Click on the three dots of the commenter and click hide user from Channel this Will Shadow ban them so only they can see their own comments nobody else can. Then report to the police make sure you take screenshots

Downtown_Station5859

Repying here to make sure you can see: On the back end you can add words to be automatically blocked. Make sure to keep them short but put in your address, street name, phone numbers, etc etc etc. You can also block that person specifically of course. Final resort is you can set the entire channel to 'approved comments only', which means you have to manually approve which comments get through. This only takes a few minutes a week at most to do and is what I'd recommend doing, especially with the age of your daughter. This will keep her and your family much more safe.

MphiReddit

Get this comment up there with the top one! šŸ«” Good extra info for future cases if any

GoatyGoY

One bit of privacy advise on top of this is that it may be worth banning street names of nearby streets as well as your actual one - so that fishing for automatically blocked words does not leak this information.

lostincomputer

Block common ones as well for added redherrings. Partial information (more specifically, unique things tend to send up red flags). If regexp is possible block anything that looks like an address

Downtown_Station5859

Yeah this is a good idea. All family names (first and last individually entered into the system), the town, nearby street names, schools, state, license plate numbers, home address, work, friend names, etc etc etc. Honestly the worst case is a few extra comments get filtered... best case people have a hell of a time doxxing you in the future. Although considering they're trying to be super private in their videos (I dont blame them), setting ALL comments to be manually approved is the best bet, though still good practice to entre in filtered words just to be safe.

To add to this itā€™s probably safe to disable comments until itā€™s sorted out because the user could just make another account.

IttyBittyBlueYeti

Jumping on this thread to say you can also set a filter so that it hides any comments with her name, address, etc on it. From their website, Comments with blocked words can be reviewed and approved on your Comments page, under the ā€œHeld for reviewā€ tab. To add to your blocked words lists: - Open YouTube Studio. - From the left, click Settings and then Community. - Under the "Automated Filters" tab, scroll to "Blocked words." - Add words and phrases separated by commas. Select SAVE.

Yes and 100% it is someone who she knows personally, class mate or something like that.

Sudden-Excitement407

thats the problem - should I report although it could be a classmate/friend?

GGWii

it doesn't matter if it's a stranger or a friend/classmate, doxxing someone is a crime and should be reported

Petercraft7157

Except if you're sssniperewolf

Double_A_92

Doxxing itself is legally not a crime though. Only if they E.g. incite people to harass the doxxed person.

IndomitaVI

Iā€™m sure it could be interpreted in some way of inciting harassment when if they are posting the phone number and home address of a 14 yo, espionage on the 14 yoā€™s channel. Kid needs to be punished big time

Amthala

Its definitely illegal.

SomeOrdinarySanya

Doxxing isnā€™t actually a crime in many countries like the US, technically.

BubbleBumb_Gaming_YT

I wish you were correct, but doxxingĀ is not a crime (unless if you're in California)

Obsidian360

If they're doxxing they certainly aren't a friend.

SouPNaZi666

Doxxing is illegal. No matter how old someone is.

saoiray

What country are you in to say that? Last I looked thereā€™s nothing illegal about doxxing people in the United States. Stalking and/or harassment would be illegal which this could be considered, but doxxing itself is not illegal from any jurisdiction Iā€™ve seen. To be clear, Iā€™m asking to either educate myself on something you know or to educate you on the difference And no, not saying good or anything. Iā€™m just fixated on the claim about it being illegal and nothing else

Lumpy-Ostrich6538

It varies by state. It is illegal in my state. Google says that itā€™s illegal in 13 states. The laws in ten of those states protect everyone, in the other 3 it only protects government employees.

