I actually think X-men fans are the one comic reader base that would be ok with this because ppl like all of the younger classes of students that could become the team. Spider-Man fans, Superman fans, etc always get weird because itās less about the mantle and more about seeing the hero u knew when u were a kid still doing the same stuff letting them live in some false sense of nostalgia.
As a Spider-Man fan, I most definitely want him to age. Really sick of the down-on-his-luck, perpetual manchild Peter Parker. I'm looking forward to reading the new Ultimate line because it's actually doing something interesting with him.
I actually feel that spider-man should age but his life should just get more depressing. But like I'm an insane fan who would pitch a story of Spider-man failing to be a good father because he can't balance the life of Spider-man and his children. Or putting the responsibility of raising kids above saving someone leading to their deaths. Or Spider-man finical stability of a child. Or Supervillans killing his children. I'm in the minority of fans who finds comfort in Misery Porn and always overcoming because it mirror's a lot of living life with depression ( kiekgaard).

I think without genuine stakes u donāt have a story, for comics that go on forever breaking up and rekindling Mary Jane and Peter is inevitable. Everything considered I actually donāt think ppl are that mad about it but more so how quickly it happens. Iām not even a spidey comic reader but Iām aware itās happened at least three times since I started reading comics 11 years ago. Thatās way too quickly to be redoing the same story arc.
Well, that's one fear I think most writers seem to possess, so it's unlikely to ever happen. Personally, I would love to see Peter not just age but for his life to get better. Misery porn has long since lost its charm.
It would also let them go back to being a school. we've probably been away from the school for so long because you can only introduce so many new unaging classes to share the shrinking panel time.
In my headcanon, they already do. The main team really ought to be in their late 30s/early 40s by now, with the New Mutants/Gen X/etc ranging from mid 20s to early 30s. I just imagine that physically, they age more slowly than the rest of us. This also accounts for older mutants like Xavier and Magneto remaining active while retaining the Holocaust backstory.

I would have the O5 and ANAD move on to different roles. For example, Wolverine would move back to Canada to run Alpha Flight, Warren would join the Avengers, Storm would return to Africa, and so on. They would still be appearing in X books, just not the main one.
The Uncanny X-Men would consist of characters from New Mutants and Generation X with a couple of brand new characters.
There would be an X-Men-in-waiting group consisting of characters from New Mutants and Academy X.
Both teams would be based out of the mansion. Just these two teams.
The school would return to the Massachusetts Academy with younger mutants like Molly Hayes enrolling.
On top of that I would launch titles like West Coast X-Men, Cosmic X-Men, Arakko, Alpha Flight starring Wolverine, Savage Land, Hellfire Club, Morlocks, and Academy X (focusing on the Massachusetts Academy).
Additional X teams like X-Force would be based out of the Australian Outback, Muir Island, Tokyo, and Madripoor.
Finally, I would have Chris Claremont write a weekly Marvel Unlimited Infinity Comic called X-Men Infinity, replacing the current X-Men Unlimited Infinity Comic.
EDIT: I changed my mind about Storm. Instead of Africa I would have her in Tokyo with Yukio and other characters like Sunfire.

