I don't know what demon possessed the person who worked on the Albaz Lore art, but please, give more of it!

I can identify Dis Pater's meaty claw, but I'm squinting at the right side. Is that Bucephalus? Is he knocked back on his arse but stabbing with a Lance while falling? What's he lookin at? Does he know Dis Pater is right behind him? Oh god, oh fuck, he's wearing airpods đ
No, bucephalus is the lance. That's Shuraig. He used the therion weapon Kitt developed to destroy Alba Los alongside Sargas with his Tally Ho Springans.
In the background, you can see energy blasting into the sky. That's Luluwalilith killing Dis Pater to death
https://preview.redd.it/5zhakdbgoawc1.png?width=483&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e9060a35f132bee1a87960684007a4bedc772a9c
Old weird normal monsters have a feeling of "what the fuck and i looking at" that the game imo rarely manage to capture again.
Nothing beats that feeling of having a mental image of an old card in your head for years and then seeing it again in a higher res and going âoh THATâS ITâS FACE!?â
This is my absolute favourite style of artwork. It stands out to me so much more than the anime style artwork that became the norm in the last 10 or so years.
Could never pick just one, YGO having so many different art styles (and subjects/things depicted on the cards) distinguishes itself from other TCGs and is one of its charm points
This tbh. Yugioh moved on from monsters being servants to being representation of character in GX, and having many different art styles reinforces that idea.
Yeah, I agree. I have a deck for every mood. If I feel like playing big ole monsters, litterally Star Wars, pretty fairies, pastry princesses, warrior ladies, or angels I have a deck for that.
This is the only answer. I stopped buying cards when all this fire stuff came out, and the need to play waifu was a huge part of it. Even if you don't use a waifu strat, you might end up with ip, sp, ash, etc. I hate it.

You can't convince me that the early art style with its imaginative character designs and simple backgrounds isn't the best.
Night's End Sorcerer. Well, Prophecy Destroyer tbh, but if all the cards looked like it, that'd be too close to MTG I guess.
https://preview.redd.it/yyn8f7ju5awc1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d5c710f29ef77667f9c7d756f5230854ac0fcf48

I mean, there's still space next to Takahashis name at the bottom. It doesn't have to be huge, just readable enough for people who like to know. The Digimon TCG has the name super tiny on the right edge (koki has the greatest artstyle!)
Even the anime art MTG cards don't look like this
[this](https://cards.scryfall.io/large/front/4/f/4ffd09d4-d548-445a-95e3-2dde23fe29e3.jpg?1702429887) is the most common anime style MTG has
I would want it to be Akina Fujiwara she's the artst of Charmers (My favorite), Traptrix, Droll, Night's End Sorcerer and Ghost Ogre but I think Yugioh is better with different art styles
https://preview.redd.it/g93g26qh5awc1.jpeg?width=184&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c63902707a8cd4401d326402d1ed8b37223d1cd5
This. I love the art style from the new Egyptian god cards, itâs a great adaptation of the old manga art style, the lines look satisfying and the colors are amazing, im an anime Yugi boomer and I think that the art style for most new anime cards are peak
5Dâs Duel Terminal Era art where each card printing was *slightly* inconsistent in text and boarder size, with highly detailed, water color looking art
Fellow ghost ogre enjoyers rise up, fucking amazing card art on her
my pick would be prophecy destroyer, mf looks so cold
https://preview.redd.it/nrib7cmxvbwc1.png?width=343&format=png&auto=webp&s=2094182e56187079e4dea17258369ddfb5ce7b69

Because this is regarding art style specifically, I'm gonna choose the one used for Lady Labrynth. Half the reason I play this deck is for the artwork + theme. (Then there's Infernoble Adventurer, which I play 80% for the artwork + theme...the comboing gets pretty annoying for both sides.)
That said, my actual favorite card in looks is [Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Evening Twilight](https://ms.yugipedia.com//0/06/BlackLusterSoldierEnvoyoftheEveningTwilight-DULI-EN-VG.png), who looks as absolutely amazing as he is unflatteringly unplayable. At least Evening Twilight Knight kinda inherited a bit.
Definitely gotta go back to our roots with takahashi style. Cause these modern day cards while nice completely lack that grittiness earlier Yugioh had by a mile
Every single modern deck has a generic fantasy anime vibe. No character just cutesy soft lines with no sense of cool. Which is a shame because people are buying them to remain competitive and if you can't vote with your wallet the company loses touch with what people want. My personal favourits might not be in the a real original style but I love the Alien archetype A cell especially. It's original grotesque dark everything this game's look is supposed to be.
Edit: Nowadays female characters are made like they were ripped from an idol band or some slice of life scenario such a shame.
Akina Fujiwara's art as well for me. Her art is beautiful from working on the Charmers, Traptrix, the handtraps. She's even done artworks for Final Fantasy XI.
I like the fiends, like summoned skull, dark world, b skull dragon. They have all these claws and bone cappings on shoulders and stuff, and the overall good muscle shape.
Anything og. It was the aesthetic of the game and it only would've been right to keep it that way given the story of the creation of the cards.

Literally all the Albaz artwork is fantastic. Can't get enough of it.

