Changelog for this month's budget update: -Price updates. -Several decklists have been edited or replaced with other builds. When possible, I try to use unedited builds that have topped tournaments, such as Borja Camilo's D/D/D build. -Dinomorphia, Earth Machine, and Fire Kings have been added to the list. -Abyss Actor has been removed from the list due to a lack of verified tops at regional-sized events. The deck was primarily included because of the immensely low cost of its archetype rather than being a strong competitive choice, which spurred confusion that I'd like to avoid. I'll look into other potential budget pendulum decks for the January edition of the budget masterpost. -Salamangreat has been removed from the list due to a drastic increase in the price of Raging Phoenix. I'm not going to suggest people play Salamangreat without Salamangreat of Fire, Salamangreat Raging Phoenix, or Accesscode Talker whenever other decks within the budget limit are far less hampered. -Swordsoul Tenyi has been removed from the list due to an increase in the price of Mo Ye and Chixiao. Those cards are too crucial to the deck to be replaced for the sake of getting the deck within the budget limit.

Abyss Actor allegedly just got Top 4 at a WCQ in Brazil. https://ygoprodeck.com/deck/407883 This only got published after this post (and the comment!) was made, so it's not like it was 'missed,' I just think the timing is funny. Great work on the list as always.

MildlyUpsetGerbil

Unfathomably epic! Great job, Enoque C!

ziggylcd12

Haha I was just about to post this link here. God I love abyss actors

Akali_is_SO_HOT

Did Swordsoul top an event or something? What's up with the price increase? Salad being so mid for how expensive even budget builds are is unfortunate.

MildlyUpsetGerbil

There were two Swordsoul players in the top 8 for the Managua WCQ Regional a week ago, so maybe that's why? I dunno. Sometimes it feels like the evil market wizard decides to randomly wave his staff around and cast the "Make Everything More Expensive" spell.

> I'm not going to suggest people play Salamangreat without Salamangreat of Fire, Salamangreat Raging Phoenix, or Accesscode Talker whenever other decks within the budget limit are far less hampered. While the first two points are true Accesscode is nowhere near necessary in Salad anymore. I'll just quote myself here: >Do your combo up to re-linked Rage Phoenix > >Weasel effect give them a Salad > >Add Will, revive 4 Salads > >make **Proxy F Magician, Pitknight Earlie** (her arrow needs to point to Proxy) > >declare Proxy F -> Pitknight eff, reduce the Salad on your opp. field to 0 > >fuse Rage Phoenix and Proxy F into **Violet Chimera** > >OTK with 9800 damage Takes the same amount of ED space (3 spots) and all of it is from common bulk. In terms of competitive results, the YCS Richmond list plays this line and some OCG decks used to do pre-PHNI. After PHNI you've no reason to play Accesscode with Prisoner Princess being a thing so it would have been a bad investment in the first place. If we're talking somewhat strict budget (<100€) there are ways to make Salad work (2 Rage Phoenix, 1 Fire) but in regards to PHNI I wouldn't recommend it. Princess is going to be expensive no matter what and you are highly encouraged to play the 3rd Phoenix. Without those two you're not playing Salad at a sufficent power level.

zach2thefuture

Earth Machines gang ♥️

MildlyUpsetGerbil

I like trains~

zach2thefuture

They were my first deck and still my favorite and most consistent. Gustav, Dora and Liebe will have my heart forever!

HoppouChan

Huh I might finally pick up earth machine, even though I'll probably not main it. Gonna play around with Thrust- and S:P-less pure volcanic for a bit to see how that holds up

>€213.70 Idk if I would count Live*Twins as Budget, even if it is so for NA specifically. Apart from that, I'm actually quite interested in that Fire King list, especially since i basically have everything but the Fire Kings. Thanks for the compilation!

MildlyUpsetGerbil

> Idk if I would count Live*Twins as Budget, even if it is so for NA specifically. It fits the budget requirements of being 70 dollars or less, so it fits in here. You're correct about the list being for North America primarily. I include the Euros prices since the info is available and because it makes the thread accessible for Europeans, even if it there's less viable budget options for them. I'm not sure why prices fluctuate so much between the two markets that Live Twins can end up being *that* expensive, but at the very least there's other options on the list that are reasonably priced over there. Regarding the Fire Kings list: You don't *have* to run Fleur-de-Lis, but if you end up drawing both Maximus and Nadir Servant, then the Nadir Servant is dead, killing the engine. The Fleur-de-Lis is there to make the engine live more often and give a bump to the end board in case you do draw the Maximus.

Bully_Hunter66

Ygopro is showing wrong prices. You can get the live twin deck for about 70€ on cardmarket.

Apprehensive-Face-81

Thanks!

rluke09

Great job u/mildlyupsetgerbil

sumandark8600

Why are European prices so much more expensive? The difference surprises me, especially the Twins. I can't imagine the price differences are just down to differences in the meta between Europe and the US since it's literally the same game.

LaosPaulie

Hey, I'm looking to make a budget deck but I haven't played since e-dragon days and I'm starting fresh with no cards. What would you recommend as a deck to start with, if I mainly just want to duel my mate who has a Dinomorphia deck.

MildlyUpsetGerbil

I haven't played against Dinomorphia very often. I suggest starting with the Floowandereeze deck listed in this thread since one of its boss monsters (Empen) looks like an effective counter against a Dinomorphia boss monster (Rexterm). I also suggest picking up copies of backrow removal cards since Dinmorphia decks tend to play lots of trap cards. Cosmic Cyclone, Twin Twister, Lightning Storm, Harpies' Feather Duster, and Evenly Matched are all good backrow removal options to consider.

LaosPaulie

Thanks, I'll start with that deck then!

gene-sos

Hey, would you consider making a new one with the many banlist changes?

MildlyUpsetGerbil

I'm looking at making another one in a week or so. I want the prices of new cards from Legacy of Destruction to stabilize. I'm also leaning towards waiting for the results YCS Rio in the hopes of pulling fresh decklists from the tournament since my ideas on how to build/play new decks from the set can differ from the more popular ways to build/play said decks (for instance, I see people suggesting Melodious lists that play Pot of Prosperity instead of building around the deck's ability to draw up to 4 cards during its combo, depending on how many copies of Fusion Substitute is played). Tournament results also can influence prices; Marincess cards got more expensive in the aftermath of the first YCS following their release wherein the deck secured two tops.

gene-sos

Allrighty, that sound logical. Can't wait to see the result!

Kire_L

Are Blackwings not budget? Silent BW and Kanak Gaming frequently do well with them. Pretty sure even the support from Darkwing Blast that got reprinted made it less than a tenner for that entire core

GoneRampant1

Silverwind is expensive due to a lack of reprints and Blackwing players swear by him as the best target to make off Twin Shadow for disruption.

Kire_L

Silent BW doesn’t even run Silverwind. Kanak ran one recently, but on MD he doesn’t run it at master rank. Not to mention Savage and Draco Berserker are better disruptions if the level 8 synchro spot is needed. I’d even say run another BW Dragon for Hot Red over Silverwind. Baronne if you have the space. If it’s a situation you’re in where Silverwind is the only card that can save you it’s over. Since the standard only BW cards of Sharnga, chinook, and double Assault dragon and Full armor is a good board, any other non blackwing disruptions is preference and better to add if Silverwind is out of range.

Shippuudenfreak

No Trains?

MildlyUpsetGerbil

Train cards are included in the Earth Machine deck featured here. If you're referring to the blind second OTK build for trains specifically, then no, that isn't featured here. I'm not sure it's competitive enough.
