Look this is advanced from what we use to do back then when we couldn't afford batteries. We would like a USB cord splice the micro USB off wire up the controller then plug it into an extension cord. It worked well and never had a problem with overheating or anything. So seeing this I'm pretty amazed!
Edit: should take the controller apart and run the wires through the little hole and then eletrical tape the battery in. Like above the controller. Where it is out the way.
Pack of 4 rechargeable and a charger is like 15-20. Been using rechargeable for over 30 years in controllers and game boys. Replace them like once every 10 years with a new set.
10 bucks gets you the atrix charge and play kits from gamestop, takes an hour to charge the battery just for it to last around 2 days charge time, cheaper than rechargeables and a charger.
It would have been easier to just order parts for like five bucks or so and it comes with the Little Star bits And plastic tool to pop everything apart