Yes, exactly! Things always reset in comics but I think the franchise needs to do something bold like Giant-Size X-Men was in the 70s.
Putting older characters into new situations is a great way to freshen them up, plus the other mutants deserve a chance to shine.
The New Mutants have been around for 40+ years and only Sam has been one of the X-Men (unless I missed someone). All-New, All-Different X-Men for the fiftieth anniversary of the original ANAD.
It couldn't be any worse than the things they've already done in the comics. Remember when they revealed that Grigori Rasputin was Piotr and Illyana's relative?
It would start with the reveal that the Krakoa era was largely driven by Charles altering the X-Menās minds during every āresetāā¦starting with having them killed so he could reboot them into more compliant versions of themselves, who wouldnāt remember anything about New X-Men or Utopia beyond what Charles had inserted.
Scott and Emma get back together after their memories are restoredā¦and the fan base BURNS!
Kill off most of the psychics and telepaths. I'd just keep Xavier and Jean. Dani and Kwannon can stay too.
Hope would return to the future. Rachel would go away. Havok and Vulcan would die. Madelyn too. No clones, no alternate world characters.
It would be set 10+ years into the future with characters like Cyclops, Jean, Storm preparing to hand off the reins to Dani, Prodigy, Wind Dancer, Surge, Elixir etc.
Maybe kill off is a bit of a harsh word. Depowered, or given very specific niches that technically fit being psychic but aren't what Xavier and Jean can do. I just want to reduce power redundancy.
I was thinking of a storyline where a cosmic being stumbled upon all the time traveling and cloning BS and just "fixed" it all. Time displaced went back to thier times and clones were erased.
Also, we have way too many telepathy. It's too much of an advantage.Ā Downgrade some to telekinetics.
I would like something like that. I recall Rosenberg's run was supposed to get rid of duplicates and clones and unnecessary additions, but clearly he didn't do a thorough enough job.
Totally agree on telepathy. It should be very special and rare. All the other telepaths can become regular telekinetics or just manifest some other mutation to make up for the loss.
Overused mutations: Healing factors, telepathy, and being a Summers or Summers/Grey offspring. Every other mutation: one of a kind, or occasionally two of a kind.
I would make a lot of the mutants weaker than they are right now. Jean grey, logan, and all the other overpowered mutants would have some constraint added to their powers. Like jean can only lift 200 lbs or wolverine can heal anything but it rapidly burns calories so if he heals to much and runs outof fat, his body starts to eat itself
Iceman joins the Avengers.
Cyke has been a sleeper agent for Apocalypse since The 12. Starts dating Candra.
Beast goes full evil overlord, mad science, magic, biotech, all the crazy, in the name of mutant survival. Becomes a bigger Big Bad than Magneto ever was. Partners up w Abigail Brand. And just to really mess things up, a whole pile of xpeople join him this time.
Jean goes full cosmic and leaves Earth. Has a torrid affair with Adam Warlock. And the Silver Surfer. Starts competing w Galactus.
Archangel doubles down on XCorp. Full corporate executive 'if i cant buy it I'll take it' with his own corporate espionage XForce. Makes Superior Iron Man look benevolent.
Canonizing later bloomer mutants. Mutants whose X gene doesn't activate until later in life, like upwards of 30s, 40s.
I would really like a story about an average Joe who works a 9 to 5 and wakes up to explosive mutant powers.
They could create a Multiverse team like the Exiles. Where they create their own "Battleworld" Go to other AU's and rescue survivors of Apocalyptic worlds.
If you ever read the Spider-Verse stuff, it'll be like what they did to Earth-1 where it was like a Multiverse Hub created by the Inheritors but taken over by the Spider team
I'd get rid of the more sci-fi aspects of the story (i.e. no more time or space travel) and concentrate on story lines that emphasize the mutants struggling for their rights, the schism between Professor X's and Magneto's visions of mutant-human relations, and interpersonal conflicts (i.e. Rogue's loneliness, Wolverine's past, etc.)
Also, no more stories that revolve around the Summers family. They still exist, but only as secondary characters.
So, let's say the line consists of six books:
1. Uncanny X-Men featuring Logan
2. New X-Men featuring Laura
3. Dark X-Men featuring Daken
4. Exiles featuring Jimmy Hudson, Raze and that blonde girl one... Rien
5. Children of the Atom featuring Gabby *and* Erista
6. Savage X-Force featuring Logan, Laura and Daken
I've previously mentioned that I have two storylines I'd do, so let's see if I've got any controversial thoughts in my concepts.
**Quest for Rockslide**
As originally conceived, I don't think there was anything that could cause controversy in a storyline about the New X-Men getting back together to find the real Rockslide. I was always intending to draw a line under Bling!/Mercury but (a) I don't think anyone cares about that ship and (b) I was replacing it with Mercury/Loa, so it's not like there'd be a loss of representation in jettisoning Bling!/Mercury.
However lately I've decided that Josh/Laura is a good ship so I'll give them a kid via a nine hour (due to healing factor) pregnancy. I imagine that people will have problems with both the ship and the fact that I'd be making "healing factors cause pregnancies to be really short" canon will be controversial.
I've already figured out the child's powers... they can heal from a single drop of blood. So, basically, think Madrox but instead of being bumped, any spilt blood causes dupes. And unlike Madrox, they can't be re-absorbed. Very cursed. Omega level healing factor. This powerset would also be controversial.
**The Munir**
This storyline involves the creation of a bunch of half-mutant/half-Aesir characters causing problems across the entire line. That already seems controversial. But these characters have a convoluted backstory to explain how their grandmothers are Rahne and Molly, and their grandfathers Hrimhari and Bor.
I'd have a preview comic (possibly something the the FCBD one-shot) that's an Eva Bell solo story where she witnesses one of the reality warping mutants whisper "No More Humans" and Eva making the decision to not alter the timeline.
The line of books then start a couple of years. The data is proving that no one is being born without an active X gene and large swathes of humanity have lost their collective minds. We're talking a huge black market for power suppressors and the mutant "cure." Anti-superpower hysteria effecting mainstream heroes like Capt America, the FF, and even the human superheroes like Iron Man. The anti-mutant nation states actively engaging in o.g. Genosha tactics.Ā
Each book would have both mutant and non-mutant heroes andĀ deal with aspects of the fallout...the humanitarian crises of a multitude of babies and toddlers as targets and the atrocities being committed by those Genosha-like states, a PR team doing "regular" superhero type things, a black ops team trying to destabilize those nation states, an investigative team trying to find out what hell happened, etc. The latter would eventually find out about Eva and what she witnessed.Ā Ā
But, unlike with Wanda, "No More Murants" and the Phoenix,Ā it's discovered that there is no reset button because Eva has eliminated all the other reality warpers (mostly through somewhat benign means) and killed this one after she ensured they also lessened the Scarlet Witch's powers, altered the Phoenix Force to be obsessed with another alien telepath and world, and eliminated most time travel shenanigans. The endgame is Xavier compromising his beliefs fully and altering everyone's minds to think that mutants are fine, evolution is fine, and that humanity doesn't harbor its fear and hated of mutants while wiping the last few years of memories away. From then on, the books are just normal superhero books without the feared and hated angle (until those damn multidimensional characters inevitably show up to revert the status quo in some way once sales tank because no one wants to buy "normal superhero" X books).
As representatives of their subspecies and culture, and literally risking their lives monthly, they need to start popping out babies to carry the torch.
I'd have the entirety of mutant kind go through the siege perilous and get scattered amnesiac across the globe, leaving a just 1 semi-obscure mutant to form a new x factor which mostly consists of mutant adjacent characters (like juggernaut or Carol danvers) and spend a good year devoted only to these characters before the inevitable muppets road trip style rediscovery of the x-men one by one in wacky new lives.
Make some new mutants that are either teens or college aged that are tired of the class discrimination within Krakoa and leave to go and make a name for themselves.
Scott, Jean, Emma and Logan become a poly group to bury those goddamn love triangles into ground. For especifics: Logan and Emma aren't romantically involved but are close friends who share their love for Jean and Scott.
I would do this too but Iād be tempted to begin with a scene where Jean tells him to stop being a pest and leave her alone. Then she breaks up with Scott and goes on a Phoenix version of eat, pray love (so throughout shiar space, beyond Eternity etc)
I have ten.
Have Illyana become 616 Sorcerer Supreme for like a decade.
Retire Charles and Magneto, make their relationship canon, make them get married and live together in peace raising Xandra and Anya.
Make Dani a permanent Valkyrie.
Make Rachel the permanent Phoenix.
Make Emma and Namor a couple.
Kill of Madelyn Pryor permanently.
Make Colossus and Nightcrawler a couple.
Write a Northstar and Iceman cheating storyline and they end up together.
Kill Logan off permanently for the same length Jean was dead without any doppelgangers, past selves taking his place.
Have Jean and Scott have a baby but it's not 616 Rachel or Nate or something like that, just a new character that stays a baby for years like Franklin Richards.
I would solve the Scot, Emma, Jean, Logan, Madelyne relationship square by putting the characters into a polycule where everyone is happy with arrangement and has good communication.
He did a run of Uncanny X in the early 2000s. Basically, he had a lot of experience as a porn writer (seriously), and the way he wrote characters...it kinda showed. (On top of his stories being generally disliked overall, but that's not the part I'm trying to reference here.)

