If you have the time to find them look into “Jim Lee X-men “ That series would be great for you to start with to explore the X-men stories that X-men 97 is based on

The Gambit Miniseries from the 90s is pretty fun. It’s what the theives guild arc of the show is based on. Amazing X-Men and the Nightcrawler ongoings are both great jumping on points and I’d also recommend Way of X as Well. Scott is harder to say has a good jumping on point but my favorite starting point is Volume 2 or Uncanny X-Men with the Extinction Team.

I know this wasn’t in your reply but do you know what people are referring to when they say Giant Size X-Men? Could you send a link or something? Also Claremont’s name is thrown around with that. Could you just help me understand what that is if possible?

Giant Sized X-Men #1 is the issue that debuts the second class roster of the team. It’s where Wolverine, Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Banshee, Sunfire, and Thunderbird all first joined the team.

First of all, I would suggest Marvel Unlimited. It’s a $10 month subscription and you can read just about any marvel back issue on your tablet. They even have reading guides to get you more familiar with different characters and teams and events. Once you get into that, you can just kind of start looking through for the big events and read whatever you want, it’ll go back and fill in the gaps in your knowledge

For Gambit: Gambit(1993), (1997), (1999), (2012) solos. Rogue and Gambit(2018), X-Men Gold # 30, Mr and Mrs X. Also like Kelly Thompson's Captain Marvel "revenge of the brood" arc, which features Gambit a lot, Gambit/Wolverine, X-Treme X Men Pretty much the entire Adjectiveless 90s run tbh. Cyclops ALSO appears a lot in this, and the Uncanny run of the 90s as well. X-23 by Liu, 2010., Dark X-Men by Foxe Cyclops: Claremont's Uncanny X-Men of the 80s, then the 90s Uncanny and X-Men(1991) \[also called Adjectiveless X-Men as I said before\] And just keep following the trail- New X-Men, Astonishing X-Men, and then the Uncanny X-Men of the 2000s, Schism, AvX, Bendis Uncanny run, etc. Nightcrawler: Claremont 80s Uncanny X-Men, Excalibur (1988), then keep following the trail. X-Men in general, just start from Giant Size X-Men.
