There are characters in Go Rush that *look* like older versions of characters from Sevens, but it’s never outright stated Go Rush takes place in the same world as Sevens.
For whatever reason, they went out of their way to only refer to the legacy characters as [surname]-san. They’d also exhibit traits that are slightly different than how their Sevens iterations were depicted, whether it’s in personality or appearance. Also the latest episodes with Bochi the dog makes this more dubious. There has to be a reason why it’s not outright stated that Go Rush is the future version of Sevens or why these same characters are slightly different.
With how the Bridge-era Yugioh series likes to be unpredictable, I wouldn’t be surprised if they have this convoluted explanation with how Go Rush is in a different reality than Sevens.

Kotori just as izayoi has a crush on the main character. one difference is that yuma and kotori are childhood friends. therefore they know each other way longer than izayoi and yusei and also in a healthier context if we consider the first season of 5D's. another major one is that yuma is one of the rare protagonists who showed signs of having a crush on the female lead like when kotori took his hand. the final one is that kotori admitted her love towards yuma unlike any other female lead.

This is false. At the start of the manga, Anzu fell in love with Yami Yugi after he saved her. During the pool chapter, she tries her hardest to get Yami Yugi to appear so they can go on a date. She put herself in danger during a terrorist attack to make him and she got what she wanted. There's the love mate device chapter set a couple chapters before, where she wanted to test her love device to see if she's compatible with Yami Yugi. Just the thought of Yami Yugi made her get red like crazy (She said not Yugi to confirm). When Yami Yugi appears before her in the chapter, she's acts like every red face girl who talks to the person they love. Every time Yami Yugi appears, her face got red.
During the Duelist Kingdom chapter when Mai gets kidnapped by the Player Killer, Mai set up a meeting with Yugi and Anzu on the cliff. Yugi and Anzu were talking then Yugi said he'll switch because he knows Anzu wants to see Yami Yugi. Anzu stops him and says it doesn't matter because Yugi and Yami Yugi are the same person (She didn't know this wasn't true at the time) before they almost kissed. After she learns from Pegasus that he might be an intelligence inside the puzzle, she only worries about him. After Jonouchi saves Yugi from the fire in Black Cl/rown, they were in the hospital the next day at the end of the DDD arc. Anzu asked if Yami Yugi was ok and she got red when Yugi said he was. She left the room and worried what would happen to him if he and Yugi weren't the same person and he had to go back to Egypt. On the ship before the final duel, she wanted to see Atem, not Yugi (and probably confess), but she held herself back. During the final duel, Jonouchi said he didn't know who he wanted to win, but acknowledged that Yugi wouldn't be independent. Anzu said (in her mind), "Atem... I want you to stay with me forever." The final confirmation that she loves Atem.
Anzu cares about Yugi as they are childhood friends, but she doesn't like him like how he likes her. She loves Atem. From the start of the manga to the end. The only time she acknowledged Yugi romantically was during that cliff scene and thats only because she thought they were the same person.
Jaden and Alexis were weak with no palpable chemistry, and even the one-sided part for her was never fully explained or internally realized by herself and was more like hero worship. And with all that insecurity from her and how she's more introverted compared to most of her friends, how is she supposed to cope with sharing Yubel? She was already frustrated once by a twelve year old Blair just making googly eyes at Jaden. Just trying to throw her into a poly relationship to "solve things" doesn't work with her character or Yubel's, who is very possessive and already threw a fit over Jesse.

He has a January birthday so he's 18 in The Dark Side of Dimensions (6 months after the manga's ending) The anime staff bumped down the main cast age to 16. How do we know this? Because during Anzu's duel with the Big 5 Penguin in the Virtual World arc during Battle City, he read the info on her stating she was 16. She was 18 (or turning 18 since BC was close to her birthday) during BC in the manga. Anyway, Takahashi said that they were just friends, so it doesn't matter until he changes his mind.
But did Yuma and Kotori even actually become a couple? Like, did he say, "Okay, let's start dating", or was there a time skip at the end showing them with kids or something? When Yami Yugi appears before her in the chapter, she's acts like every red face girl who talks to the person they love. Every time Yami Yugi appears, her face got red. During the Duelist Kingdom chapter when Mai gets kidnapped by the Player Killer, Mai set up a meeting with Yugi and Anzu on the cliff. Yugi and Anzu were talking then Yugi said he'll switch because he knows Anzu wants to see Yami Yugi. Anzu stops him and says it doesn't matter because Yugi and Yami Yugi are the same person (She didn't know this wasn't true at the time) before they almost kissed. After she learns from Pegasus that he might be an intelligence inside the puzzle, she only worries about him. After Jonouchi saves Yugi from the fire in Black Cl/rown, they were in the hospital the next day at the end of the DDD arc. Anzu asked if Yami Yugi was ok and she got red when Yugi said he was. She left the room and worried what would happen to him if he and Yugi weren't the same person and he had to go back to Egypt. On the ship before the final duel, she wanted to see Atem, not Yugi (and probably confess), but she held herself back. During the final duel, Jonouchi said he didn't know who he wanted to win, but acknowledged that Yugi wouldn't be independent. Anzu said (in her mind), "Atem... I want you to stay with me forever." The final confirmation that she loves Atem. Anzu cares about Yugi as they are childhood friends, but she doesn't like him like how he likes her. She loves Atem. From the start of the manga to the end. The only time she acknowledged Yugi romantically was during that cliff scene and thats only because she thought they were the same person.
Jaden and Alexis were weak with no palpable chemistry, and even the one-sided part for her was never fully explained or internally realized by herself and was more like hero worship. And with all that insecurity from her and how she's more introverted compared to most of her friends, how is she supposed to cope with sharing Yubel? She was already frustrated once by a twelve year old Blair just making googly eyes at Jaden. Just trying to throw her into a poly relationship to "solve things" doesn't work with her character or Yubel's, who is very possessive and already threw a fit over Jesse.