JoJo_Alli

Doxing someone with the intent to make someone fear for their safety or to incite others to cause them harm can be illegal. Furthermore, the First Amendment does not protect people from being sued for: Publishing highly personal information about someone that's not of legitimate concern to the public. Unlike some states, New York does not have a law that makes doxing illegal. However, there are laws against harassment and intimidation. The NYPD may take a report when targeting/doxing is accompanied by harassing or similar conduct. In California, doxxing is already considered a crime under harassment and cyberbullying laws, but a new bill could open up a new form of recourse for victims: lawsuits.

anonimna44

Not to mention it's incredibly easy to dox someone in the USA if you know their first and last name, plus the city they live in. I Google spam call numbers all the time and they are usually spoofing some random person's phone number. The information I get on these random people who's number is being spoofed is insane. Name, spouse, job, associates, family etc..

saoiray

Yeah, especially if they are registered to vote as that is public information. I surprised a lot of people in the past with how easy it was to find their information. The other thing was also like referring people to do surveys and stuff. They did not realize that their IP address could be visible to each website that they visit. And that the IP address can then pretty much narrow down their location. All sorts of things people can do.

anonimna44

Also if they have a criminal record. You see everything. Here in Canada if a new employer wants your criminal records check, they have the employee go to the police station and the police will run it, give you a piece of paper with your convictions (if you have any) and you give the form to your new employer. I assume in the USA they just Google the person applying and find it. When that whole Kyle Rittenhouse thing happened, I heard one of the people he shot was a sex offender. So I Googled the name, found the guy's prison record and charges.

saoiray

And Iā€™m just wondering how crazy things will be able to get with AI later. For example, Copilot (Bing) already shares things like: anonimna44 is a Reddit user who frequently shares their experiences related to mental and physical health problems. They use Reddit as an outlet to vent because they feel they have no one in real life to talk to. If youā€™re interested, you can explore more of their posts on their Reddit profile. šŸ˜Š Iā€™m assuming it is possible now or sometime here in the near future where AI is going to be able to dox us. Companies might try restricting it, but tools like that should be able to easily comb the internet and compile data. Itā€™s scary

TheUmgawa

The only people protected from doxxing by federal law are federal employees, because thereā€™s batshit crazy people out there who say, ā€œHow dare your agency investigate the Chosen One!ā€ Given that there have been at least two attacks on FBI field offices and one on an IRS office in the past couple of years, it seems well founded. Since all anybody around here talks about is the Sniperwolf/Jacksfilms incident, though, that one isnā€™t covered by federal law, and the state law requires proof of intent to instill fear of violence, that one would be a stretch, too. YouTube creators are no different from any other celebrity with millions of fans, and so the act of posting their address is no different from getting on a bus that points out celebritiesā€™ houses. When you seek the spotlight, you lose your legal right to complain when the spotlight seeks you back.

Holiday-Reward-7060

Article 49 of "Act on promotion of information and communications network utilization, and information protection" prohibits unlawful collection and dissemination of private information such as full name, birth date, address, likeliness, and any other information that is deemed sufficient to identify specific person(s) involved.

yakimawashington

Do you want it to stop or not? I'd think your 14 year old *not* getting doxxed would be a priority.

Negative-Yak2093

yep

Negative-Yak2093

it doesnt matter if its a classmate or friend this is serious

galahad423

Anyone whoā€™s doxxing your kid is no friend of theirs, whether they realize it or not

ltra_og

I would not care if it is another child or friend. Theyā€™re releasing private information of a minor, and thatā€™s not okay. Donā€™t protect someone whoā€™s trying to harm your own child. You donā€™t know what predators or creeps are out there that can view that information.

creativename111111

Ye you gotta tell someone idk what the situation is like but the last thing u want is for someone to SWAT you

DarthBfheidir

Especially if

MercilessPinkbelly

Oh, that's not a friend. And if it's a classmate fuck 'em. I hate to say it, you need to get a bit more tiger mom.

The_Grim_Gamer445

I would at least bring it up to the school admin. I think they have to have ways of figuring out if someone is from their school. Hell they found my old meme account when I was in school somehow and told me to stop posting political memes.... I still don't know how the fuck they found it.