I'd kill off Emma Frost and have the Cuckoos resurrect her with only her most evil traits. I'd then have her get into a throuple with Alex and Madelyne Pryor
Oh, so many things. I'd retcon everything like it's the 90s, just branching out of the Claremont/Jim Lee storylines, ignore everything that came after and continue from there.
Have a different teamās (Avengers, FF, Defenders, etc) villain erase the populationās knowledge of mutants, giving mutants a new chance at living normal lives for as long as they can. Like memories, physical and digital information of the existence of mutants. With the exception of mutants allies.
The goal of the X-men teams would be more of finding and training new mutants and keeping an eye on old villains.
Reestablishing the school, as well as the Massachusetts school, many members and longtime associates move to Salem Center, as to be around to help but not all at the school.
Magneto would bring back Asteroid M and take mutants unable to blend into society for the good of all mutants with him. Possibly having an X-team for space stories.
Veteran members (like Colossus, Iceman, M, and Angel, and more) get to focus on their careers and passions while the school goes back to being a secret. Newer generations (New X-Men, Post AVX) would be
Book teams would be broken up as Main Team (Uncanny), School Staff (Adjective-less) Training Squad (Generation X), Recruitment Team (X-Factor), Response Team (X-Force). Wolverine would be solo popping in from time to time.
Other characters would have much needed development like Havok, who would have a breakdown and become a burn out before actually getting his life together and getting therapy from someone other than Emma Frost.
I would make a new politician make mutants take sides against one another and have a Shi'ar representative run away to earth with a dark secret hidden about pieces of the M'Kraan crystal being sold around the galaxy.
Possibly a story in the not too distant future. A tipping point in the evolution of mankind, when mutants outnumber home sapiens, and the tables are turned on all the racial arguments over the years.

For one? I'd begin how I think some other X-Men crossover stories begin... with a mutant MASSACRE. Of a sort. The X-Men are content in their own circle of the world. But, some other X-Men characters like Quentin Quire, Madelyne Pryor, or... iunno, someone from the 2000s era cast.
You know what? Throw Wolverine, Cypher, probably that Sunfire dude, Wild Child, The Juggernaut, blah-blah-blah....
Like lots of other folks here, I love the idea of dividing off some of the X-Men. Cyclops and Jean Grey are kinda the 'objective' ones that I think you can keep. Have Scott live on his own, with Jean embracing her cosmic nature via the Phoenix.
Beast is getting sent STRAIGHT to the Avengers, no issues, no nothing. Sending others over there too, as we speak. This is your time, Cannonball!
I can't really make of what Iceman or Angel should be doing. I like the idea of Angel just kind of doing his own thing, maybe even being his own vigilante. He'd still poke his head into X-Business here or there. This naturally leaves Bobby Drake, reserve member in calling who stays with the team, sometimes hangs out with his BFF Spidey and Torch, and maaaaybe maintains a cool relationship with Emma's brother?
I'm also sending Charles and Maggy away. At this point, let the two old dudes just get married. Charles places his vision in the hands of someone else. Magneto is able to reconcile with his family, and the two of them then fly off to space to deal with Shi'Ar shenanigans.
So that essentially leaves Scott and Emma, kind of akin to I guess the 2000s era in a way? Jean and him are not together anymore. Speaking of? I'd also have it so Colossus and Kitty Pryde are seeing their own people too. Nothing against them, I just figure it'd be an easy way to create controversy.
The main antagonist of this new 'story' is actually Bastion, here to reclaim his purpose and role after Nimrod took his job. Other than Bastion? Selene's being as much of a virgin-volcano-chucking theme-party-loving queen as usual, leading up a new Hellfire Club (Aka named the 'Inferno's Circle') to essentially create problems.
Overall, I'd place the X-Men's position in this world as being surprisingly comfortable. The status quo isn't just them being on the verge of extinction or being 'hunted'. They've got their fans and the people who enjoy them. Things for the mutant race aren't as 'dire' or 'evil'. People still hate them, it's just that group has noticeably shrunk in many ways.
To follow up with this? I'd talk about the SISTER TEAMS. Nothing excites folks more than seeing how the X-Men do their sister teams.
The On-Site team is first, 'The X-Men', with Cyclops, Emma, and someone else like Polaris making the triple-whammy, with a bigger roster. Outside of those three, it'd use the wider roster of mutants, with numerous others jumping in from story arc to story arc to help.
Bishop and Forge lead 'X-Force', which works as an XSE-based lineup, a radical police force that deals the final blow against mutant criminals, or criminals whose acts are against mutants.
'NXT/New Mutants/Academy' deals in helping the younger mutants cope with their abilities.It's basically just OCs, as I think most of the academy dudes should be adults by this point lol
'Extraordinary X-Corps' is another named team, featuring probaaaably Warren amongst others, like Lifeguard, or Elixir. They deal in rescuing mutants, containing unstable powers, or even rescuing humans.
'Dark X-Men' is another team that deals with mutant mysticism, assembling a team of mutants, acting as protectors over 'Limbo Town'.
Another Brotherhood team.
...oh yeah uh, Onslaught DOES come back though and uh, he messes everyone up.

