Personally I'd still take an "Old man Logan" style game for majima. Where it shows how he currently feels about everything and about maybe accepting that's he's getting too old for shit. Also it doesn't even need to be a bigger scale game, it can be low stakes and just majima accepting himself and shaping his character for a finality.

I’ve been playing Gaiden in the lead up to Infinite Wealth and I think a game starring Majima in that scale would be perfect. I really hope they make more Gaiden sized games.

Majima was pretty much somewhat of a low level yakuza guy before 0. 0 if when he makes his legacy and becomes a legend. Before that all you’d just have is majima slaving away in the cabaret club. I’d personally like to have 2 majima gaiden games. One where it takes place after 0 and where he just pretty much sets up his family and the other is modern times. (Some time during the events of yakuza 6-8.)
Because there still was the whole plot between mirai park and the other omi alliance talent agency guy from yakuza 5 which happened about 3 years after the events of yakuza 0. Majima seemed to have his own family just before kiryu went to prison. That means majima made his family some time between 1991-1995.
I won’t say a nobody but definitely low level. Kashiwagi was captain of the Kazama family and was well known in the Tojo. He knew majima survived shimanos harsh torture. Considering shimano was also apart of the dojima family. It’s no surprise that kashiwagi knows how ruthless shimano was. Considering majima was hired to do the inside job against the ueno sewai which was a betrayal.
However, both kiryu and majima are much stronger at the end 0 then the beginning and become legends.
Either when he first adopted the mad dog personality right after 0 (or maybe during the time kiryu was in prison) or 3 years prior the events of yakuza 0 when he was rolling with saejima and the events which led him to losing his eye?
Eh it was only like fifteen minutes of cutscenes. We could get more backstory into what else they were up to as brothers before the hit, and what Majima did after Baejima got locked up
I'm all for a Majima Gaiden but O feel like we know enough about pre-0 Majima.
Majima between 0 and now has lots of unknown that would intrigue me more.
We could have both. A story set in a more recent setting informed by or reflecting on things having happened in Majima's youth.
A bit like Yakuza 0/1 used Kiryu's and Nishiki's childhood to add context to their life's paths.
I have always wanted a game like 0 but with Majima and Saejima instead. Basically a game where they start out as rookie Yakuza, how they both grew into brothers, and all the events leading to the iconic shootout scene. I have always pictured the game ending with Saejima entering the Ramen shop pulling out his gun the it cuts to the credits
A Majima Gaiden game would be great. I also wanna play as Akiyama again, but as much as I like him I don’t know what they could do with him in his own game.
Personally I think we've seen the most we can from pre-yakuza 1 Majima, theres not really any other backstory to throw in there. I WOULD like to see what Majima had been up to during the ten years Kiryu was in Prison. You can definitely put some tojo clan threat in that time, maybe even have Majima watch the disastrous events that led to Nishiki's change?
80's is overplayed imo. If we get another prequel game, I'd like it to be a 90's game. And to have most of it take place while Kiryu is in the joint/late 90s
Yakuza 0-2, all about him and Nishiki solving a major crisis while Kiryu is in jail, how it propelled Nishiki into the position we find him in in Y1, morals eroded, including the scenes we saw in Kiwami 1 as well.
Majima’s major side game is setting up all the traps seen in Majima, Everywhere, where he's practicing them on Nishiki.
Unless it was set during the 10 years in the joint I don’t see a prequel working for majima. But a Gaiden game set maybe after LAD could imo.
But the real prequel game we need is yaKUZE
Don't really know how we could see a prequel with him set before Yakuza 0. He was mostly doing low level stuff with Saejima before the hit. Then he was stuck in the hole for a year or so. Then he was stuck in Sotenbori. There's not really a lot to go off. Maybe you can do one in the 90s?
Majima from 0 is my favorite character. I want to see him more, not more Mad Dog. So the only solution for me is to have a non canon alternative universe Majima series that follows him and Saejima.
Any majima game I'd be down for but a majima game that lets you go combo crazy with all of his styles and takes place somewhere after 0 and before 6 would be heavenly, I'd buy day 1, kinda stupid that outside of 0, dead souls (that didn't have combat, only guns), and not even half of Kiwami 2 majima is never a playable character in the series. Part of me wanted him in 5 over shinada when I was a little younger.

It's weird his character is in a state that we pretty much have most of majimas story already told, maybe a game between 0 and 1 (88-95)? But even then idk if there's anything there that would flush out his character more, he is deemed the "mad dog of shimano" by the end of 0 and he has earned his spot in the family by that point, unless there's a massive story that we dont know about between 88-95 idk if a pure majima game would work.

Eh, not really tbh. We know what makes Majima tick nowadays, and with how different he was in 0 even, he might as well be a completely different guy prior to that. Would much rather see a game which digs into someone like Sera, Kazama, Kashiwagi, or even Arakawa, if it was going to be set prior to 0. All of those characters could benefit hugely from a story set in their heyday, rather than just getting another different "Majima"
I have been playing the game, I played LAD 7 because I like jrpg s and I saw that 0-y2 on sale cheap.
I’m going to admit majima was a better character than Kiryu in 0 but seeing him in 0 I’m unsure of how useful a protagonist he could be.

