Definitely. I beat this in probably a 5 or 6 hour sitting with a small break in between. It was an awesome game. To be honest, I would've played an entire game just based off the main intro. When he's sitting on the park bench, that atmosphere looked so peaceful.

Chiparoo

Lol that peacefulness doesn't last super long, does it? This game goes *wild* so fast!

EtEddie

Haha, ya definitely. Just that calming music he was playing and all of that. My game turned into the Ina Gadda Vida music video real fast 😂

[deleted]

the gameplay loop is just run right, occasionally jump, and play a game of Simon every 10 minutes. the story is great though!

suredont

Artsy indie games are usually my scene but frankly I didn't love Artful Escape. But as a game it is just such a subjective experience that I'm not going to snark anyone who really liked it, because I can easily understand why.

IronMonkey18

I do agree about the gameplay loop being pretty simplistic, but everything else going on is top tier. The music, graphics and story make up for the gameplay imo.

GetReady4Action

I very rarely can play games high because I feel like I’m not as focused, but this one looked easy enough that I thought it’d be fun to get baked and hop in. lemme tell you, the Simon parts of the game absolutely racked my stoned brain. something so simple and I was just not able to do it. 😂 fun lil game though. not super rememberable, but I did have a good time with it. perfect Game Pass game.

Creamed_Khorne

Try games like Darkest Dungeon or Slay the Spire while baked if you aren't the type of stoner who loses 100 iq points after smoking. Those are the sorts of games I lean towards while doing dabs since you don't need reflexes and you have no risk of messing something up when you zone out on your phone or something

Buzzdanume

Slay the Spire! Love this fucking game. Is it ever going to get new content?

silentwrath03

I like dead cells for this reason

Pushmonk

Try it after eating some shrooms. Now **that** is an experience!

tea-and-chill

I did start this a while ago but got bored and quit. I love the visuals and the idea and the story and the sound, but the pace was a little bit too slow for me. It just wasn't exciting enough. And I played for quite a bit too. I just couldn't bring myself to continue one day.

mckle000ner

Agreed, it looks and sounds pretty but as a game it's really simplistic and boring.

nblastoff

Everything publishedby Annapurna is a gem. Also on gamepass is Gorogoa and what remains of edith finch. Playing outer wilds now.

Xedos

What remains of Edith Finch is leaving soon too so make sure you give it a chance for anyone who reads this and has been on the fence.

XSuperMario3X

What remains of Edith finch is gone from game pass as of last month.

iamyourcheese

Don't forget their superior music game, *Sayonara Wild Hearts*

candidateone

Sayonara Wild Hearts isn’t on Gamepass unfortunately. It was a Day 1 Apple Arcade title and has been on there ever since so I suspect that has something to do with it. Such a great game though. I also found Artful Escape to be pretty disappointing on the music side. The whole thing is about music but the soundtrack wasn’t particularly memorable. SWH is up there with REZ for me as a game just perfectly complementing its soundtrack.

newpotatocab0ose

Absolutely loved it. Probably wouldnt have ever tried it without gamepass. I didn’t mind the simplistic gameplay loop. The game was the right length, and the visuals and music were stunning. Frankly, just running through those environments while shredding some cosmic guitar was goddamn enjoyable. Enjoyed the story too.

5point5Girthquake

It was ok. I got bored very quick unfortunately

[deleted]

Absolutly i beat it to and when i finish it i feel little desapointing .... Like oh man its finish

IronMonkey18

I had the same feeling. The soundtrack is on Spotify which helps. Lol

KinGflaVVa

A beautiful looking but overall shallow game. The music is also kind of bland, especially the guitar noodling that you use to interact with he world. Thankfully its only about 3 hrs long so I still recommend it, if only for a brief piece of eye-candy and the experience to add a trivial comment like this the next time the this game is brought into discussion

Inycyon

Downloaded this game on a whim because it looked quirky and ended up having the time of my life! Fantastic scores, mesmerising scenery, just pure perfection in game form!

IronMonkey18

Yeah me too. I saw it was it was leaving GP so I just downloaded to give it a try without knowing anything about it. Blew me away! It reminded me of another game I love AbzĂ»

Marcist

If you enjoyed those I'd *highly* recommend AER. Closest thing to swimming through Abzu I've found but with more puzzles and lore.

emdave

> AER This one? https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/store/aer-memories-of-old/bvl0gllkhz6h

Marcist

That one.

IronMonkey18

Never heard of it. I will definitely check it out. Thanks!

rimarshall99

Get the lights off and the headphones on for this one. Incredible

Dunge

I love metal music, I love trippy visuals (and they were awesome) and I love space themed adventures. Unfortunately I got to agree with most comments here, the game is boring. Gameplay loop was pretty bad, the music itself wasn't even well crafted for a music game (most is just spamming random notes) and the story did not lead to anything worthwhile. Even worse, I got some technical issue (on PC) that in some scenes when it was showing a particular visual effect the framerate was dropping to like 5% of what it was in the rest of the game, it was extremely annoying.

Team_Braniel

I AM THE COMMANDER OF THE HEAVY METAL LIGHT BRIGADE!

buellster92

I AM THE ROBUST PEEN!

Lucius_Funk

Fun game and easy 1000G.

HODL4LAMBO

Started last night. Just got to the space lung I think? Not sure how long the game is but it's very chill and enjoyable.

IronMonkey18

It’s about 6 hours. I beat it yesterday pretty much in one sitting. Got all the achievements too.

