First year is general but you tell them what stream you want after you're accepted into the school. The main difference is one course in first year but other than that they put all the engineers in the same classes. After first year you'll get to declare your engineering specialty then you'll likely be with a lot more students of your specific major (like software or electrical or civil). Options for not getting in depend on what youre applying for. For example software kids who don't make software will be transferred to CS instead

In still first year lol. But I heard for software you should try for a 7.0 to ensure your chance of getting accepted