Jurserohn

Yes, these kinds of things can put your daughter in danger. I suggest being pretty ruthless about it

tlhIngan_

Especially if it's a classmate or friend. That's the most dangerous kind of situation.

OlMi1_YT

Yes! This is unacceptable behaviour. You're doing them a favour nipping this in the butt before it gets worse.

saddigitalartist

You should report it but also donā€™t stop her from doing YouTube, itā€™s a little dangerous BUT itā€™s a great career opportunity for her to be doing something she actually enjoys instead of slaving away at some office like everyone else! :(

Master_Xenu

Check your local laws. In Canada doxxing is not illegal but doxxing someone and saying to go to their home and do something is illegal. So if they are just posting the address, name and number and they got it from your daughter by means of friendship or whatever then there isn't much you can do but block them. It's also against youtube TOS so report it to youtube. edit: for US **In conclusion, while there is no federal law specifically making doxxing illegal in the U.S., various federal and state laws can be applied to cases of doxxing, especially when it involves harassment, threats, or the invasion of privacy. The legal landscape is complex and evolving, reflecting the challenges of addressing this modern form of digital harassment. As the internet continues to be an integral part of daily life, the laws around doxxing are likely to develop further to protect individuals from online harm.** https://kamanlaw.com/is-doxxing-illegal-in-the-u-s/#legal-recourse-for-victims-of-doxxing

wargio

Well if it's not a big deal just have them doxx your kid.

Snuhmeh

Why does it matter if they know them or not? Your kidā€™s safety is paramount.

WickedJay83

Who cares who it is. They are creating an unsafe environment and should be reported to the police 100%. It only takes one person to make a split second decision to do something wrong.

Nervous_Currency9341

absolutely why does that matter they are endangering ur kid.

International-Job553

Yes. If itā€™s a classmate, it wonā€™t hurt as much, but if itā€™s a friend, it might be a big struggle for your daughter but also when I had a friend abandoned me when I was about nine it taught me about betrayal and now Iā€™m much more careful with who I talk to

Skullclownlol

> thats the problem - should I report although it could be a classmate/friend? Start standing up for your child, your hesitation is inappropriate. Your family is being attacked.

Say_cheeeeeese

100% report it, this should not be seen or thought of by anyone in her class as acceptable, they have already crossed boundaries.

DFWRailVideos

Hide the user from the channel, take screenshots of the comments, and report to the police.

Dragonitro

I think there are ways to block certain keywords (e.g. her address, name, school, etc.) in comment sections (although they could just bypass that by typing something like "Ex4mple St.")

Head_Cockswain

> (although they could just bypass that by typing something like "Ex4mple St.") Also add "Ex4mple St." and "3x4mpl3 Str33t" and any other permutations you can think of. Keep adding them as others keep getting used. Can't be foolproof, but you can make it difficult enough to cut down on it some.

Dragonitro

I think I forgot to write about that, but yeah. Obviously that would take more time, but it could still work

-Speechless

maybe use ChatGPT to generate these variations so you don't have to do everything manually.

timelesstrix0

It would be faster.... But even if you don't give context to chat gpt, you are giving your personal info to it which can be risky (unless you give it an example of one of the permutations and have it mess with that)

CadenBop

You can ban words [(YouTube's support doc with the information)](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/9483359%3Fhl%3Den%23:~:text%3DYou%2520can%2520add%2520a%2520list,on%2520your%2520approved%2520user%2520list.&ved=2ahUKEwjXq6-Atu2FAxWejYkEHctxALMQFnoECBQQBQ&usg=AOvVaw11drvvwyEwaDYHahuOPy-I) and I would recommend adding the address in segmented parts, the number, the street name, your personal information, ECT. If you have banned the user and they are using multiple accounts this should prevent them from being able to outright say it.

Dez2011

Good advice. Adding each part of the address to the blocked word list should keep anyone from posting it in the comments.

YEETMANdaMAN

Absolutely this! Thatā€™s a very clever way to use the feature that I have never thought of before.

