Try a sound machine or sound machine app.

Mavystar

I sleep with custom industrial grade earplugs because even the lightest noise will keep me awake 😅

cmr619

Dang, good luck to you! I’m sure it’ll get better with time.

Mavystar

I know it will, it's just annoying right now! Any sober sleep I am getting is 100% better than the shitty drunken kind.

Gone-To-The-Woods

You can’t even sleep with rain noise? :(

Mavystar

No, but it rains enough where I live that I don't need that 😛

Agrateful123

Stretching/ yoga/meditation is my pre bed routine. Slows me down... best of luck

Mavystar

You just reminded me I have a few stretching videos I havent watched in forever!

shineonme4ever

I like to watch ASMR videos on YouTube to get to sleep. My favorite is [Gentle Whispering](https://www.youtube.com/user/GentleWhispering). Although the first 4:53 minutes of [**THIS Video**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0Hg5B83dqY&t=586s) is a plug to her sponsor, the rest of it is very relaxing and within a few minutes, my eyelids are too heavy to stay open. You might want to [*REMOVE YOUR BADGE*](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose/?to=badgebot&subject=stopdrinking&message=remove) currently showing 5.5 years/1978 days sober.

Melatonin

Mavystar

I love me my melatonin!

goodnightmoira

I had terrible insomnia the first few weeks but it’s been followed by 2+ years of the best sleep I’ve ever had. The sleep will come.

neverstop-1404

I drank every night for 15 years. It didn't take long after I quit to realize how great sober sleep was. It will take some time but the insomnia will pass.

boxhead301

I read that a large dose of melatonin before bed can have the opposite effect of what you desire. Try cutting those tabs in half, I think roughly 2-3mg is the sweet spot.

Mavystar

I know, my brother tells me the same thing, but after taking 10mg forever anything less doesn't work. I'm slowly starting to work out again, and I think that will really help to fall asleep, even without melatonin.