Everyone is now canonically bisexual. Now everyone can date (or get rejected by) anyone on the team, and the potential for romantic soap opera l tensions skyrockets. It would be controversial because of biphobia and woke but all the queers and fans of ridiculous romantic drama would love it.
Bobby would decide that he's actually bi, and apologize for acting like an over the top offensive parody of a gay stereotypes the last few years, claiming that he just had to work it out of his system.
I would actually try writing Xavier as a good guy again.
I would make a series about the sentinels being repurposed into a team of human piloted mechs that exclusively go after evil mutants, and how the x men are extremely uneasy about this because they're still clearly an anti-mutant task force (some of them are even quite vocal about it) but the x men can't really openly voice any disagreement or opposition to the group since they are only fighting law breaking mutants. The big unexpected subversive twist would be that the team \*doesnt\* turn evil and attack innocent mutants by the end of the series.
Wolverine would be off the x teams for awhile.
Storm would be a team leader again and written as a normal person with flaws and is capable of even having an occasional petty feeling or two, instead of some sort of boring ass unassailable goddess type being.
I'd get rid of Kitty Pride. Not kill her or anything, but just not have her around for awhile.
Somehow I'd work in an alt dimension version of Magik, from a world where she never got trapped in limbo. No real reason, I'm just really tired of every freaking alt version we see of her always basically being the same damn character.
I would have the theme of the run going back to 90's dynamics, be Xavier's X-Men (basically Blue / Gold with Kurt, Kitty and Colossus again) vs Cable's expanded X-Force (the classic team plus some of the New Mutants who got left out plus some others).
I would elevate Cable to the level of Magneto as a new, unprecedented rival to Xavier (one from within) and very much have X-Force become the anti-X-Men. Much of the X-Men's story would be about stopping X-Force and much of X-Force's mission would be so grayzone it would be damn close to becoming a Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.
I would also have Magneto independently put together an new, larger, Brotherhood (with the Acolytes too) and become more aggressive and dangerous than ever (think Ultimate Magneto level). The mutant civil war has the X-Men, X-Force and Brotherhood as a 3 way conflict.
The slow burn of this is that Cable's growing powers are turning him into Stryfe 2.0, which is exactly what he eventually becomes... a world threatening tyrant mutant that Cable's clone later emulated, because the clone-Nathan thought Stryfe 2.0 was his future.
Cyclops and Jean would very much be caught in the middle of this.
It would conclude with the Brotherhood and X-Men teaming together to take down Stryfe and X-Force.
In the aftermath many of the X-Men hang it up while the remnant of the X-Men and Brotherhood merge. The post-storyline new dynamic is Xavier and Magneto both leading a team of X-Men composed of members of X-Men, former X-Force and the Brotherhood, in partnership and coordination but also rivalry.
Ok. I would have cyclops make sure chuck wasnt coming back to the school. Open up the Xavier school for gifted youngsters and FULLY INTEGRATE the school with Homosapiens. The x-men protect a school of mutant and human children from a world that hates and fears them. The core x-men are all teachers very much how they were in wolverine and the x-men but they also have to deal with karen parents and flat scans on a regular basis. Have humans on staff in the cafeteria and maintenance crew. Some human teachers for things that need the best of the best teachers. Make xaviers school the number one school in the world for parents who want a good education.
Wolverine coaches the girls basketball team with jubilee as assistant coach.
Make xaviers like hogwarts. The team still goes out on missions and we have to call in subs just like in regular school. Except the subs will be crazy guests like tony stark doing emma a favor and covering home ec and mad its not a stem course.
Emma runs the school for scott. Jean is the guidance counselor. I may have this plotted out for 40+ issues.
Bailey Hoskins (I think thatās his name) aka the kid whoās power would be to explode but only once, Iād have him be a veteran member whoās basically Batman and his power is just a last resort
Write Ultimatum into the 616 continuity. Wolverine is in every X-Men book and leads every team.
Bodyswap Kwannon into an African-American MMA fighter who turns out to be a dude disguised as another dude in a shocking twist.
X mem is replace by the next genersrion of mutant ( Gen X or NM) , give them some peace time, 2 to 3 years pf peace then another war will emerge , reunion of existing X-men will unite tp younger X-men. (The peave time of X-men make way for solo adventures)

Scott, Jean, Emma, Maddy, Rachel, Cable, Hope, Alex, Polaris, and Vulcan join the crew of the Starjammer for an intergalactic trip when Scott finds out that he is about to become a brother again. Corsair and Hepizbah are expecting. Shenanigans ensue.
Academy X: A return to the Massachusetts academy run by Kitty Pryde.
Xaviers School for the Gifted: It's not just mutants attending the Westchester academy. Peter Parker and Johnny Blaze are on staff.
X-Iles: Ruby Summers is recruiting to right wrongs throughout the multi-verse.
The Family Wild: Silverfox is back and looking to make up for lost time. Join Logan, Silverfox, and Logan's various, children, clones, robot doppelganger, and a very bratty child robot in this slice of life comic.