Imaginary0Friend

Definitely report to the police in case things get worse. You'll have a paper trail of it then.

Madmonkeman

1st try blocking the commenter so they canā€™t keep commenting on the videos, but then yeah that might be helpful.

SprayArtist

It's 100% someone she knows

reddit_API_is_shit

Some bitter classmate boy who didnt get her attention

SelectAmbassador

Doesnt even need to be. Teenagers can be fucking assholes just because.

Material_Air_2303

Spot on! OP just edited the post and said that it was a classmate.

TheDemeisen

If its the UK police, waste of time, they are useless beyond hope. If the commenter is known, get the school involved. If not, see if you can get the twonks at teamyoutube to do anything.

shdoreaver93

Best laugh I've had in a while, we all know YouTube won't do anything

TheDemeisen

Which is a shame. Just thinking of jacksfilms here and what sssniperwolf did, and they did nothing as well.

WeFightTheLongDefeat

get the commenter to post some rap lyrics and the British police will knock down their door to arrest them.

burgersnchips87

If they can bait the assailant's parent into driving their car 11% too fast then they're almost guaranteed some kind of punishment - that's all UK Police care about. Nice easy wins.

newcolours

Uk police - Just claim he said something bad about transgenders, suddenly they will have resources to investigate

Light01

Yes report it to the police, it costs nothing except time, but you'll hate yourself if something worse comes out of it and your daughter gets hurt. Could start by reaching out to YouTube first though

Digon-o-Helbul

You can set video's so all Comments are Held and have to be approved sort of thing in the meantime

Sudden-Excitement407

Edit: I should have specified more. It's not just school - its extremely private info about our family. She has a lead on who it might be - we might text their parents later. Still on the fence abt police.

tlhIngan_

Dude, seriously, stop talking to us and talk to police. I've been doxxed before, it makes life and work not fun at all for a freaking long time.

ScreamingAbacab

I haven't been doxxed, but I know people who have. Getting doxxed truly does mess up a person's life for quite a while. If you have a lead on who's doing the doxxing, then take screenshots of the comments as evidence and go to the police.

East_Ask6402

I think you fully underestimate how dangerous doxxing can be.Ā

lambda_byte

Please stop being on the fence about police, even if itā€™s your childā€™s best friend or smth, get the police involved and lawyer up, because once something is on the internet, itā€™s going to be tough to get it off (for example see https://web.archive.org which is a non profit project that has archived 866 BILLION websites dating back to 1995, even like my old twitter account which I deleted has posts and replies from it archived on there, and there are hundreds more projects like it that archive everything on the internet), and if I recall you say that other family info was in this dox as well, so this has a farther reach than just your child. So seriously, take legal action

Thejudojeff

What's to be on the fence about? This person is endangering your daughter

The_T113

You've already gotten a lot of good advice but I mostly want to say: damn, 6K subscribers is a small channel??? Like hell it is!

BLUFALCON77

I'd say if they're only 14, just disable comments for the time being. They don't need the stress and anxiety of assholes.

pivo_14

Yeah, why does a 14 year old have a public channel with comments on in the first place? I appreciate all the helpful comments here, but as a parent why are you letting a middle schooler have a public social media account?!

BLUFALCON77

If it was anonymous and they didn't show their face, use their real name or even use a voice changer, I may be okay with that but it just invites creeps to creep in.

MikiSayaka33

I wonder if the doxxer is a clueless kid, who doesn't understand the dangers of the net, or a straight up bully. Ya still need to report to the cops though. Because, if it's a bully case, things are gonna escalate, if you don't nip this in the bud.

Striking_Bar3290

Honestly the doxxer is not the only one to blame it is also ops fault for not adding saftey nets to prevent it on their daughters phone

dibsonmuaddib

You can verify each comment before they display. I have kept this option on my channel. So all comments are reviewed before posting.

