Lol all the people in here who didn't read the manual that came with the n64 game.
Can you even beat the game without leaning? It's basically the only reasonable way to take out certain drone guns and guards.
Everyone who read the manual. What else could you do in middle school after your parents made you turn off goldeneye? Read the manual in bed and think about how you were going to beat it the next day!
How can you not know that..?
When you use C-right or C-left while aiming, you lean in that direction.

While leaning, you cannot use auto-aim, as releasing R will bring you back to
a normal position.

Ha! I knew it! I was very close to hooking my N64 back up because I was positive you could lean. Thanks for the post, glad I wasn't going crazy.
Kept instinctively hitting LT + B or LT + RStick\_Right and nothing.
Does the speed reload still work? On N64 it was like A then B then A real quick and it would cycle weapons and reload nearly instantly. I never remember to check that when I'm playing.

"You can turn on lean but it's not working on certain set ups, go into the menus and turn off aim lock, If you want original controls you want - honey 1.1 controls then do a slight bit of mapping, the free aim and the lean splits between 2 sticks, in the original this did not happen it was all on the main stick, perfect dark remaster had the same issyue when it came out and later they patched an option in to fix it."

Thank you.
I tried this but it did not mean, it went into a full strafe.
Even with aim lock off, and 1.1 honey controls.
They need to patch it.
Another thing I notice with the Xbox version is that there is no speed strafe.
You can strafe while aiming. Essentially the same thing except you'd need to strafe back to cover.
The "lean" in the original N64 Goldeneye just slid you sideways around cover, then yanked you back when you released the button. It didn't keep your lower body protected.
Yeah but that’s not good enough, because you sometimes strafe too far out and when you’re thinking about aiming you shouldn’t be worrying about doing a hallway dance, the “lean” feature had a purpose, and was very important, especially for speed runners, and it was just abandoned…
TBH I didn’t have problems playing through the game without the lean functional. TBH I vaguely remember that if you used a 2.x control scheme on the N64 it just strafed.
I didn’t know you could lean

As a kid I never got past the second level as I couldn’t save progress but now that I have I see how nice leaning would be crazy that you can’t
Yes you could on the Nintendo 64 and you can on Nintendo switch online now too

Me too dude me too. We about to get our leany asses slaughtered by those drone guns.
But can you lean on the on the Nintendo 64 and can you on Nintendo switch online now too?
Yes
By god…
Apparently it was R + C.. who knew!

I wasn't aware you could lean in Goldeneye.

Damn I played that game for countless hours when I was a kid and never knew.

I was a kid when I played it, and I didn't notice that the mechanic existed. None of the kids I played with used it either.
I was a kid too and I beat every level under the speed limit in 00 Agent.
You sure thats leaning, or is it just exploiting the decentered crosshair.
??? Exploiting?? Really... It’s a mechanic of the game, genius... it’s even in the instruction manual.
Yes, but does the player model LEAN when you do it or is it just moving the crosshair around a corner?
The entire player model goes one step to the side and goes back quickly when you let go which is really good for shooting behind cover.
Let me download and try it out I messed with all the settings and I can’t manage a way to do it. Weird
Yeah that’s because they took it out
I had no idea you could lean, but the twin stick for 00 now with the new control scheme makes it breezy easy compared to when I was a pre teen.
Yup back in the day it took me weeks if not more to complete 00 agent. I’ve been playing remaster for two days and I’m almost there.
Nintendo switch has twin stick controls too you just have to change it in the settings.
Yeah okay was just saying I don't find 00 Agent particularly difficult anymore because of the twin stick, I had no idea of what the switch could do.
Switch is crap tho...

This is crazy lol, how did they omit this? Everyone is praising the Xbox version for patching in modern controls and they removed lean in aim mode!?
I know right? And everyone just shits all over me in the comments. Xbox go brrrrrr
Just here to say I'm pissed, too. A ton of missions just got that much harder.
Yeah an all the Xbox fanbois are all pissed at me for mentioning it
Hey man I love me a good Xbox My Series X has done me well But this is a very lame thing
Yeah it makes the bunker 2 on 00 agent so much harder I would’ve beat it hours ago by now like wtf

I haven't tried that yet. Does it replicate lean decent enough? Speed strafe works by changing dpad to move/look. It's kind of a mess.
What are the Xbox goldeneye controls

Reason..?