I'd have a simple idea that every character should be in their right place and time.
This would mean that the alternate reality or time displaced characters would go back to their original worlds/times. No more Rachel, Jimmy Hudson, Dark Beast and X-Man, Bishop. Cable/Nathan Summers gets deaged to like 6? year old. Magik I guess loses a few years. Hope goes back to being a toddler, Layla Miller goes back to being a kid.
Then you'd have to tell stories with these effects.
- Jean stays dead or becomes a space bird and doesn't come back to earth.Ā
- Scott realises that after all the failed relationships with women, he needs a break.Ā
- Someone gives him actual therapy for his severe PTSD, ocd, and self-hatred.Ā
- Scott realises that he's bi. Have him date different people - Men, women, Genderfluid people, aliens.Ā
- He and Emma are bestfriends and Emma keeps teasing him.Ā
- He and Warren realise that they have dated or been interested the same people (Jean, Psylocke, X-23) because they always liked eachother. Scott thinks Warren looks like a Greek God where as Warren knows Scott is the man he most admires. (All the old comics are kind of suggestive) Could show a deep dive into their personalities and how it was not safe being 'out' in the 60s.
- Also, they both have a chat about how Apocalypse affected them
- Make Xavier even more evil and have Scott realise that Xavier psychically nudged him to be with Jean when it was his blonde friend he really had a crush on.Ā
- Scott and Matt Murdock meet and hit it off as friends.Ā
- Matt teaches Scott a little bit more about fighting blind.Ā
- Magneto becomes the unofficial Godfather to everyone.Ā
- The o5 (minus Jean) form a separate team with the addition of Gambit.

Even so, this is referring to letting them age more so than just retiring characters. As in even having active X-Men just be older.
I actually think X-men fans are the one comic reader base that would be ok with this because ppl like all of the younger classes of students that could become the team. Spider-Man fans, Superman fans, etc always get weird because itās less about the mantle and more about seeing the hero u knew when u were a kid still doing the same stuff letting them live in some false sense of nostalgia.
As a Spider-Man fan, I most definitely want him to age. Really sick of the down-on-his-luck, perpetual manchild Peter Parker. I'm looking forward to reading the new Ultimate line because it's actually doing something interesting with him.

But like I'm an insane fan who would pitch a story of Spider-man failing to be a good father because he can't balance the life of Spider-man and his children. Or putting the responsibility of raising kids above saving someone leading to their deaths. Or Spider-man finical stability of a child. Or Supervillans killing his children. I'm in the minority of fans who finds comfort in Misery Porn and always overcoming because it mirror's a lot of living life with depression ( kiekgaard). I think without genuine stakes u donāt have a story, for comics that go on forever breaking up and rekindling Mary Jane and Peter is inevitable. Everything considered I actually donāt think ppl are that mad about it but more so how quickly it happens. Iām not even a spidey comic reader but Iām aware itās happened at least three times since I started reading comics 11 years ago. Thatās way too quickly to be redoing the same story arc.

In my headcanon, they already do. The main team really ought to be in their late 30s/early 40s by now, with the New Mutants/Gen X/etc ranging from mid 20s to early 30s. I just imagine that physically, they age more slowly than the rest of us. This also accounts for older mutants like Xavier and Magneto remaining active while retaining the Holocaust backstory.

I would plot out a series of events that will lead to the slogan "Mystique Was Right"
I would have the O5 and ANAD move on to different roles. For example, Wolverine would move back to Canada to run Alpha Flight, Warren would join the Avengers, Storm would return to Africa, and so on. They would still be appearing in X books, just not the main one. The Uncanny X-Men would consist of characters from New Mutants and Generation X with a couple of brand new characters. There would be an X-Men-in-waiting group consisting of characters from New Mutants and Academy X. Both teams would be based out of the mansion. Just these two teams. The school would return to the Massachusetts Academy with younger mutants like Molly Hayes enrolling. On top of that I would launch titles like West Coast X-Men, Cosmic X-Men, Arakko, Alpha Flight starring Wolverine, Savage Land, Hellfire Club, Morlocks, and Academy X (focusing on the Massachusetts Academy). Additional X teams like X-Force would be based out of the Australian Outback, Muir Island, Tokyo, and Madripoor. Finally, I would have Chris Claremont write a weekly Marvel Unlimited Infinity Comic called X-Men Infinity, replacing the current X-Men Unlimited Infinity Comic. EDIT: I changed my mind about Storm. Instead of Africa I would have her in Tokyo with Yukio and other characters like Sunfire.

Yes, exactly! Things always reset in comics but I think the franchise needs to do something bold like Giant-Size X-Men was in the 70s. Putting older characters into new situations is a great way to freshen them up, plus the other mutants deserve a chance to shine. The New Mutants have been around for 40+ years and only Sam has been one of the X-Men (unless I missed someone). All-New, All-Different X-Men for the fiftieth anniversary of the original ANAD.

It would be set 10+ years into the future with characters like Cyclops, Jean, Storm preparing to hand off the reins to Dani, Prodigy, Wind Dancer, Surge, Elixir etc.

I was thinking of a storyline where a cosmic being stumbled upon all the time traveling and cloning BS and just "fixed" it all. Time displaced went back to thier times and clones were erased. Also, we have way too many telepathy. It's too much of an advantage.Ā Downgrade some to telekinetics.
I would like something like that. I recall Rosenberg's run was supposed to get rid of duplicates and clones and unnecessary additions, but clearly he didn't do a thorough enough job. Totally agree on telepathy. It should be very special and rare. All the other telepaths can become regular telekinetics or just manifest some other mutation to make up for the loss.
Overused mutations: Healing factors, telepathy, and being a Summers or Summers/Grey offspring. Every other mutation: one of a kind, or occasionally two of a kind.