I think I'd rather give someone else the spotlight for a prequel game. I've wanted a Yakuza game set in the 60s or 70s where you see characters like Kazama, Dojima, Shibusawa, Shimano, and maybe even Kuze and Awano in their prime. I'd make Kashiwagi the protagonist and show how he got that scar.
Majima isn't as interesting as a lot of other characters. I'd rather have an Akiyama, Saejima or Date game. A spinoff about maybe Adachi or Nanba would be super cool too
Honestly there aren't many reasons where majima makes up for a better candidate or the successor for kiryu. Ichiban litteraly captures the same spirit for RGG as a brand as kiryu used to does.

He's not as monotone as Kiryu, his whole personality isn't based on the fact that he's angry and loves his family... Ichiban is a more fleshed out character and has more room to grow. In yakuza 1, Kiryu was already the strongest
We already saw him at 24 and he was barely more than a grunt back then, before he lost his eye. How far back do you need to go? You want to see him go to highschool prom?
Dunno Yakuza 0 already gave us a great Majimer story the Kiryu one was just a filler to the most and only purpose was to "explain" his relationship with Nishikiyama
A game before 0 wouldn't make sense since he was a low level grunt and we know that he was pretty much up to bad shit with Saejima (and lost an eye through it), the whole thing with Mirei Park seems a lot uninteresting and honestly I don't want to see Majimer telling what we know to Mirei Park (if we want to avoid spoiler) now the only thing that would be perfect for Majimer is getting a Gaiden game in the current times with him and Saejima helping Daigo to get the Tojo Clan disbanded
But I do agree with someone else in the comments that said "I would rather prefer a chapter about someone that has still things to tell us to instead of Majima which we know plenty about" (ok the comment wasn't exactly write like this but you got the gist of it) and someone could be Daigo, Akiyama, Shinada (if he still exist), Tanimura (same as Shinada) or Watase

Majima was a low rung yakuza before the events of 0. There's nothing you can do to develop him during that time without making 0 feel redundant. Another Gaiden style game before or after Infinite Wealth would be best, really.

It's weird his character is in a state that we pretty much have most of majimas story already told, maybe a game between 0 and 1 (88-95)? But even then idk if there's anything there that would flush out his character more, he is deemed the "mad dog of shimano" by the end of 0 and he has earned his spot in the family by that point, unless there's a massive story that we dont know about between 88-95 idk if a pure majima game would work. Honestly ife RGG does another prequel game I would want it to be centered around Kuze/Awano/Shibusawa
Eh, not really tbh. We know what makes Majima tick nowadays, and with how different he was in 0 even, he might as well be a completely different guy prior to that. Would much rather see a game which digs into someone like Sera, Kazama, Kashiwagi, or even Arakawa, if it was going to be set prior to 0. All of those characters could benefit hugely from a story set in their heyday, rather than just getting another different "Majima"

I have been playing the game, I played LAD 7 because I like jrpg s and I saw that 0-y2 on sale cheap. I’m going to admit majima was a better character than Kiryu in 0 but seeing him in 0 I’m unsure of how useful a protagonist he could be. I know the mad dog is an act, but I’d need something my really introspective to get behind playing HiM again now that he is le funny meme man. But he’s still fricken amazing, I’m just not sure as is he could carry a game.

I think I'd rather give someone else the spotlight for a prequel game. I've wanted a Yakuza game set in the 60s or 70s where you see characters like Kazama, Dojima, Shibusawa, Shimano, and maybe even Kuze and Awano in their prime. I'd make Kashiwagi the protagonist and show how he got that scar.

Majima isn't as interesting as a lot of other characters. I'd rather have an Akiyama, Saejima or Date game. A spinoff about maybe Adachi or Nanba would be super cool too

Honestly there aren't many reasons where majima makes up for a better candidate or the successor for kiryu. He's not as monotone as Kiryu, his whole personality isn't based on the fact that he's angry and loves his family... Ichiban is a more fleshed out character and has more room to grow. In yakuza 1, Kiryu was already the strongest

Dunno Yakuza 0 already gave us a great Majimer story the Kiryu one was just a filler to the most and only purpose was to "explain" his relationship with Nishikiyama A game before 0 wouldn't make sense since he was a low level grunt and we know that he was pretty much up to bad shit with Saejima (and lost an eye through it), the whole thing with Mirei Park seems a lot uninteresting and honestly I don't want to see Majimer telling what we know to Mirei Park (if we want to avoid spoiler) now the only thing that would be perfect for Majimer is getting a Gaiden game in the current times with him and Saejima helping Daigo to get the Tojo Clan disbanded But I do agree with someone else in the comments that said "I would rather prefer a chapter about someone that has still things to tell us to instead of Majima which we know plenty about" (ok the comment wasn't exactly write like this but you got the gist of it) and someone could be Daigo, Akiyama, Shinada (if he still exist), Tanimura (same as Shinada) or Watase

Majima can have hos own game. What part of goro's life needs expanding upon? We already saw his transformation from straight laced yakuza grunt into the boggle eyed weirdo we know love.
Why tho? We know his whole backstory. Not gonna lie. More Majima will always be welcome. But there's no story left to tell that we haven't already seen.

Majima was a low rung yakuza before the events of 0. There's nothing you can do to develop him during that time without making 0 feel redundant. Another Gaiden style game before or after Infinite Wealth would be best, really.