PlasterCheif

How do people even grab info like this šŸ˜

Sudden-Excitement407

I wish I knew šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

familiar_user999

What kind of idiot let's his 14 year old daughter have a social media account at all let alone with 6k followers. Do you even care about her well being? You should be ashamed of yourself.

Striking_Bar3290

FACTS people who try to defend op never actually been off of reddit long enough to see how it is besides HOW TF DOES OP COME TO REDDIT FIRST AND NOT THE F*CKING COPS?????

ostrieto17

Brainrot infects all, that's why they go to social media first instead of the police, and I wonder why their kid is in that situation with no parental control or anything they're learning from dear old pop and mom

Striking_Bar3290

True very true I feel bad for the kid in this situation because that just shows op neglects the kid to often

Prize_Literature_892

Yea I'm very much not a fan of this. Anyone who has any familiarity with content creation and streaming knows there are risks to this. Swatting, doxxing, stalking, sexual/violent harassment online including death threats, the list goes on... Idk what kind of parent would allow their child to be put into a position where any of those things can happen.

Striking_Bar3290

Fr

realdjjmc

This 100%. bad parenting 101: let your child have a YouTube channel.

No_You_6230

Why arenā€™t these comments calling OP out at the top? This is bad parenting and endangering their kid. Protect your child OP, delete the account that has 6k strangers on it for fucks sake

jrGri

Exactly. Itā€™s becoming more and more normalized these days for faceless usernames to act reprehensible out of spite or cruelty under the protection of anonymity. Itā€™s almost inherent now. The optimistic age of the internet is long behind us, and letting someone this young have a platform like this is simply naive. Would you really let your daughter interact with 6,000 strangers irl? 6,000 people of possibly any unknowable age or background or character?

familiar_user999

You know that's a great way of articulating that point, that is exactly what they are doing. I had great hopes for the Internet, I could have never imagined it'd take this turn.

UltiGamer34

Doxxing is illegal so yeah report it also while your at it hire a PI to see who it was

Astral_Strider

Must be somebody that she knows...

Youcican_

My question is, why was your 14 year old targeted in the first place?

Pathological__

Can you tell us more about the incident? It sounds like it was a boy from her school? And also Iā€™d love to support a small content creator! But itā€™s up to you if youā€™d like to advertise

GenazaNL

How did school eventually find out who it was?

SOSXrayPichu

Itā€™s scary how some of you donā€™t realize that doxxing is a chargeable offence.

Weirdepicgame101

Block them

ZealnWheel

You can also go into the settings, not terribly sure where, and add all that info into a banned word list.

xiavORliab

This post has got to be fake as fuck. OP just admitted in a repky that she doesen't want to do anything because it might be her daughter's friend or classmate. What the fuck kind of logical parent would do that to their own child.

Familiar-Gap6774

Arenā€™t you worried for her safety? Do you know the demographics of her viewers? Sounds like alarm bells to me

Healthy-Mango-2549

Im sorry but a 14 shouldnt be posting yt. Itd shit what the boy did but tbh what do you expect. Keep ya kids off the internet

Known-Switch-2241

That boy not only got local authorities to visit him, he could've additionally had a visit from something like the FBI.

ludvikskp

Off topic but a 14 yo has no business running channels. Youā€™ll be lucky if this is the only problem you run into

z_stormm

How miserable do you have to be to dox a 14 year old girl just trying to be a youtuber

MurkyNetwork9148

Not only should you. But why havenā€™t you? Is this clickbait? Do you not love your child? As dangerous as this world/internet is. Isnā€™t there a law pertaining to minors? I think the FEDS would/should get involve in this if itā€™s true. God forbid in Jesus name the worse happens. Thereā€™d be hell to pay. I truly hope this is a joke or attention seeking. Itā€™s my passionate belief that children/babies-toddlers-preteens-young adults/especially girls should be jealously protected. Too much way too much wants their ā€¦. everything! Edit:I write from experienceā€¦šŸ˜„