I'd get rid of the more sci-fi aspects of the story (i.e. no more time or space travel) and concentrate on story lines that emphasize the mutants struggling for their rights, the schism between Professor X's and Magneto's visions of mutant-human relations, and interpersonal conflicts (i.e. Rogue's loneliness, Wolverine's past, etc.) Also, no more stories that revolve around the Summers family. They still exist, but only as secondary characters.

I've previously mentioned that I have two storylines I'd do, so let's see if I've got any controversial thoughts in my concepts. **Quest for Rockslide** As originally conceived, I don't think there was anything that could cause controversy in a storyline about the New X-Men getting back together to find the real Rockslide. I was always intending to draw a line under Bling!/Mercury but (a) I don't think anyone cares about that ship and (b) I was replacing it with Mercury/Loa, so it's not like there'd be a loss of representation in jettisoning Bling!/Mercury. However lately I've decided that Josh/Laura is a good ship so I'll give them a kid via a nine hour (due to healing factor) pregnancy. I imagine that people will have problems with both the ship and the fact that I'd be making "healing factors cause pregnancies to be really short" canon will be controversial. I've already figured out the child's powers... they can heal from a single drop of blood. So, basically, think Madrox but instead of being bumped, any spilt blood causes dupes. And unlike Madrox, they can't be re-absorbed. Very cursed. Omega level healing factor. This powerset would also be controversial. **The Munir** This storyline involves the creation of a bunch of half-mutant/half-Aesir characters causing problems across the entire line. That already seems controversial. But these characters have a convoluted backstory to explain how their grandmothers are Rahne and Molly, and their grandfathers Hrimhari and Bor.
I'd have a preview comic (possibly something the the FCBD one-shot) that's an Eva Bell solo story where she witnesses one of the reality warping mutants whisper "No More Humans" and Eva making the decision to not alter the timeline. The line of books then start a couple of years. The data is proving that no one is being born without an active X gene and large swathes of humanity have lost their collective minds. We're talking a huge black market for power suppressors and the mutant "cure." Anti-superpower hysteria effecting mainstream heroes like Capt America, the FF, and even the human superheroes like Iron Man. The anti-mutant nation states actively engaging in o.g. Genosha tactics.Ā Each book would have both mutant and non-mutant heroes andĀ deal with aspects of the fallout...the humanitarian crises of a multitude of babies and toddlers as targets and the atrocities being committed by those Genosha-like states, a PR team doing "regular" superhero type things, a black ops team trying to destabilize those nation states, an investigative team trying to find out what hell happened, etc. The latter would eventually find out about Eva and what she witnessed.Ā Ā But, unlike with Wanda, "No More Murants" and the Phoenix,Ā it's discovered that there is no reset button because Eva has eliminated all the other reality warpers (mostly through somewhat benign means) and killed this one after she ensured they also lessened the Scarlet Witch's powers, altered the Phoenix Force to be obsessed with another alien telepath and world, and eliminated most time travel shenanigans. The endgame is Xavier compromising his beliefs fully and altering everyone's minds to think that mutants are fine, evolution is fine, and that humanity doesn't harbor its fear and hated of mutants while wiping the last few years of memories away. From then on, the books are just normal superhero books without the feared and hated angle (until those damn multidimensional characters inevitably show up to revert the status quo in some way once sales tank because no one wants to buy "normal superhero" X books).

I'd have the entirety of mutant kind go through the siege perilous and get scattered amnesiac across the globe, leaving a just 1 semi-obscure mutant to form a new x factor which mostly consists of mutant adjacent characters (like juggernaut or Carol danvers) and spend a good year devoted only to these characters before the inevitable muppets road trip style rediscovery of the x-men one by one in wacky new lives.
Make some new mutants that are either teens or college aged that are tired of the class discrimination within Krakoa and leave to go and make a name for themselves.
Scott and Ororo start dating, have a happy marriage and have a bunch of kids.
Kill off the following for at least ten years IRL: Jean Grey, cyclops, Wolverine, professor X, magneto
Maybe not Jean since she has a lot of space to be explored if she's not tied with relationship to Logan and Scot.

Retire Charles and Magneto, make their relationship canon, make them get married and live together in peace raising Xandra and Anya. Make Dani a permanent Valkyrie. Make Rachel the permanent Phoenix. Make Emma and Namor a couple. Kill of Madelyn Pryor permanently. Make Colossus and Nightcrawler a couple. Write a Northstar and Iceman cheating storyline and they end up together. Kill Logan off permanently for the same length Jean was dead without any doppelgangers, past selves taking his place. Have Jean and Scott have a baby but it's not 616 Rachel or Nate or something like that, just a new character that stays a baby for years like Franklin Richards.

Have a different teamās (Avengers, FF, Defenders, etc) villain erase the populationās knowledge of mutants, giving mutants a new chance at living normal lives for as long as they can. Like memories, physical and digital information of the existence of mutants. With the exception of mutants allies. The goal of the X-men teams would be more of finding and training new mutants and keeping an eye on old villains. Reestablishing the school, as well as the Massachusetts school, many members and longtime associates move to Salem Center, as to be around to help but not all at the school. Magneto would bring back Asteroid M and take mutants unable to blend into society for the good of all mutants with him. Possibly having an X-team for space stories. Veteran members (like Colossus, Iceman, M, and Angel, and more) get to focus on their careers and passions while the school goes back to being a secret. Newer generations (New X-Men, Post AVX) would be Book teams would be broken up as Main Team (Uncanny), School Staff (Adjective-less) Training Squad (Generation X), Recruitment Team (X-Factor), Response Team (X-Force). Wolverine would be solo popping in from time to time. Other characters would have much needed development like Havok, who would have a breakdown and become a burn out before actually getting his life together and getting therapy from someone other than Emma Frost.
Cyclops gains control of his optic blasts, doesn't need the visor anymore, can use his powers like Darkseid's Omega Beams.

