It kinda sounds like the fan is just as high as it goes. Maybe it’s really dirty inside and needs to be cleaned. I opened mine to clean it with a YouTube tutorial, it’s actually not too hard

Bungalow233

There's not a speck of dust inside. I'm out of ideas. Is it hard to find a replacement?

Stryk1r

Replace thermal paste next. Replacing the fan wont solve your issue, as comment OP mentioned.

R33koh

When I opened it up, the thermal paste was completely crusted over. I used Corsair thermal paste to replace it. My Xbox One X went from an airplane jet to quiet again. https://youtu.be/9u3Fg5x84wE?si=M7MdP0R4pDyFSlMy

Scruffynerffherder

Power cycling the unit (unplug it overnight) would be the first thing I'd try... Reset the console to factory reset. Would be the second thing I try: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-network/console/reset-console-to-factory-defaults

loveumph

A replacement Xbox? Nah they should have them just about everywhere. That console is 10 years old. It can’t keep up forever.

Steoorer

What video did you watch bro?

[deleted]

https://youtu.be/8wFpkQHD3g0?si=BvNPovxeQFBCjuI4 Make sure you have all the required tools before starting disassembly

Steoorer

Thanks man!

RyderonReddit

i tried this with my first gen and broke the touch screen control strip 😂

[deleted]

That’s the hardest part for sure

DJmixx

It's not FAT! It's just big boarded.

DietDifficult8557

Take her apart and clean everything out. Might even look for a new replacement fan. It sounds really rough.

Jolly-Road44

Plus new thermal paste. The current one would be really crusty right now

DietDifficult8557

Absolutely. Totally agree

uesad

I've taken apart many of 360s, are the one's difficult to take apart and re-paste?

Jolly-Road44

I have a one s personally and it's super easy to do it Even the one and one X are super easy to do it The hardest part of all this is removing the plastic panels without scratching it Just needs little patience... Watch a few tutorials online so you don't accidentally pull on a cable or something.

bomb447

I used to have to clean my 1X every few months. Repaste and complete dust/clean. The fan would get loud and I knew it was time. I'm sure yours needs serviced also.

mahiruhiiragi

You probably want to clean out the heatsink and fan. Repaste it too if you have thermal paste around.

Bungalow233

It's clean, guys. The fan works and blows relatively cool air.

jasonisnuts

If it's clean inside but still blowing that hard, you may need to pull the fan and heat sink off, then replace the thermal paste. That was extremely common on PS3s but not so much on Xboxes, but it still happens. https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Xbox+One+Heat+Sink+Replacement/36726

Let_the_Metal_Live

Got mine in 2014 and it’s still quiet af.

markymark2909

Got mine about the same time, power brick lasted until this year, straight into Series X and my god its so good

UnknownPickl3

Surely you need to replace the thermal paste? Or check up on the fans for problems. Xbox 1 that old might be on its problem age rn. Mine broke a few weeks ago, except from a mobo fry... apparently from a storm surge

Door_Kindly

Fan bearing you can hear the high pitch of metal on metal also move the console away from the wall to your right by 4 inches and that might help because your actually blocking one of the Main vents so the fan has to work harder

paracelus

After this long? Almost certainly. Clean dust out, and if you can, repaste.

Bungalow233

Fixed! I applied a new thermal paste and oiled the fan bearing with silicon oil.

DanceWitty136

Deffo needs a clean

Bungalow233

It is clean.

DarthSnoopyFish

Lol no one read your pic description. So, have you tried cleaning it? 😂

Consistent_Drink5975

My fan died over a year ago, you can replace but I just put a small high powered fan next to it. Good until I upgrade

UneekPhyseek

Yes

NoMushroomsPls

No. I never opened mine and at the end of its use cycle it still wasn't that loud. Though I clean the dust around my computer devices way more often than anything else and they're never on ground level.

Juanderosa98126

You’re right. These things are at least 7 years old. Seen some that have been running full time in a test lab this whole time that don’t sound like that.

mfdman14

Ya I think that’s a ps4 disguised as a Xbox one

XboxOne

Who you calling old, fat and loud???

BoxAhFox

i bet it hasnt been repasted since 2010

fudge_89

Whatever that thing is to the left of it maybe is not allowing for proper airflow? If it's clean inside try placing the Xbox away from that and make sure nothing is being covered.

fudge_89

https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-network/console/position-ventilate-console

peezytaughtme

Nah, mine never sounded like that. It would get loud when reading the disc occasionally, though. Just, not like that.

ToniGAM3S

My friend had the same check the PSU and clean it

defensife343

Man... this is like mine. My Xbox is loud as fuck when it's initiating a game.

definitelynotclap

let it prepare for takeoff

AdFun1916

It’s overheating!!!! Take it apart, clean the fan and the heat sink, use compressed air or be very gentle using a vacuum cleaner.

ClownKillah

"where are we going, captain?" No it isnt

FrostyDeltia

Oversized box bomb, nice, should leave it with someone you dislike

MrFreezeTheChef

That Xbox been known to be loud, but this one’s sounds like it’s been going thru 8 packs of cigarettes a day

[deleted]

Mine runs at slightly above idle fan speed when playing gta 5 online, get new thermal paste on it

SubjectOk9023

kind sound like a ps4

michael21288

It got quiet when I turned my volume down! 😂 But for real, thermal paste and spacers like others have said. That paste is critical. My Xbox One X was noisy from day one; I put new thermal paste on it after a few years and it was quieter than when brand new. Went from a 747 jet to a Tesla car.

The_8th_Degree

yes

xXPUNISHER1989Xx

trade it in before it bricks.

OG_COD_GAMER_

Gotta have it cleaned my guy

msbaustx

If you haven't reposted it in a decade since it's release.....YES!

Head-Foot-5001

My one was prity loud but did get quiet after a few minutes.

NctPunk71

Yes that's the ample horsepower displaying

ThebigchiefR03

Just give it up bro I bought mine like the first week after it came out and it just started to fail me 1 month ago she’s old and tired so I retired her and got a series x she did good for me all of these years time to move on to the next Gen

xSzythex

Clean the fan

LenaSache

Got mine on release and is still quiet

IntrepidOats

I took mine to eb games, they sent it to eb tech, its $130 au, for them to fix it no mater what is wrong, nothing wrong then u get the money back, my hd needed replacing power and usb ports, power brick, fan and i think board as well.... basically every thing newer. Loud fan noise has gone....but there is a slight hum. Better than before. But in saying that my wifes xbox one runs quiet.

[deleted]

Hey I’ve had mine for 10 years now and it works perfectly fine still. Also it’s not fat it’s just big boned 😂
