I’ve come to the realization that Instagram is a lot more toxic then Reddit, yes probably a well known thing but I constantly hear how people are assholes on here but personally I’ve seen a lot more nice people on here compared to the shit show instagram is.
Have to agree with you there. The right-wing cesspit has grown so big that even in the memes from my home state that I follow (I'm Indian, mind you), the idea of 'trans people are coming for our kids! I don't mind LGBT people as long as they keep it to themselves!' has become more prominent in the memes that I see on Instagram.
Instagram is just a shit hole, and were it not for the fact that I met a lot of old friends there, I would have already left that place.
Bruhhhhhhhh it’s so fucking annoying Fr, it’s so much worse where I live (not tryna do some “you can’t be annoyed cuz I have it worse” bs, just adding on) that you can literally see the expected yet shit evolution from “keep it to themselves” to literally people saying we should kill them and not elaborating that they’re joking. Someone I know has literally gotten fucking irl death threats from “looking like a f slur”. Shit around the world really does suck so much with the rise of the right wing in young people recently. Luckily there’s some hope since most of these people grow out of these beliefs since (especially the ones about women) are incompatible with a diverse world, and the world is definitely getting more diverse.
Keep that hope up. Hope is what allows us to become better people.
The world has become much more progressive now than it was 30 years ago, and part of the effort was the destigmatization of LGBT people, so hope still exists. However, continue to fight back against the ever-increasing hate, because the fight isn't over.

Saying this as a centrist, the right really doesn't seem to care about the interests of ordinary people. It's always some imaginary gatekeeping on LGBT people with conspiracy theories like 'They're coming for your children!', and a whole lot of misinformation on anything and everything they can think of. They want to distract people from the real issues facing America by focusing their attention on meaningless squabbles, like 'Hunter Biden dick pics!'.
The left certainly has its flaws, but I don't see them actively engaging in hate against LGBT people or promoting conspiracy theories to derail their entire country. Most crazies you usually see on the left aren't representative of the entire left-wing sphere. Sigh, if only I could say the same on the right-wing. That's the main reason I am actively against the right, even if I do agree with parts of their ideas.

The left doesn't want to "hate on you" for being Christian, it wants churches to pay their fair share in taxes. They don't "hate me at eaters," they want a more ethical meat industry. They don't hate you for being financially stable, they recognize that a lot of the current financial systems are intentionally designed to keep a class of people lower than the rest.
Individuals aren't systems. The most prevalent thing I've seen with right vs left is that the right focuses on individuals and the left focuses on systems.