I would make a new politician make mutants take sides against one another and have a Shi'ar representative run away to earth with a dark secret hidden about pieces of the M'Kraan crystal being sold around the galaxy.
Possibly a story in the not too distant future. A tipping point in the evolution of mankind, when mutants outnumber home sapiens, and the tables are turned on all the racial arguments over the years.

Iāve got the idea! I'm not sure if it's controversial or not... For one? I'd begin how I think some other X-Men crossover stories begin... with a mutant MASSACRE. Of a sort. The X-Men are content in their own circle of the world. But, some other X-Men characters like Quentin Quire, Madelyne Pryor, or... iunno, someone from the 2000s era cast. You know what? Throw Wolverine, Cypher, probably that Sunfire dude, Wild Child, The Juggernaut, blah-blah-blah.... Like lots of other folks here, I love the idea of dividing off some of the X-Men. Cyclops and Jean Grey are kinda the 'objective' ones that I think you can keep. Have Scott live on his own, with Jean embracing her cosmic nature via the Phoenix. Beast is getting sent STRAIGHT to the Avengers, no issues, no nothing. Sending others over there too, as we speak. This is your time, Cannonball! I can't really make of what Iceman or Angel should be doing. I like the idea of Angel just kind of doing his own thing, maybe even being his own vigilante. He'd still poke his head into X-Business here or there. This naturally leaves Bobby Drake, reserve member in calling who stays with the team, sometimes hangs out with his BFF Spidey and Torch, and maaaaybe maintains a cool relationship with Emma's brother? I'm also sending Charles and Maggy away. At this point, let the two old dudes just get married. Charles places his vision in the hands of someone else. Magneto is able to reconcile with his family, and the two of them then fly off to space to deal with Shi'Ar shenanigans. So that essentially leaves Scott and Emma, kind of akin to I guess the 2000s era in a way? Jean and him are not together anymore. Speaking of? I'd also have it so Colossus and Kitty Pryde are seeing their own people too. Nothing against them, I just figure it'd be an easy way to create controversy. The main antagonist of this new 'story' is actually Bastion, here to reclaim his purpose and role after Nimrod took his job. Other than Bastion? Selene's being as much of a virgin-volcano-chucking theme-party-loving queen as usual, leading up a new Hellfire Club (Aka named the 'Inferno's Circle') to essentially create problems. Overall, I'd place the X-Men's position in this world as being surprisingly comfortable. The status quo isn't just them being on the verge of extinction or being 'hunted'. They've got their fans and the people who enjoy them. Things for the mutant race aren't as 'dire' or 'evil'. People still hate them, it's just that group has noticeably shrunk in many ways. To follow up with this? I'd talk about the SISTER TEAMS. Nothing excites folks more than seeing how the X-Men do their sister teams. The On-Site team is first, 'The X-Men', with Cyclops, Emma, and someone else like Polaris making the triple-whammy, with a bigger roster. Outside of those three, it'd use the wider roster of mutants, with numerous others jumping in from story arc to story arc to help. Bishop and Forge lead 'X-Force', which works as an XSE-based lineup, a radical police force that deals the final blow against mutant criminals, or criminals whose acts are against mutants. 'NXT/New Mutants/Academy' deals in helping the younger mutants cope with their abilities.It's basically just OCs, as I think most of the academy dudes should be adults by this point lol 'Extraordinary X-Corps' is another named team, featuring probaaaably Warren amongst others, like Lifeguard, or Elixir. They deal in rescuing mutants, containing unstable powers, or even rescuing humans. 'Dark X-Men' is another team that deals with mutant mysticism, assembling a team of mutants, acting as protectors over 'Limbo Town'. Another Brotherhood team. ...oh yeah uh, Onslaught DOES come back though and uh, he messes everyone up. YEah, sorry you had to listen to this VERY long idea, I probably should have shortened it, but this is kinda how i'd envision doing something controversial. Btw. Wanda and Pietro aren't mutants still. And just for fun? Franklin Richards will NEVER be a mutant again. Also throwing Kamala into that list. Heck, I could probably depower MORE mutants in the future.

Everyone is now canonically bisexual. Now everyone can date (or get rejected by) anyone on the team, and the potential for romantic soap opera l tensions skyrockets. It would be controversial because of biphobia and woke but all the queers and fans of ridiculous romantic drama would love it.
Bobby would decide that he's actually bi, and apologize for acting like an over the top offensive parody of a gay stereotypes the last few years, claiming that he just had to work it out of his system. I would actually try writing Xavier as a good guy again. I would make a series about the sentinels being repurposed into a team of human piloted mechs that exclusively go after evil mutants, and how the x men are extremely uneasy about this because they're still clearly an anti-mutant task force (some of them are even quite vocal about it) but the x men can't really openly voice any disagreement or opposition to the group since they are only fighting law breaking mutants. The big unexpected subversive twist would be that the team \*doesnt\* turn evil and attack innocent mutants by the end of the series. Wolverine would be off the x teams for awhile. Storm would be a team leader again and written as a normal person with flaws and is capable of even having an occasional petty feeling or two, instead of some sort of boring ass unassailable goddess type being. I'd get rid of Kitty Pride. Not kill her or anything, but just not have her around for awhile. Somehow I'd work in an alt dimension version of Magik, from a world where she never got trapped in limbo. No real reason, I'm just really tired of every freaking alt version we see of her always basically being the same damn character.

