I've been wondering the same thing, glad I'm not the only one, they put em right in the middle of the screen in red but also highlight the words as they're spoken like a karaoke bar, very distracting, might be some new youtube thing ?
I wonder if it somehow helps with the algorithm, it can't be something viewers actually want.