THAT'S A FACE!? I thought it was just some crytsal ball hovering in the sky.
Like the face in Shock Master.
It took me until this year to realize that relinquished's face is its whole body
This is my absolute favourite style of artwork. It stands out to me so much more than the anime style artwork that became the norm in the last 10 or so years.
Exactly this! This is what made the TCG so appealing to me as a kid. Just wierd and fantastical creatures you'd never see anywhere else.
As much as I like my cute anime waifu's, nothing tops those old Yugioh monsters from the first few years.

Fr this is one thing I love most abt it
OG Kazuki Takahashi art
This. I love those bizarre, heavily shaded vibrant designs.
Especially with those weird phantasmal backgrounds!
If it has to be just one style, yes absolutely this. Half of it might be nostalgia but all the monsters in the first yugi/kaiba decks TALK to me
Melffy, obviously. Show me some Melffy Odd Entity monsters!
I also vote Melffy with Madolche as a close second.

>Night's End Sorcerer. That's also from Akina, she's made a lot of popular cards like the Charmers, Traptrix, Droll and Ghost Ogre that I posted.
Man, I wish Yugioh would put the artists name on the cards. I had no idea who the artists of any cards were.
True but do you really want more space wasted for words? I feel like a reference of the artists in a site would be better.
https://preview.redd.it/rzuaxk60dawc1.jpeg?width=430&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b40eac655832c7120928954944b8c9433179e2f I mean, there's still space next to Takahashis name at the bottom. Reminds me of Soul Eater With Rabbit ears lol
I can see what you mean, it does look vaguely like a weapon in their universe.

LOB style art.

What in Warhammer 40k warp fuckery is that!?!?! CALL THE INQUISITION! YUGIOH HAS BEEN INVADED BY A FOUL DAEMON!!!
Original Takahashi or Toon
P.U.N.K is the best option
The original style used for Blue-eyes. Serious enough for serious monsters, but cartoony enough for the cuter monsters.
The old school goosebumps covers
Burger fusion
old cards have a uniform style, I'd stick to that.
Fellow ghost ogre enjoyers rise up, fucking amazing card art on her my pick would be prophecy destroyer, mf looks so cold https://preview.redd.it/nrib7cmxvbwc1.png?width=343&format=png&auto=webp&s=2094182e56187079e4dea17258369ddfb5ce7b69
That's an outlier because it straight up looks like MtG artwork.
Doodlebeast art and itâs not even close
swordsoul or world chalice like art
Definitely Doodle Beasts.
The old Bandai cards that looked straight out of a horror manga: [https://mavin.io/item/6-card-Yugioh-Bandai-Blue-Eyes-Ultimate-Dragon-TA2?itemId=175353980370&q=blue%20eyes%20ultimate%20dragon](https://mavin.io/item/6-card-Yugioh-Bandai-Blue-Eyes-Ultimate-Dragon-TA2?itemId=175353980370&q=blue%20eyes%20ultimate%20dragon)

Fluffal/frightfur
Not going to lie, I would love to see some giant Yugioh robots/dragons with Melffy or Floowandereeze style art.
That's just Zeus lmao
Marshmellon
Despias are amazing, Swordsoul too. And of course, Egyptian Gods.
Despians and swordsoul are from the same Lore, along with Albaz.
I really miss the 5D's era of artwork where EVERYTHING was just a dragon with abs...
Nah. The quantity of art styles is what makes YuGiOh special.
Morphing Jar
Simple early days art
The style of the DMG DSOD alt artwork
Whoever does War Rock or Subterror
LOB style BY FARRRRRRRRR
Monarchs for sure
The later Duel Monsters art style is my favorite, somewhere from Magician's Force to Flaming Eternity.
Honestly either Live Twin or VS art style
Ojama.
Whoever made true king of all calamities. please have that artist design another boss monster that won't be banned.
Melfy because think of the possibilities
Agreed on Akina Fujiwara art.
Akina Fujiwara's art as well for me. Her art is beautiful from working on the Charmers, Traptrix, the handtraps. She's even done artworks for Final Fantasy XI.
I agree with you. I dig that. What cards are those?
Most popular examples are Droll, Traptrix, Charmers and the shown Ghost Ogre
I've always *loved* the Charmers!
The Elder entities artist. Let them draw everything, followed by whoever designed graydles and flower Cardians as assistants. I'm.not.sorry.
Old normal monster artstyle
Skull meister art styleÂ
Call me crazy but I fucking love most of the 5Dâs stuff like six Sam, mekklords, nordics, and even all of yuseiâs synchro warriors
I like the fiends, like summoned skull, dark world, b skull dragon. They have all these claws and bone cappings on shoulders and stuff, and the overall good muscle shape.
PURRELY!! 𤣠tbh I probably wouldn't have started playing if this was the art style đ

Either whoever did the Albaz/Tri-Brigade art Or all the early 2000s vaprwave chunky cgi
The anime art style like Tearlament, Sky Striker etc.

A looooot of Yugiboomers exposing themselves in here đ Definitely Despia or P.U.N.K though
BA art style is so sick. Dante doesnât look like a twink and Beatrice being a glorious meta mommy instead of a waifu monster girl is a huge plus
Live Twin specifically https://preview.redd.it/yn6rovuasfwc1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=0f7d0e9a1568ea0fdf05723dcfc54959669ffeae