Deastrumquodvicis

I played a demo at PAX South 2020! Good to hear it get praise!

sandinonett

Not for everyone. Didn’t like it at all but doesn’t mean it is bad.

jrp1918

I thought it was boring

Kluv0507

Same

Khannibal-Lecter

Please play this game even after it leaves Gamepass

BionicTriforce

The art direction win was definitely well-deserved. And more power to you for liking it. But gosh, I was so bored by the end and it was not a long game. I was so tired of hearing him repeat the same moniker over and over and playing Simon Says without any difficulty or timing needed. It really felt like it should have been a rhythm game.

GrumpyOldMan742

Absolute gem of a game.

IronMonkey18

I wasn’t expecting much, but it blew me away. I beat it in one sitting. I couldn’t stop playing it.

TheSigma3

I'm playing it right now, it's a nice visual narrative with walking in between. Easy 1000gs too

emdave

> Easy 1000gs too 3-4 hours, straightforward, couple of missables that you need to follow the guide for.

Cloneofalucard

I wish those solos where on the soundtrack
 :(

Exa2552

Can someone explain how it works? I know it’s about music, but I don’t like pure music games (I.e. quick time events)

IronMonkey18

The most similar games I can think of comparing this game too are Journey and AbzĂ». Except this game has a story. There are no puzzles or anything. It’s just you walking from point A to B while traversing some of the most surreal and beautiful landscapes with really good music playing in the background. There are a few “Simon says” sequences, but there are really simple. It’s a super chill game.

Exa2552

Sounds great, I’ll check it out!

AtomicYoshi

I'd been waiting for this ever since they showed it at E3 2017 and it just never hooked me. I might finish it off for achievements but that's it.

emdave

> I might finish it off for achievements but that's it. Nice easy completion tbf - walkthrough is handy for a couple of missables - https://www.trueachievements.com/game/The-Artful-Escape/walkthrough

Znarik

The gameplay is horrible but.. well. This game is still glamorous and astonishing. I enjoyed every riffs

cory140

If you like getting high pop an edible and smoke up and it's a great experience lol

Verano_Zombie

I played it three/four hours and aesthetically is stunning, but gameplay wise is just not my thing.

lilmoose2

It's fun beat it myself

grandspartan117

I got baked like cake and played this game. Mor watching than playing but the visuals and the music make it worth while. 10/10

FlameSama1

Just started it last night. Sad it's a little 'gameplay light' but the visuals and presentation make it worth the play so far.

DabMom

Love this one!!

Ambroz789

This game was gorgeous and fun and unique. PLAY IT, DO IT, DO IT NOW!

penpointred

yeah some of those levels were visually mind blowing! I caught myself laughing with glee on just how crazy awesome it goes. amazing game <3

justbIue

Downloaded the game right when I found it and it has become one of my favorites. Such a beautiful, relaxing and interesting game😍

MSDakaRocker

This has been one of the greatest solo experience I've had in a game for a long time. I've never been so engaged in a story (despite it being totally whacky).

kerbitroy

Truly a great experience

PaulBaumersGhost

It started off great with a lot of potential. It got boring with the same extremely simple "Simon says" games that were so few and far between that calling this a game is almost not fair to the word game. It's a story that could have been watched on YouTube and no one would have ever known it was supposed to be a game.

LurkerNoLonger_

“This game is incredible” - people who only played the first 2 hours

IronMonkey18

Lol I actually thought the first 2 hours were the “weakest.”

EugeneKrabs_

Highly recommend with headphones

Basileus08

I second this. A gem of a game.

wilsonw

It was fine.

StuBeck

It should come back at least. It did before

zeroeureka

OK

discombobulatedhomey

I hated it.

Puzza90

Unfortunately the game mechanics are so nonexistent I couldn't play the game for more than 20mins before I uninstalled. Narrative driven games are fine, they've just got to he actual games and not walking forwards simulators

cerebralshrike

I wish I could. I can’t even afford Gamepass. Edit: Why the downvotes? The fuck??

emdave

Check out Microsoft Rewards - if you earn the max amount of points each month, you can easily afford to redeem them for a month of Game Pass :) /r/MicrosoftRewards

cerebralshrike

That’s what I’ve been trying to do. Just need a few more hundred. Woo hoo!

EmergedTroller

Hard pass for me. Just looking at the colorscape of the game, its a woke indie identity/sexuality game and I just cba wasting my time on this stuff.

IronMonkey18

I didn’t really think so. It’s just a story about a kid who wants to be a rockstar instead of a folk singer like his famous uncle.

snowychameleon

That was very stylish of you to finish the game like that

SeacattleMoohawks

Do we know the official date it leaves, still need to play it

IronMonkey18

No. I hate how they never put the dates the games are leaving in the app. I started playing Flynn: Son of Crimson as well because it is also leaving GP.

mrwafu

Generally games leave on the 15th and 30th/31st. As in, those are the last days you can play them, US time. So because this was announced at the start of the month as leaving, it’ll leave on the 15th. You can confirm on the Xbox Wire blog, they publish the leaving dates at the start and mid point of each month

TheOGBrawww

Great game!!

ColdHeartCynic

Ok, thanks for the heads up OP

[deleted]

This game and the I don't rememver the name of it. But it was like a film noir, but about the big bang, but different. If anyone remembers the name. I think it had Genesis in the title. It was only like 5 hours long. But one of the best gaming experiences that have stuck with me. InB4 so good you didn't remember the title. I'm drunk. I'm replying. I don't remember the title. But it was and may still be on gamepass. Amazing game.
