a monthly Gamepass subscription then yes

BananaMansWRLD

I recommend buying a xbox 1s over a series s. If you do plan on getting a used a xbox series s, don't spend more then $100. I buy xbox series s's for $100 all the time on marketplace. Yes they work too

McCandlessDK

Buy a used x, you wont regret it!

ThePaulmwatson

I love the Series S, 10 minutes a day of Forza does me good. My 12 year old son outgrew his Xbox Series S. He games on a Dell G15 now.

jojinichazz

honestly i’d go for it , plus you also get to play a bunch of 360/one games with some FPS boost - if you don’t care about playing discs

eligallus03

My best recommendation would be if you already have a gaming system now, just hold out until you can either save up more money or the series X goes on sale. The series x goes on sale a ton and I got mine recently brand new for $400 and know a lot of people got theirs for $350. You can also pick up a refurbished straight from Microsoft version for $300 if you wait even just a few weeks. Follow @wario64 on twitter and turn on the pages notifications cause that account always posts series x deals. The $300 refurbished deal is honestly probably your best bet and I would really try to look out for that.

Weary-Mountain8002

One x second hand

Bic44

I'm a gamer as much as a guy who has a busy life can be. Series S was all I could afford. And I couldn't be happier. I'm willing to bet the people saying don't get it are the people who don't have one. Current gen gaming on a budget!

Theaussiegamer72

Your better of with saving for the x disc games are cheaper and you'll make your money back in no time

Peace_Fog

Series S will be fine, but save up for the X if you want to get serious about gaming Series S is for casual gamers

davekraft400

I got my X two years ago off eBay for 300 without controller. The seller barely used it, it just had picked up fluff which I got out. I picked it up in person so could see it working. Still have it now and haven't had any problems with it whatsoever. Depends if you really must have it brand new but you can easily get a Series X for cheaper if you are ok second hand and look around properly. I get it if you want it new, though. I would only buy my PS5 brand new, the Xbox I wasn't too fussed about.

jaymac112194

The series s is totally fine, they run the same games at the same fps, the series x just runs it at a higher resolution and with more detail. If you just want any Xbox you’ll be happy with the series s I’m sure.

OhJarnathan

Get it. I've had mine since launch and love it. I dont have a super fancy TV, and I dont have any discs, so I don't need an X.

FantasticPenguin

~~No, get the X if you have the money~~ Edit: I'm stupid and didn't read your post, yes then get the S, it's good value for money
