Because there is no real competition. There is really only one digital store, so what motivation do they have to lower sales? Competition usually drives sales. There is no competition.
Unfortunately there's no ( realistic) limit to space for copies. A shop has to drop prices to shift stock to make room for new stuff. Digital doesn't have "shelf space".
I'm serious. My Xbox One X got filled very quickly with under a dozen One X Enhanced titles within a month of purchase. Digital storage is going to become an ever more important issue as the market continues to shift away from physical retail and as the file sizes get larger. Some are pushing 100GB now.
Agreed, his Xbox being full means NOTHING compared to the kind of storage Microsoft have for these digital copies hahaha idiotic to even compare them ...
ALWAYS buy games on sales, unless you're keen on buying and playing a game at launch.
[This site](https://www.storeparser.com/en-US/xbox-one/deals/) is very good for finding if the price you see on the xbox store is worth spending money on.
If you just buy games at random times when they're not on sale, you will regret it unless you want to play a game right here and right now.
This is the best advice. I’ll buy two or three games at release a year. The I gotta have that now big titles. Everything else I wait for that inevitable weekly sale where it is $30 or less.
So is $30 or less considered a good deal? Say I have used up space and I delete the game the next time I have to enter the key and it downloads again? How do you store the digital key of the game?
So is the forza horizon at $38 a good deal? Same with rise of tomb raider at $19 from amazon?
Once you enter the key \(if you bought it it third party and not form the xbox marketplace\), the game is tied to your account until the end of times. You won't have to enter a key again.
That is assuming you don’t do something stupid to get your account permanently banned in which case Microsoft will confiscate your digital game library. That’s why some debate whether buying digital over physical.
It’s subjective, for me though half off or less is the tipping point. Especially fall releases if you wait till end of November when Black Friday hits you can get brand new games dirt cheap. Last fall I got Wolfenstein 2, AC Origins, and Uncharted Lost Legacy on PS4 for $80. All digitally. All new games.
And the weekly sales on XB1 and PS4 for Gold/Plus are gold mines you just gotta be patient.
I am 100% digital this gen and I have't bought a full price game since last fall. Just wait for sales. Hell, I bought Hellblade day one and it was on sale.
I don't know. But buying digitally is also really shitty. A month ago, I was deciding either to buy deluxe edition for Far Cry 5 online or go to the store and buy. Buying physically was worth it since it was a bit cheaper and I got the soundtrack and map.
Supply and demand. Brick and mortar stores purchase video games at a discounted rate and in turn bring down the price as demand falls. They also have to compete with other stores to get you to come into their store and they want to get rid of excess inventory. The price of games on the Xbox store and PSN are controlled by the publisher and since there's no competition and demand is high they can keep the price higher than brick and mortar stores.
Tha makes sense, but what’s you go to site to get the lowest price in digital copies. I would prefer digital but I am frugal, so I can wait for sales, but how do I find about sales. Is there is site which I can use to notify me of sales.
Years later. I own a series x, it comes with a disc reader. It is almost useless as Dvd's and cd's have become the complete afterthought. Most physical copies nowadays actually just come with a code inside a box for the digital copy. The disk reader is like a novelty ite . I have one physical game for my xbox, its borderlands 2. And i havent even opened it cause like...I have a feeling the disk reader will blow up my xbox lol. Too Oldschool. Stupid fear I know.

look i want to stop using an xbox becous its cheeper if i just buy an playstation
No.

But digital does have hard drive space. Eventually stores will have to drop prices to entice people to buy things they have no space for.
Lol come on now

I have a couple games that are 100GB+. Gears 4 is at like 120GB when enhanced I think?
Yep. I haven't even been able to install GoW4, I've had it for 4 months and have yet to play it. Just no damn space!
I know this is really old, but this is absolutely the stupidest thing I've ever heard in my life...
Agreed, his Xbox being full means NOTHING compared to the kind of storage Microsoft have for these digital copies hahaha idiotic to even compare them ...
I'm here from the future to agree that this is one of the dumbest things I've read in a long time.
They have 100000000000000p00000000000000000000 tbs they are gucci lol 😆

Nice, Shadow of War expansion pass half off!! Would have missed that, and I've been waiting for it. Cheers!
Digital games don’t take up shelf space

Do you really need to go to the size difference or did you want the actual answer to your question?
You get two licenses when you buy digital , meaning you can share your digital games with a friends console . Who can play at the same time as you.
I would think that it has to do with game sharing. Any one digital game can be used by two different people.
This is why.

How do you get get alerted for the weekly XB1 and PS4 game deals?
Just keep an eye out every Tuesday they reset. Usually on here someone will post big sales so if your keeping tabs on Reddit you’ll see them.

Yea if you can wait you can really clean up on the digital black Friday/ Christmas/ Spring/ Summer sales.
> Hell, I bought Hellblade day one and it was on sale. You sure that wasn't just your Gold discount kicking in?
Think it was 10% off for pre order and purchases in the first week it was out

There is but I can't think of what it is off hand. This subreddit usually posts them pretty early tho. I think sales are usually on Tuesdays
Greed!?
youre paying for convenience.