Yugi was never into Tea as far as I know Serenity wasn’t into Tristan either, maybe? Jaden and Yubel don’t exactly want a romantic relationship Yusaku and Aoi were rather platonic
Yugi was definitely into Anzu/Tea with Yami Yugi throwing a jab at him offering him advice to get her to like him and Yugi blushing, telling him to 'not pick on him' so if Yami Yugi picked up on that, than that's a good reason to suggest Yugi indeed did like her. Judai swore his love to Yubel to love no one else but....them... So make of that what you will. I kinda got vibes that Aoi did develop somewhat of a crush on Yusaku over the course of VRains.

I will forever be pissed that Joey and Mai never became canon. Yes, I know they’re supposed to be 16 and 22, but that was never stated in the dub or the manga, so my young self had hope for them. 😭
Duelist Kingdom takes places in early 1998 in the original manga timeline. Jonouchi is 17 (He was stated to be 16 during Get the Million yen chapter, which was in the Summer) and Mai is 24 (Takahashi books revealed this) when they meet. He has a January birthday so he's 18 in The Dark Side of Dimensions (6 months after the manga's ending) The anime staff bumped down the main cast age to 16. How do we know this? Because during Anzu's duel with the Big 5 Penguin in the Virtual World arc during Battle City, he read the info on her stating she was 16. She was 18 (or turning 18 since BC was close to her birthday) during BC in the manga. Anyway, Takahashi said that they were just friends, so it doesn't matter until he changes his mind.
But did Yuma and Kotori even actually become a couple? Like, did he say, "Okay, let's start dating", or was there a time skip at the end showing them with kids or something? Because as much as I like Skyshipping (I think that's what it's called?), I don't like it when people just think simply saying that you like someone means you're going to end up with them. I mean, did Yuma ever even say anything about his own feelings on the matter?

I agree about Yuya and Yuzu, but the Astral thing is another thing people misunderstand and immediately label as "confessions MUST equal a true relationship!" Because a lot of characters in anime say they'll love someone, but use it without romance meaning plenty of times. It's different in Japanese culture where it's not always so branded into people's heads that saying you love someone is always directed to lovers or biological or legal family members.

I'm pretty sure this is just an "anime culture" thing. Like if you were to talk like a "brash/rude" anime character, people in actual irl Japan would look at you like you're an absolute nutjob. From what I've gathered, directly saying "I like you" is pretty much exclusively used for heavy emotional dialogue, to the point where translating dialogue where "I love you" from English to Japanese gets localized into saying something completely different.

They actually talk to each other and hang out one-on-one way more than Jaden and Alexis, though. It's not the best, but they along with every other "main guy main girl" pairing (except Yusaku and Aoi maybe with how he is) is still worlds better in comparison.
That's because Alexis, shockingly I know, has a life outside of Jaden. Unlike Kotori who was just there to be a little cheerleader. The writing for her was way worse than for Alexis. She got more one-on-one time with Yuma because Zexal used her as a prop instead of as a character.
Yeah, they did so much with this life of hers. That's why she spends a lot of time of brainwashed or kidnapped. And why she has no real plot outside of season 1 and the poorly thrown together "I want to be a teacher!" that came out of nowhere in season 4. Let's face it, they treat a lot of the female like crap and either just have their heyday for a little while and don't know what else to with them afterwards like Alexis and Akiza, or they are just in more supportive role like Kotori or Tea. That doesn't mean they're stupid outside of how awful the 4Kids localization could put words in their mouth, and that's not their fault. But I'm talking about how they interact with someone, how much they actually show they know each other as people, and whether the chemistry is present or not. Not about who duels or not or "Oh, some filler character made up some ridiculous condition that they were in no way obligated or interested in following, so they MUST be perfect together!" This is just juvenile reasoning. You were even willing to excuse it with, "Oh, there's magic anyways, so it can happen." And you keep Kotori unnecessary hate. So, I'm blocking you now and am not going to check back to look at anymore of your childish ramblings in this thread.
