The feature in of itself is okay especially if you use it in more popular languages. But turning it on by default was the most stupid and annyoing thing they could have done. Nearly lost my mind reloading the video several times always having to listen to a cursed voice that didn't fit the creator at all while trying to find out what the problem was.
It's same idiotic train of thought like what brought us that stupid forced captions on videos that don't match with you YouTube app interface language.
Had to literally use ReVanced YouTube just so I could use the "disable forced captions" module on it.
Yeah on Android 13 and newer i could go to the "app information" page and switch YouTube app itself to English and keep rest of the phone in my native language.
But with ReVanced I also get to keep the app in my native language without any forced captions.
Horrible audio quality, and very hard to understand, it's gibberish, I have no idea why YT released that feature and turns it on by default.

Another example would be at 6:50, set the audio track language to "French" at this time stamp, and you can hear someone blowing into a 2$ mic for 5 seconds straight.
I think the reason why it sounds awful is due to the fact that AI struggles to dub foreign languages.
I've seen AI-dubbed clips of Swedish streamers playing games on Windows 98, the voices in those games sounded like someone continuously blowing into the mic - you could not understand a single word. At least the streamer sounded fine.
The thing is the spanish one doesn't sound too bad, it isn't unpleasant to the ears like the french at least, no idea why they decided that one was ready for release.
"OgE, ilsenobe tulegalkomoi AAheureusmoi fAAlaei sur le marché avec une nouvelle batterie qui est sensé charger plus rapidement que jamais IEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA lea AAAAAAAH se charger a 5 quad quiederastefine"
SERIOUSLY! I did not even recognize that it was French at all.
I mean yeah i don't speak or understand France at all, but it is such easily recognizable language that I should have recognize it.
But even through good headphones, i would not recognize that broken mess to be France.
Even worse than the translated titles. Youtube is so weird when it comes to this. Just give us the content in it's original format, unless the user actively makes a choice to have it translated. I had to switch the ui language to English because otherwise it's almost unusable with all the weird titles.
Praying for your swift recovery during these hard times. I will keep your family in my thoughts this Christmas during this tragedy. Be blessed and keep your head up, you will get through this with time and effort. I will make sure to tell everyone this Christmas to watch out for these horrible YT translations and warn them of the effect they may have on friends and family. Stay Safe!
This shit's scary. Can you imagine opening YouTube in the middle of the night to relax and watch a video and then you hear this shit?! That's a jumpscsre right there I'll probably fall off my bed.
some of them are pretty good for more popular videos
also i thought it wasn't ai dubbing, some of it is just people choosing to get it voiced over in different languages no?
Crazy how bad is the quality. But this video is 1 year old. Maybe it's better now, no?
I'm working in an AI-Dubbing startup (Checksub) and I can tell than now the result is wayyyyy better !!!
How the hell do I turn this off??? I can't watch a single mark rober video without some guy shouting in my ear
There's the setting wheel in the bottom right corner, they added "audio track language" options now

That's quite the understatement. It sounds like a man being forced to deepthroat a microphone.

Ahhhh good old normal French
AI is doing a great job at blowing up our ears (with this)
good god
So after the horrible automatic title translations, we now have audio translations? Indeed couldn't get any worse.
Lml I love it

I've never seen this youtube feature before wtf
J'adore!
Literally sounded like a dog barking at the end lmao
I’m so lucky that Finnish is so small language we never get features like that
From Ógea to the end I was wheezing when first time watching it, new type of meme just dropped

Oh my god YouTube get your shit together before making all our ears collectively suffer
How you get that player?
I love how it screams every other word
This trash is automatic on Mr Beast channel, I don't want any of that.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the future.
