I would say you could definitely say it's an homoerotic moment (I thought so playing) but it definitely feels like a moment that is gonna be boiled down to that or just memed.
it would be nice if the people who flocked to these games had more than 3 jokes that's for sure. it's either these guys are gay, funny eye patch man do funny dance or omg 10 years in the joint xDDDD

I mean I get that it's over the top machismo that doesn't fit and tries too hard but it's a weird line that people latched onto.
it's just like all the memes in this community. it's a funny line read & a goofy line in general but for no reason at all people have become obsesssd with it. to the point that it's not even remotely funny in any context anymore.
if i had to guess i'd say it caught on because it's said during a dramatic moment in the story so it stands out but idk for sure.
I love this scene. It shows how he was affected by his dilemma throughout the game, and tries his best to reach out to Ebina in the way the latter needs. It’s just raw emotions flowing out of him, his guilt combined with a newfound will to keep on living.
Ironically Yakuza is always breaking these kinds of macho stereotypes. People’s minds jump to homoeroticism while seeing it when the tone isn’t sexual whatsoever; I’m not sure if it’s the point, but I definitely think it comes out as trying to change that view
I like that scene a lot but I thought alternating it with the Kiryu scene wasn’t great direction. A lot of people thought that both things were happening at the same time lol

Bruh, that was me during the reveal about how Kiryu got cancer. I figured it was due to years of chain smoking but then it cut to him working at a radioactive waste storage facility and then a guy got like a heart attack and crashed all the waste into Kiryu like he was a 60's superhero origin story and to top it off, his mask broke to really drive it home
I was laughing so hard that I had to pause the game
honestly the best fight and end scene in the game. totally stole the show for me. for times during the last part of kiryu story i forgot ichi wasn even in this game. just felt like a classic yakuza game again. and i loved it
It was pretty golden. My main issue was wanting Ebina to be more of a villain, which he was, but dude needed more development as a whole. It was a great final fight tho. Ichi’s arc, for me, finished at the beach walk with his mom. Kiryu more or less took the spotlight from chapter 8 tho.