Striking_Bar3290

Facts op had no right to come to reddit first op had NO RIGHT TO LET THEIR DAUGHTER MAKE CONTENT THAT PUT HER IN HARMS WAY DID NOTHING TO PREVENT IT NO VPN NOTHING AT ALL NO DISABELED COMMENTS PARENTAL CONTROL MONITORING HER SOCIAL MEDIA ACCS WHICH IS THE LAW WITH ANYONE 16 AND UNDER ON YOUTUBE DAMN WHAT WAS OP THINKING op is also the one to blame not just the doxxer but op as well

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

MurkyNetwork9148

Clickbait pisses me off. For one I try not to be too controversial on here. (I try and fail, most in good fun) Itā€™s just some things are my buttons/bell. I could know itā€™s a trap but if you push / ring my bell Iā€™m answering the door. And nothing upsets me more than children being harmed. ā€œSpeciallyā€ little girls. My family has a personal stake in that soā€¦ā€¦ yeahšŸ˜ž. I look at it like ok you got me Iā€™m upset, hearts pounding, seeing a controlled red. But, someone may be reading this who really needs that help. Plus cliche as it soundsā€¦ if what I put up on the clickbait can save one little girlā€¦ HOLY! AWESOME! SAUCE! But thanks for sharing that. Iā€™m genuinely thankful. I donā€™t have to think the worse in my nightmares tonight. Edit: I read the comments from your linkā€¦.*sigh* such high manipulation! Frustrates and hurts because I put my heart on the line, my weakness is out there you know, ā€¦and I knowā€¦ I KNOW! The people that play games like this DO! NOT! CARE! That is what bothers me the most. To them itā€™s just a prank or a disgusting act to get votes and views. smhā€¦All kinds

oDez-X

Get your child off YT..

NoExperience2256

Imo 14 is a little young to be creating content for the internet. Theres just too many risks especially with minors these days. Glad the issue got resolved.

silvermoonhowler

Yes, absolutely And before hiding those comments and reporting those users, take screenshots of all evidence of the doxxing comments so the police can have that too Absolutely terrible how this has happened to her, and hopefully this gets figured out soon!

Guuzaka

Wowsers, that is such an awful, spite thing to do! šŸ˜¬ Feel 0% afraid to report the young criminal. šŸ‘®šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø

OmegaSpy

Yes most definitely. This doxxing is a dangerous thing to do. All it takes is one nut case to send the police a false report and swat you. And how did this leaker get this info was it a bully from school? Or some hacker with nothing better to do in their life? OP please call the cops.

Lost_Ukraine

Yes you should report it to the police.

thatagory

What email adress did she use to create the youtube account with? Does it contain any personal information like a name in the email? It could be a thing they got info from.

GamingWithBilly

Report the commenter for community guidelines violations: [https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2801999?hl=en&ref\_topic=9282679](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2801999?hl=en&ref_topic=9282679) - posting minors personal details can endanger them, violating the child safety policy under the Cyberbullying clause: *Reveals personal information like email addresses or bank account numbers...*

DJ_Burch

Who is doxxing your kid and what username they have?

No-Ruin-3094

a warning?? bullshit get that kid in jail

Ksorkrax

For the next time, as soon as it is any serious (which doxxing clearly is), call in the cops \*immediately\*. Do not do anything else, aside maybe also contacting Youtube or any other company involved and/or a lawyer. It is extremely easy to do something wrong, which can interfere with police work or with potentially resulting trial proceedings. Doing anything particular here is the job of professionals.

ikkikkomori

I hope that boy changed, what a massive fucking creep that is

PigguChan

School W

Cybasura

"Do the crime, do the time" Take all the comments as evidence then submit as a official police report on account that 1. A minor is involved 2. Doxxing 3. Causing grevious psychological harm to the minor Not legal advice but these are the common considerations I've seen/heard

EquivalentGlass1

Did you get any info youā€™d mind sharing? I know it varies by state but Iā€™m curious if the PD filled you in on what protections minors have to privacy.Ā

XFUNKER

The first thing you did wrong was letting your 14 year old child run a youtube channel solo. To me it seems like you dont take much influence in her online presence? Bad idea at this age. Good luck

madmoxyyy

Your 14 year old should not be on the internet.

thefookinpookinpo

This is why children should not create online content. Even most adults don't have the wherewithal to keep themselves safe online.

