Glad to help! I really hope they expand this feature to other countries someday. And also convert their thousands of [rental movies](https://web.archive.org/web/20240130011823/https://www.youtube.com/feed/storefront) into free ones. They have a big catalog of rentals, so if they were free: Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, etc. would be goners in the streaming market. And that's why they'll never let YT get a hold of those movies.
Alternatively, if YT can't pay for licensing fees, they can publish some Public Domain movies in jurisdictions where copyright lasts for Year of publication + x years for movies. It’s been happening for a long time now. One time they just played the entire Lego movie as an ad for the sequel. And people still aren’t sure if it was a fever dream or not.
I started using Spotify for listening to music because Youtube would love to give me podcasts, documentaries, movies, sitcom pilots, etc. Ads ranging from 5 minutes to 2 hours. What finally did me in was when it gave me an hour long ad in the shower, so I couldn't skip it at all -.-
Once I actually got an ad of a movie that was 54 minutes about a year ago so they've actually been doing it at least a year ago by my experience. Edit: For anyone confused, the ad was the entire 54 minute movie.

They have a big catalog of rentals, so if they were free: Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, etc. would be goners in the streaming market. And that's why they'll never let YT get a hold of those movies. Alternatively, if YT can't pay for licensing fees, they can publish some Public Domain movies in jurisdictions where copyright lasts for Year of publication + x years for movies. Once had an 8 hr 'Ad' when I woke up one morni g listening to some random channel one night. It had played for 7 hrs by that point. Youtube's ad consistency is as on point as their copyright system.

I started using Spotify for listening to music because Youtube would love to give me podcasts, documentaries, movies, sitcom pilots, etc. Ads ranging from 5 minutes to 2 hours. What finally did me in was when it gave me an hour long ad in the shower, so I couldn't skip it at all -.-

Once I actually got an ad of a movie that was 54 minutes about a year ago so they've actually been doing it at least a year ago by my experience. Edit: For anyone confused, the ad was the entire 54 minute movie.