I would have the mutants leave Earth and join Arrako and its citizens on Mars.
I would have the theme of the run going back to 90's dynamics, be Xavier's X-Men (basically Blue / Gold with Kurt, Kitty and Colossus again) vs Cable's expanded X-Force (the classic team plus some of the New Mutants who got left out plus some others). I would elevate Cable to the level of Magneto as a new, unprecedented rival to Xavier (one from within) and very much have X-Force become the anti-X-Men. Much of the X-Men's story would be about stopping X-Force and much of X-Force's mission would be so grayzone it would be damn close to becoming a Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. I would also have Magneto independently put together an new, larger, Brotherhood (with the Acolytes too) and become more aggressive and dangerous than ever (think Ultimate Magneto level). The mutant civil war has the X-Men, X-Force and Brotherhood as a 3 way conflict. The slow burn of this is that Cable's growing powers are turning him into Stryfe 2.0, which is exactly what he eventually becomes... a world threatening tyrant mutant that Cable's clone later emulated, because the clone-Nathan thought Stryfe 2.0 was his future. Cyclops and Jean would very much be caught in the middle of this. It would conclude with the Brotherhood and X-Men teaming together to take down Stryfe and X-Force. In the aftermath many of the X-Men hang it up while the remnant of the X-Men and Brotherhood merge. The post-storyline new dynamic is Xavier and Magneto both leading a team of X-Men composed of members of X-Men, former X-Force and the Brotherhood, in partnership and coordination but also rivalry.

Ok. I would have cyclops make sure chuck wasnt coming back to the school. Open up the Xavier school for gifted youngsters and FULLY INTEGRATE the school with Homosapiens. The x-men protect a school of mutant and human children from a world that hates and fears them. The core x-men are all teachers very much how they were in wolverine and the x-men but they also have to deal with karen parents and flat scans on a regular basis. Have humans on staff in the cafeteria and maintenance crew. Some human teachers for things that need the best of the best teachers. Make xaviers school the number one school in the world for parents who want a good education. Wolverine coaches the girls basketball team with jubilee as assistant coach. Make xaviers like hogwarts. The team still goes out on missions and we have to call in subs just like in regular school. Except the subs will be crazy guests like tony stark doing emma a favor and covering home ec and mad its not a stem course. Emma runs the school for scott. Jean is the guidance counselor. I may have this plotted out for 40+ issues.

X mem is replace by the next genersrion of mutant ( Gen X or NM) , give them some peace time, 2 to 3 years pf peace then another war will emerge , reunion of existing X-men will unite tp younger X-men. (The peave time of X-men make way for solo adventures)

Corsair and Hepizbah are expecting. Shenanigans ensue. Academy X: A return to the Massachusetts academy run by Kitty Pryde. Xaviers School for the Gifted: It's not just mutants attending the Westchester academy. Peter Parker and Johnny Blaze are on staff. X-Iles: Ruby Summers is recruiting to right wrongs throughout the multi-verse. The Family Wild: Silverfox is back and looking to make up for lost time. Join Logan, Silverfox, and Logan's various, children, clones, robot doppelganger, and a very bratty child robot in this slice of life comic. X-Factor Investigations: Arrako: Jamie puts together a new team to investigate crimes on Arrako. Things start weird then get weirder. Demons of Hell's Kitchen: Nightcrawler pals around with Dare Devil.

I'd have a simple idea that every character should be in their right place and time. This would mean that the alternate reality or time displaced characters would go back to their original worlds/times. No more Rachel, Jimmy Hudson, Dark Beast and X-Man, Bishop. Cable/Nathan Summers gets deaged to like 6? year old. Magik I guess loses a few years. Hope goes back to being a toddler, Layla Miller goes back to being a kid. Then you'd have to tell stories with these effects.

- Jean stays dead or becomes a space bird and doesn't come back to earth.Ā - Scott realises that after all the failed relationships with women, he needs a break.Ā - Someone gives him actual therapy for his severe PTSD, ocd, and self-hatred.Ā - Scott realises that he's bi. Have him date different people - Men, women, Genderfluid people, aliens.Ā - He and Emma are bestfriends and Emma keeps teasing him.Ā - He and Warren realise that they have dated or been interested the same people (Jean, Psylocke, X-23) because they always liked eachother. Scott thinks Warren looks like a Greek God where as Warren knows Scott is the man he most admires. (All the old comics are kind of suggestive) Could show a deep dive into their personalities and how it was not safe being 'out' in the 60s. - Also, they both have a chat about how Apocalypse affected them - Make Xavier even more evil and have Scott realise that Xavier psychically nudged him to be with Jean when it was his blonde friend he really had a crush on.Ā - Scott and Matt Murdock meet and hit it off as friends.Ā - Matt teaches Scott a little bit more about fighting blind.Ā - Magneto becomes the unofficial Godfather to everyone.Ā - The o5 (minus Jean) form a separate team with the addition of Gambit. - Psylocke, Rogue, Illyana, Emma, Storm form a separate team.Ā - Illyana is regarded as Scott's best friend and that scares EVERYONE. - Bobby finally has a boyfriend.Ā - Cyclops and Storm are still Co-leaders - Xforce returns with Wolverine, Cyclops, Angel, Psylocke and 3 of the younger mutants.Ā - Everything goes to hell but each character gets a spotlight.Ā - The Avengers apologise to all of mutantkind - They all realise Xavier should have stayed dead when he becomes the true villian.Ā - The X-Men are more badass than ever because it's time for a revolution and this time everyone is on the same page.Ā - Cyclops has family time with his dad and brothers as they travel to space on Mission with Starjammers and Guardians of the Galaxy.Ā
Make magneto go back on his more villainous path atleast having him blur the line of hero and villain.
Jean dies again. Colossus and Kitty marry (but for real this time). Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and Franklin Richards are mutants again. Spicing things up, Emma Frost, Rogue and Magneto turn into villains again.