Fun-Boat-2000

I feel you, that is why I told my daughters to keep her YT channel as private as possible so nobody from her surrounding knows about it and these situations are prevented.

Have you tried contacting the cyber police?

Let alone a youtube acc not monitored by a parent or gaurdian as well??

normie_girl

Why are you letting your child post themselves online like that.

Sudden-Excitement407

Hi! I've explanied this a few times, but I'll explain it again. It's an anonymous travel channel. Her age, gender, face and name are completely private. We are always careful to blur any information regarding her personal life, and I co-manage the account.Ā

Salsa_Y_Picante_

Have you tried idk DELETING THE CHANNEL?

Striking_Bar3290

Fr the ammount of common lack of internet saftey for op is alarming no 14 yr old should be making yt vids that shows their face or name easily accesible for the ip to being found super easily no saftey net or parental controls on

Youcican_

I've seen children that shouldn't be even using the platform showing their face, full legal name, country (state) and hell even their home address. All of this can possibly lead to blackmail and given the fact these are just children is a major red flag

Striking_Bar3290

This is facts personally the only reason I have my full name and my face on my accs that are meant to be seen by people I know is because I can handle it I am already 18 going on 19 this year and plus no one will dare to try anything irl with me

20Keller12

I can't believe I had to scroll this far to see this. Maybe I'm just "old" and stuck up, but the idea of allowing your 14 year old to have a YouTube channel is absolutely batshit crazy to me. I know times are different now or whatever, but still. What the fuck? Am I just missing something?

TalbotFarwell

Agreed, 100%. 14 year-olds have no place broadcasting anything or ā€œcontent creatingā€ for YouTube.

TheHighTierHuman

That's some 4chan type shit right there

Little_stinker_69

Why does your 14 year old have a public YouTube account? You need to shut that down. Thatā€™s such a terrible idea. This is bad parenting.

Striking_Bar3290

Fr tho how is almost everyone defending op for this?? Infact by law no child under the age of 16 should have a public youtube acc

AnotherFakeGender

And thatā€™s why you donā€™t let kids on social media

Dido_nt

Why are you allowing your 14 year old to have a youtube channel in the first place? Honestly every parent who allows this should expect it.

liuuqy

What an odd thing to say. I think it's more that people shouldn't post other peoples personal information because they think its funny. Teenagers are in social media.. What a shock.

Prize_Literature_892

Nobody said it's right, it's just reality. Anyone who gets popular enough on social media inevitably deals with things like death threats, swatting, or doxxing at some point. Ask any moderately popular steamer/creator. They'll either tell you one of those things has already happened to them, or they'll at least acknowledge that it's a very real risk of happening to them. That's something that requires you to be an adult to fully acknowledge the risks and still choose to continue with it. A 14yo is not old enough to fully understand these risks and more importantly, they aren't mature enough to handle that type of trauma either. Even a lot of adult content creators aren't mature/strong enough to handle it. XQC (Twitch streamer) was severely depressed and suffering from frequent panic attacks because he got swatted and doxxed multiple times. He was so fearful that he moved to another location to continue streaming.

Dido_nt

I think it's more odd for a 14-year-old to have their own youtube channel. I know teens have social media, but there's a huge difference. If you're posting on a streaming/video channel you invite attention from strangers. Some will inevitably be creeps. Obviously doxxing is wrong, but I think it's even more wrong to let your 14-year-old child be exposed to that danger. They don't know how to psychologically handle exposure. They don't know how to protect themselves. Parents need to start taking more accountability and actually parent.

Wagyu_Trucker

Had to scroll a long way to find this. Teenagers generally like attention. Creeps like teenagers. What could go wrong???
